I'm going to have an operation to fix my eyesight in December!
Sadly, it does not involve a visit to Equestria in order to receive magically treated crystal lens implants that will vary their opacity to allow me to see equally well in daylight as darkness, changing my eye color from day to night in the process. It will instead consist of fixing my severe double-vision by surgically resetting the placement of the muscles that control the movement of my right eye to realign it with my left, hopefully giving me proper binocular vision.
The only way I can have it now is to wear thick and heavy glasses with lots of 'prisming' to compensate. Seriously, my current glasses are basically the proverbial coke bottle-bottoms for the amount of glass it takes to bend the light enough to give me binocular vision and enable me to safely drive. If you looked at me closely right now, you'd see I'm slightly cross-eyed, and this will fix that as well.
It's never comfortable having a procedure that might affect your vision if something goes wrong, but they're only operating on one eye, so I have a proverbial spare at least that will be unaffected. Regardless, I'm looking forward to it and not having to wear those glasses any longer, which pinch and give me headaches. I'm warned that sometimes they don't get the alignment quite right on the first go and it requires a second procedure later for further adjustment, but I can be certain they'll at least significantly improve things and lessen the prescription I need. Hell, anything will be an improvement over what I've got...
Aside from that, another bonus chapter for Rise of Firefly is on the way and should be out in a couple weeks. Be looking for it! There should be at least one update of Into the Storm: The Flight of Firefly next month as well, after the release of my new Nightmare Night clopfic.
My eye problems aren’t so bad. I have one eye that is decent and one that is nearly impossible to see out of. The prescription for each eye is radically different. My brother is almost legally blind, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets eye surgery sometime.
Just relax and take it in. At least you aren’t having laser surgery where you have to be awake and you can see the laser and everything else. I had an uncle who had a detached retina and he said it was really weird seeing the utensils grab his eye and move stuff around.
