So MANY things to consider in a single chapter ! Rye still have a slave mind, didn´t him ? Follow orders, praise your master.

That is in fact, the gist of it. Bloody Velvet wants him to think for himself.
It's so awesome to see this story getting updates again. The characters and plot (god, why am I so afraid to use that word on this site?) are really well written. Moar!
7 gallons of water...that is pitifully small. There is no way that would serve 2000 ponies. Unless that amount is meant only for the cooking of the meal itself, and not consumption. Cause serving 2000 would require like 500 gallons of water. And even then, that seems small.

Seven gallons of water go with the second batch of flour to make gravy thickener.
You seemed to missed the other liquid to be found in the recipe.

So I did.

Recipe adapted from an actual recipe meant to feed 2500 humans.
Wow. I can't even begin to understand what House Avarice is thinking. Establishing monopolies through embargoes? Fine. Offering cutting-edge weaponry to your nation's enemies? Less fine. Sure, they can probably finesse global politics to keep everywhere but Equestria for a while... but that's not a guarantee. War may be profitable, but it's terribly risky.
Meanwhile, Rye has a new home, a new captain, and an old job. And an epic stew recipe. I have no idea what's next for him.
A small fleet of typos:
Missing "a".
Capitalization needed.
One word.

Huh, you learn something every day.
I can't help but think the recipe has some other significance besides feeding 2000 ponies.
What's this? The Catch is getting more attention?! Woah
6000158 Definitely. I have a sneaking suspicion that it contains the cipher accounting/log books that Rye was thinking of before. It's a recipe, so hiding it in the galley is a good place, even if the recipe itself is incongruous.
Grinning, Rye Mash stepped into room where Bloody Velvet was having a look around.
into the room
I like how Bloody Velvet gave Rye a stern talking to, his blood thirst was kinda getting worrisome

Why would you need to feed that many ponies at once...
It isn't for slaves... that food is too good for slaves. What sort of ponies might need a high calorie meal and why... and why would you need so much?
6001046 Well... Blasted unicorns and their massive appetite. Never get fat from that magic usage.
6001046 For an army, of course. But it's still strange for that recipe to be on such a small ship, and you're a twisty writer
Until I see different, I shall expect this to have more than one meaning
6002567
Well, who was on the ship?
And from what else we know in this chapter... what did it appear that they were doing?
The clues are all there and the answer is possible at this point with some deductive reasoning and maybe a lucky guess.
6002590 I have ideas (that are probably off base). Since a Buckminster Bitters was aboard, the Shetlands might be involved. Or might not. I'm eagerly anticipating the next chapter. We shall see
6003845
Four unicorns of House Avarice. And they weren't heading to the Shetlands. They were heading off to the Hinterlands to meet with clients.
6003864 Oh ho! When you put it like that...... I have an idea, you magnificent tricky bastard
6009285
The ship itself is also worth quite a bit of money. It can be sold and the funds dispersed.
So is the whalefish not going to have any mages now?
Also, after thinking it over I don't think I trust Stammerer:
If unicorns with the shakes are often kept secluded from society I could I could imagine Bloody Velvet not knowing much about her family business until she was older, especially since she's a mare. Starjammer on the other hoof claims to want to study 'everything' but implies he didn't know what the family business was until he was grown up; which would be very uncommon for almost any family business.
He didn't run away with a gay lover; and if he'd just lost someone close to him or was planning on going back to be reunited with someone I wouldn't think he'd be kissing Rye the same day he met him. I'm seeing this more likely that he killed his family to defend his freedom to screw random guys, and states his secondary reason (not liking slavery) as being his main motive for killing his family because it's more admirable.
Also there was not wanting to investigate a filly screaming.
So why didn't these four nobles bring any crew with them?
Ahhahahaha! Awesome job! Bloody Velvet... I think I may be obsessed with her a bit :|
Like how I am with Holly Homewrecker 8'D
Hehehe.
Nice job man, nice job!
I agree with some of the peeps down below, methinks there's more to that recipe then it seems.
Left front. Am I right? Nothing here I can see. Oh wait, I'm uneducated and read over the typos. Sorry kudz. Lookz good from my house.
