I'm going to have an operation to fix my eyesight in December!
So it was unavailable until it was finally pointed out to me by KMCA. If you came by looking for the chapter and it wasn’t there, that’s why. It’s fixed now. They really should put a confirmation step on that button.
Well, folks... I promised a graphics teaser for the new Firefly chapter, so here it is:
And very heavily guest-written. There will be one section by me, one by AJ_Aficionado, and one by Denim_Blue, each highlighting a different race/faction who will shortly have to choose sides in the war. And since I can't resist despite earlier saying there wouldn't be one, here's a teaser...

Not quite a record time for turning out a new chapter, but close. Weighing in at around 8500 words, it was a scene and sequence I'd been wanting to do for a very long time, and certainly one I'd been hyping here for quite a while. There will be no teaser, and it's possible it will released tonight as I get prereads in and edits finished. Just need some additional music selections, and we're good to go!
With the latest chapter more than half-done, I'm currently projecting a Thanksgiving-ish release (Thursday, November 28th for the non-American readers) for when you want relief from family or are otherwise immobilized by too much turkey and trimmings.
And that means it's time for an old promise to be kept. I don't recall when I made it, but it was suggested by a commenter or two a year or two ago that the story be turned into an actual book. I said I would if and when it hit 300 likes, and here we are!
With apologies, as it's currently looking unlikely I'll have anything ready by Xmas as I hoped.
New Flight of Firefly chapter now at 14k words and with another 2-3k words to go. I have major momentum on it now after struggling with it for some time, as it's finally taking shape and being fleshed out. For those who know me on Skype, I'm mostly unavailable until I finish this. Best guess at this point is it'll be draft complete tomorrow and released within a couple days after, once prereaders have given it a thorough check and thumbs-up.
Much of my writing output this year has not even been under my usual Dafaddah identity. The reason for this was my participation in Obsolescence's OC Slamjam contest, which was a massive undertaking consuming over three months of constant toil under conditions of anonymity. My efforts were rewarded nevertheless as I ended up taking second place!
Within the next few days, most likely, and we will follow up with a second one soon. As we're at a proper point for it, these will be interlude chapters, telling the backstory of two future Bolt Knights, one directly and one indirectly. Who, you may ask...?
As promised, here’s a teaser for the new chapter, which is about half done. I could actually break it off right where I am, but I won’t this time. This will be another double-sized chapter to describe the final escape from Epsilon, and all the myriad battles that happened within it. Duels, sharp fights, and naval action will be the order of the day, and you’ll get to see our Naval bridge crew and commanders in combat for the first time.
The next Firefly chapter is well on the way, but even at 8300 words written is not coming quickly. The last three chapters, I found, pretty much wrote themselves as I was doing scenes I'd envisioned for a while. This time? I'm trying to thread a very difficult plot needle and so far I haven't succeeded, either according to myself or the one prereader who has looked at it. Without giving away the game, this has turned into a Fell Flight-centric chapter that's trying to set something up;
But it needs to be perfect before I hit the publish button. Reaction to the previous chapter has made very clear I have to absolutely nail this next one to validate it and address some of the concerns people have raised. Current plans are to release tomorrow, Monday the 24th, which is Memorial Day--a time to recognize fallen soldiers as well as officially kick off the summer cookout season--here in the USA. Memorial Day should be a fitting day for a new Firefly chapter release.
After a work-enforced two weeks away from writing, I’m finally on a weeklong vacation, and the result has been rapid progress on the next Firefly chapter, now at 6500 words and growing quickly. Though I’m uncertain of its final length, there’s a very good chance you’re going to see it launched on or before the weekend. Prereaders, stand by.
I can finally reveal what I was up to these past twelve weeks that took all my available writing time. I took part in Obsolescence's (i.e. he moderated the contest) OC Slamjam Competition (click this link to get to the stories). In this contest, writers were asked to submit an Original Character Profile, and then the participants were paired off to each anonymously write a story
You can find it at the bottom of the page, and my response in the comments. Give it a read!

Tentatively titled “Spoiling Strike”, it’s been very well-received by prereaders to this point, but I’m having a horrible time with the second combat section involving Kaval/Gaius, and if’s not finished to satisfaction by September 1st, I’ll release the chapter without it.
