Carol of the Day: Dec 9th · 4:20pm Dec 9th, 2019

This little gem was written by American Folk singer Tom Paxton in 1962. Two versions of this song exist. The original doesn't give under what occasion, if any, the toy was given. Later versions turned the toy into a Christmas gift and some oldies stations would only play this song around Christmas time.

Today, we're listening to the Christmas version of "The Marvelous Toy" as performed by another notable folk singer, John Denver.

Review: Brooklyn (2015) · 10:46pm Jan 28th, 2016

Brooklyn is a miraculously moving, intimate look at the story of a young Irish girl's maturation and journey from girlhood to womanhood, while framed around the immigrant experience. Far from a flashy film, Brooklyn instead feels like a softly colored impressionistic look at the life of an Irish immigrate, and in tern, becomes one of the most serene and genuinely heartwarming films I've seen in quite some time.

Review: The Killers (1964) · 10:50pm Jul 8th, 2016

A stripped down, no-nonsense adaptation of Ernest Hemmingway's 1927 short-story, which had previously been adapted in 1946 by Robert Siodmak, and starring Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner, the 1964 version of The Killers is an effective and enjoyably straightforward film noir, directed with smooth efficiency by Don Siegel (Dirty Harry), and performed with skill by a clutch of great actors, such as Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, John Cassavetes, and, in his final role before entering politics,

The Stepfather (1987) · 3:08am Jan 25th, 2016

You know, for as overly dramatic as Rarity is with her relationships, she's had it pretty easy in some respects. Oh sure, she's had her heart broken a few times. Dates or stallions haven't lived up to her expectations (Blueblood and Trenderhoof) and yet pretty much after a gallon of ice cream and a day or two of moping or crazy antics she gets over it. One hoof in front of the other she buries herself in her work and helping out her friends.

TALKIN' JOHN BIRCH PARANOID BLUES
by Bob Dylan
2016 Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize!

Well, I was feelin’ sad and feelin’ blue
I didn’t know what in the world I wus gonna do
Them Communists they wus comin’ around
They wus in the air
They wus on the ground
They wouldn’t gimme no peace . . .

So I run down most hurriedly
And joined up with the John Birch Society
I got me a secret membership card
And started off a-walkin’ down the road
Yee-hoo, I’m a real John Bircher now!

BabsCon: I'm a Community Guest?! · 5:22am Dec 29th, 2017

Okay, so, as part of the BarCast, I'm now a Community Guest for BabsCon! No shit! All of us; Milk, Pencil, Flam, Priest, Enigma, and me! WOOO!

So, this is cool as shit! I never thought I'd be a community guest. I've been a Pannalist, even got a Press Badge by mistake and didn't abuse it. I could have. I SO wanted to meet with Tera Strong, Tabitha St. Germane, and Ashleigh Ball. Especially since I didn't get to even see Ashleigh Ball but from afar.

In other words, it's time for the next chapter:

The first video that I decided to share with you all is a video featuring a song from Disney’s “The Emperor’s New Groove”. It’s called “Snuff Out the Light”. It was sung by the legendary Eartha Kitt, who became best known by fans for voicing the film’s main antagonist, Yzma.
