Rainbow Dash's kid is hunting monsters. But when you stare into the adorable abyss, you might find it staring into you… A Trixieverse novel of the next generation!
This looks to be an excellent start to an excellent story. I can't wait for it to be completely overtaken by gratuitous clop and sexually hypercharged social briar thickets.
Sorry. I agreed with Spike in the previous story a little too hard.
5422802 Spike is in this story and if you asked him right now what mattered (after seeing Twilight, in the previous story, flip out over alicorn adolescence and effectively bust herself back to unicorn in a selfdestructive act from which only Fluttershy's self-sacrifice saved her) he would say what he actually said once in a previous book: he's gonna be more involved in things because he's gotta keep these crazy ponies in check!
We're going to have quite a few characters working hard and intelligently to cut through the usual Trixieverse chaos and supply wise answers, caring, growth and decency. Up to and including Princess Celestia.
They will, however, have a lot to contend with—and it's all referenced in earlier books so the mystery isn't cheaty. One specific word gave me this book and if anyone can tell me the word and chapter I'll answer one question privately it might be a while before it's apparent where you have to look, though…
As for sexually hypercharged clop, check back Monday and you must understand having big chunks of the plot centered around Spy and Rock changes things. They're foals and uninvolved in Trixieverse sexuality despite being the product of it. They are, however, strongly affected by what you might call second-order effects: the choices of the adults affect them intensely.
5423523 He very well may. Zontargs (and also TacticalRainboom, in fact) is one of my Minecraft server friends and we hang out and I've been known to let slip hints and secrets. We have a persistent 1.8.1 world and if any of you readers would like to play with us just PM me or drop by our minecraft group, tbac-server-discussion and you can come build stuff and hang out with my crew!
Me, Zontargs (zobrux) and Shanawolf are the mods and we've got domains all set for settling in, and loads of built stuff already! Roads and subways and stuff. It is teh awesome
The illustrious ShadowedSong is another regular, and a dangerous horse on the Snowball Madness sessions
We use a Teamspeak server and get up to all sorts of things, and rarely have griefers. Sometimes I'll post videos that relate to that stuff. It's a weird hybrid of pony and blocky: pretty much all my Minecraft development stuff inevitably ends up pony-influenced because that's our crew.
Stay tuned for some of exactly that we did a marathon playsession of an upcoming mod, Snowball Madness, and I'm just making the videos now! I'll get going on chapter 2 while rendering video
I never seem to discover your new novels when they come out. I don't get it. I follow you, I... well, I was gone for nine or so months so... okay, that's how I missed this book.
Sigh.
I pay close attention to your writing technique and style, and I absolutely adored this line:
“Gotcha!” cried Dash, tackling Northern Spy just as she began to seriously accelerate in the general direction of away.
Sheer prose poetry. General direction of away. I have no name for the pleasure of seeing a well crafted bit of prose, but whatever that pleasure is called, that did it for me.
Drama, they say, comes from putting your characters through hell, and having Northern Spy turn out to be an earth pony that regrets being an earth pony is a dramatic choice.
I like Rock Candy. Very neat character thus far.
This book is going to be a challenge for me - I despise the Power Ponies episode, I loathe Dursaa and I can't stomach vampire undead Fluttershy. But, if any author can get me to hold my left thumb and swallow, it's you. You are too magnificent to let the things that repulse me get in the way of experiencing genius.
Well, here I stand, facing down the last novel in the series (so far). Before I go much further, can you tell me how old Spy and Rock are, and how long it's been since Too Near the Sum ended?
Damn you, Applejinx.
Merry Christmas, and thank you for the present!
APPLEJINX IS BACK!?
Wait, wrong video.

Oh what excellent news, Applejinx is back!

Oh man, this can only end well. Also, the apparent state of the current family dynamics makes me sad.
[Not speculating in the comments because I remember things and I think I actually know]
Well, Merry Christmas to you.

Commence read.
Into another crazy story, here we go.
*eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*
Finally! Been waiting for weeks for this. Can't wait for the ------------------------- and for ----------------------- to -----------------------.
Keep up the good work!
Is this directed towards me?
Rock Lobster? Really?!
Ok that had to be a reference to Family Guy.

Lead on, master author. Lead on.
