The very last thing people would want to do in this story is underestimate Spike since he seems to be capable of beating up anyone despite looking like a ten year old.
Spike you fool! Never trust the students when you don’t know what’s going on or needs to be done. It’s a 90% chance they’ll just mess with you. 5% they’ll have you go over something they already did for a easy daily grade. 4% they’ll ignore you or run the clock down. And 1% they’ll actually be helpful.
8559906 I mean... yeah, but Twilight's in there so I think he's safe, even if he doesn't know it. That and he threw an asshole through a door, not sure anyone has tricking him on the mind.
Regardless of anything else that happens, I'm satisfied in this moment. Gotta hate when the trash fucks up the door when you take it out though. Ah well, sure that's Sven's paychecks issue.
Half the fun in this chapter is guessing the threats.
Spike's growl cut him off, "I can drag you to Cadance's office, or the morgue. Your choice." a fearful whimper was heard,
(eery music and me smiling that smile that you see in horror films before someone dies.) choose wisely seven because it might be your last. ( me laughing like a mad scientist as his creation comes to life.)
Loving this story more and more. More fun teachers are added, bad ones are going through doors and Spike is showing why he's a badass dragon who can take care of himself.
Spike's use of excessive physical force, in this instance, is nothing short of reprehensible. But then again, the author is perfectly capable of not allowing free-speech in their anthro-collegiate version of Equestria, making Spike's actions of assaulting someone who spoke aloud a nasty opinion perfectly legal and not have Spike jailed, fined, or imprisoned.
8560589 I'm not even gonna begin to tell you why your comment was unnecessary, the downvotes reflect my opinion.
Edit: I'm also noticing a distinct singlular downvote on every comment that has to do with spike kicking that teacher's ass. I'm not factually sure if that's you who's doing it, but I have a feeling it is.
8561055 There's a good reason why you think that about the downvotes missy.
And hey, like I said, this is the author's own world, and they can choose to recognize the immorality of physically assaulting someone for having a nasty opinion, or not.
As the yelps of pain trailed off, Gilda was the first to speak up, "Um...anyone else not sure if they should be touched he's already this protective of the class, or kinda scared that he actually sounded intimidating just then? missing close quotations)
"P-pretty much." Spitfire responded, wiping her forehead off (missing a period)
"Um, I think Trottingham's the only town in Equestria where it's still legal to use a cheese grater like that." Yearling commented idly from nearby, hearing one of his remarks in draconic, and trying not to laugh at Svengallop's predicament (missing a period)
She stepped over to the file cabinet and began to rifle through a drawer, ignoring him(period) "And let's not forget the less than complementary things teachers AND students have heard you refer to them as, 'an army of sluts' I recall being one you used often...even though you claimed it was just 'a personal opinion', yet you always seemed to say it right when someone was in earshot."
Once he got back to the classroom, he noticed it looked like the girls had managed to recover a little. Ember was currently in a hug sandwich courtesy of Pinkie and Twilight. A quick look at the damage showed the door itself was okay, but the hinges had been ripped right out of the frame, bent to Tartarus and back. 'Hope that's not gonna be too much of my paycheck...' He thought before going in. What little chatter that had been going on quickly stopped when he entered, everyone staring at him with a mix of shock, surprise, befuddlement, and a little more awe. "Sorry 'bout the wait." He said, not really paying attention to the looks, "Just let Cadance know about the door. How's Ember holding up?"
"Well, can't say I'm surprised." The almost marshmallow-colored mare in the back...Rarity, if he ready the seating right, spoke up, "Never liked him to begin with. Seriously (Honestly might sound better here; fits more with her character), what respectable individual wears a peacock blue business suit? YEUCH!"
That seemed to cheer Ember up a little if the scattered giggles were any indication.
"Right...so, since we don't really know when a new teacher is gonna be hired, I'll go ahead and fill in for now." He picked up one of the textbooks lying on the floor, "Anyone tell me what you were working on last time?"
In case you're confused, the parentheses are italicized to emphasize an incorrect or missing punctuation mark. Anything that is just italicized is for word correction. Hope this helps. If you don't want me to proofread anymore chapters, please let me know. Otherwise, I will keep on.
8560589 Provoked assault rarely ends up with more than a night in a cell. Theres also a ton of defenses that would get Spike out of any legal issue here as well as that there's all of zero witnesses who are going to say a thing. Also, freedom of speech does not protect against racial slurs or obscenities.
For example, the Court has decided that the First Amendment provides no protection for obscenity, child pornography, or speech that constitutes what has become widely known as “fighting words.” The Court has also decided that the First Amendment provides less than full protection to commercial speech, defamation (libel and slander), speech that may be harmful to children, speech broadcast on radio and television (as opposed to speech transmitted via cable or the Internet), and public employees’ speech.
And any school or employer who deems your behavior, including statements made, inappropriate has every right to fire your ass, But go tell your boss he or she is a colossal piece of shit and then sue for wrongful termination cause of freedom of speech, just don't be too surprised when you get laughed at by the judge. Start insulting people at any business and being a loud douchebag, cause when they tell you to leave and you try and sue cause of freedom of speech, you will also be laughed at as any business had the right to refuse service as long as it's not exercised in race, gender, or sexual orientation.
8561660 All true, and well said. However, the impression that the story gives is that Sev had a history of such words before, and if he was going to use the ones he in front of another teacher of all things (young as he thought Spike was), then it isn't too far of a leap to assume what he has said in front of only students, which means his actions would long ago have been dealt with. Instead, this situation only comes off as what looks like another sad instance of someone not only acting like 'hate speech' is a real thing, but that words that are not calls to action are of equal worth to physical violence.
8561696 There are many who would argue what justifies physical violence. Also hate speech is very much a real thing. In fact in this very example the term was so powerful it brought Ember to tears and justified firing him.
8561896 It is disheartening to hear you say so, especially after your last comment went so well. If 'hate speech' is so real, please, tell me the legal definition of it. Surely if it is truly so heinous to speak certain words that are not a direct call to action that physical violence is not only permissible, but justified, there must be a legal definition.
Hate speech laws in England and Wales are found in several statutes. This does not necessarily mean they apply throughout the United Kingdom, given that both Scotland and Northern Ireland have different legal systems. Expressions of hatred toward someone on account of that person's colour, race, disability, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origin, religion, or sexual orientation is forbidden. Any communication which is threatening or abusive, and is intended to harass, alarm, or distress someone is forbidden. The penalties for hate speech include fines, imprisonment, or both.
I fact England takes the matter quite seriously and has 4 separate acts. There's also laws in place using hate speech as a legal term in France, Poland, and Germany to name a few with people being persecuted under them.
This is the American Legal System's definition
Hate speech is a communication that carries no meaning other than the expression of hatred for some group, especially in circumstances in which the communication is likely to provoke violence. It is an incitement to hatred primarily against a group of persons defined in terms of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and the like. Hate speech can be any form of expression regarded as offensive to racial, ethnic and religious groups and other discrete minorities or to women.
It can also be tried in a court of law as a hate crime. The term is very well defined in multiple legal systems as well as in many dictionaries.
8559906 In most major countries outside of the USA the students take thing's more seriously. The most extreme of this is Japan where instead of getting a substitute for a sick teacher the students will actually do self-study/teaching.
8561964 That would be the 2nd quote. As I said, in the USA hate speech can be tried as a hate crime. It has a legal definition. Also, it would be a poor mistake to assume that the US gets to decide what is or is not "real." As an American, born, raised, and still living in, there are many areas where our legal system is flawed and much we could learn from other legal systems. We don't have to mimic them, but it would be rather unwise not to take what has value on something like pride in our "own" system. Equally true, as you said Equestria does not equal America or anywhere else for that matter.
8561989 Agreed. The American system is not perfect, but in it's defense it has yielded the greatest prosperity the world has ever seen. And on that note, free speech is either free, or it isn't.
8561964 I believe he gave both. Also in most countries teachers are held responsible for everything in their classroom often including things that can affect emotional and mental health and are expected to help/defend the students (physically if necessary). This is one of the reasons why some countries used to be very sexist about teachers needing to be male. The USA despite being one of the top world powers is actually famous for having the worst school system among them for years (thats from statistics not opinions and from knowing people who work in all levels of the school system) and has been getting worse. Not to mention our legal system has become such a joke where criminals are able to sue their victims for defending themselves with the exception of 1 or 2 states. There is so much wrong with it I hate trying to refer to it for anything along the lines of law and punishment. Simply put what happened to Sven does not seem reprehensible or too farfetched given the setting especially at a private school.
Great chapter! And this also answers my question of what the male faculty think about the dress code. Bulk Biceps apparently doesn't care, I don't think he even notices but Svengallop is the realistic reaction to such a thing. I mean, what "sane" male teacher not at least question it? Though I do hate him for his remarks about the students.
Damn the Negima vibes this story gives me, keeping me uncomfortably eager for it's next chapter. It is fast becoming one of my favorites, and I hate to be that guy who asks for another chapter to be quickly released, so I won't be, but it's an up-hill battle.
8561994 This is a generally false statement. Actions with the attempt to harm others in any way breaks their right to the pursuit of happiness. The law is very clear, you can't violate anyone else's rights otherwise your right is no longer protected. We have freedom of speech to speak out against our government, not to harm individuals. This is why slander, libel, and, yes, hate speech are not protected under freedom of speech.
8563141 True. My bad. Also, how long till the clop comes? And, how long till the next chapter is out. Cause man!! YOur stories are awesome!!! I cant wait for more chapters to come out for all of your stories.
Wow!! That was awesome!!! More!! Glad a new chapter is out!!
I seriously cant wait for everyone to find out his true age. That is going to be hilarious!!!!
Way to go Spike^^
I do believe we have a rogue t right there. That said, another one one.
Go Spike!!!
As of this moment, every girls was secretly turned on of what Spike did.
Glad Svengallop got what was coming to him. I never liked that asshole.
The very last thing people would want to do in this story is underestimate Spike since he seems to be capable of beating up anyone despite looking like a ten year old.
more NOW plz
8559747
Secretly? Gonna have to call in the custodian to mop up all this splooshin'!
Is this going to be one of those sexless harem stories...?
8559792
Like Mahou Sensei Negima? Or Love Hina?
Spike is awesom if he keeps doing stuff like this the girls are going to kill him with Love and respect.

Then I believe you'll enjoy Pt 3 of his long day, heh.
8560126
Hell yes I will.
Thought you your going to just skip to Spike and Cadence, moving his stuff out. Glad I was wrong!
You had my curiosity.
Spike swearing in Old Draconic and putting Svengallop through a door means you now have my attention.
Have a spot in my Favourites list. You deserve it.
Hehe you don't mess with Spike
