I've been a lurker, commenter, and contributor on this site for about three years now, and in between the endless crossovers, the adventures, and everything else I've found improbably connected to ponies, real horror is probably the rarest thing I've seen.

There are several reasons why people write fanfics. But I think that most people who write fanfics will agree that most people who write fanfics do so for the same reason as the people who create the original content that those fanfics are based on. The question then is, why do writers write the intellectual properties that fanfics can be made from?

The Power of Instrumental Music
I have found that in order for me to write the best quality first-drafts, I have to put myself in the most appropriate mood. To accomplish this, I have one simple strategy that often works more than not.
It’s actually a three step process, and it consists of the following required tasks:
1) Identify the genre in which I am trying to write
2) Find appropriate instrumental music that relates to what I’m trying to write

I've been going through a lot of shit and I really haven't had the motivation to write.
It's Not Okay was started when I was in a very specific head space... and between that and it not being finished it still gets favorites for some reason. XD
The other thing is that my series with Sunset and my OCs still gets a favorite every now and then too.

If you think that your own writing is boring and predictable, that's because:
1)You wrote it
2)You’ve read it like eight million times.
Others who haven't read your words before won't have this issue.
EDIT: But it also doesn't hurt to have people read your stuff. People you trust to give their honest opinions.

So I recently finished playing Tales of Berseria. Like many games in its genre, it was a dense experience, both in terms of gameplay and story. This density has many expressions, but one that I noticed in particular was its use of invented terms and technobabble. Here’s a partial list of some of the world-specific terms it uses;
* Malevolence – Evil energy. Related to the next item.
* Demonblight – A disease that turns people into demons.
I've had five live-writing sessions since starting that, all on CSP.
In those five sessions, I've written 12,542 first-draft words.
Two sequences to go, and the chapter will be done, and I can begin editing.
