[This story has being completely rewritten with new characters, arcs, and a more cohesive plot. Read it here: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/378562/resurgence]

I've known many faces of fear. Each has had its time, and each as been conquered by the many hooves of my impregnable fellowship. Fear has become predictable; routine. But as I watch the flame rise to its lurid apex, I find myself suffocating in the unforgiving confines of concern, trying desperately to grasp to the fading securities of my mortal life. Fate brought me here; fear has kept me prisoner. And as a thousand faces look up unto my own, pleading for an answer, I'm tortured by the inescapable conclusion.

I have no answer.

Well, your story is well written, but its unusually cryptic. Was it meant to be this mysterious?

I've spent a lot of time mulling over the ambiguity of the story, and I was aware that when I went with the original, foggy direction of its plot that I'd be isolating an audience not willing to unfurl parts of it for themselves. I can promise, however, that the beginning is probably the most confusing section. I've introduced most of the major elements; now I merely sculpt with them.

Hmm, I see. Well, I look forward to seeing where you take this.

“Ninety percent of that data ‘anyone could access’ was illegal content, including drug trafficking and child pornography.”

I call B.S. on them.

It's that damn Deep Web.

Ninety percent of that data ‘anyone could access’ was illegal content, including drug trafficking and child pornography.

Aw fuck, our race is so full of dirtbags...

She's just cherry picking. I mean, we also literally invented pizza.

Sounds like they're giant hypocrites for condemning Humanity when they have the potential to do the same exact thing. It also sounds like Celestia is trying to condition Twilight to hate them by giving her that specific book.

Is this an "evil Celestia" story? Is this a "Luna's a Prick" story? Will Rainbow Dash be beating anybody up in this story? Will Twilight be badass in this story?

Those are some heavy questions. It's difficult to talk about that kind of stuff right now, but I will say that the answers will be multifaceted. Recently I've been pushing a lot harder on release dates, so expect your conclusions to come relatively soon.

This only gets more interesting.

So it got a little crazy; but let's talk, Pixel. What questions do you have?

You mean in the White Room? Or the actual ending, from Celestia's POV?

The whole gawddamned chapter!

Yeah, it does kind of drop you off the deep end. The interesting thing is, I had this ending planned since the beginning, and I like to believe that Celestia was ready to pull this at any time. I see Celestia as a very cold, remorseless figure, hardened from the thousands of years she's spent protecting Equestria. Of course there's no way to prove if she or Twilight was right, this is up to the reader to decide. On the surface, Princess Celestia's act was cruel and unforgivable, but she has indisputably had the most experience as head of the nation.

I probably could have extended it a little more, but I thought that even though nontraditional, the ending was very inline with the nature of Surge. If nothing else, it's certainly improved my writing.
