I figured I should do an OC for my second reading. After all, some of the canon pony-Arcana matchups are so obvious that they wouldn't be very fun or interesting. (I'm looking at you, Rainbow Dash.) Besides, I think it'd be fun to take a closer look at the extended universe the fandom has created. So today, I'm drawing for...

Not a winner, but I had a blast (pictures will be available in a future post), and I made some headway on Turnabout Storm chapter revamps as well. No less than four updated chapters were posted last night, meaning the entire story through Part 37 is now updated. Aside from the usual edits, I added some additional details in several places, including how and why Pinkie is able to do metalwork and regarding how exactly Twilight summoned Phoenix and The Judge originally:

Finished off the last two chapters this past weekend. Part 66 - Revelry, Race and Return had no major changes; just the usual cleanup plus a tweak or clarification here and there. For the most part I was already pretty happy with it, though I did make it a point to update one of the graphics:

So, apparently they're making a sequel series to Turnabout Storm, known as Elements of Justice. I cannot fully express how much hype I'm feeling for this right now.
With Part 59 - Of Mares and Men seeing some hefty additions to the attorney misconduct board scenes.
Before, the hearings were too short, and a major figure was not heard from--The Judge. Now, he has some very pointed things to say about both Phoenix and Trixie's performance during Rainbow Dash's trial, and Fluttershy makes a plea on Phoenix's behalf as well:

Progress is slowing on the TAS revamp as chapters lengthen, sorry. But have an excerpt of the updated part 21 so you can get some sense of what we're doing:

Welcome new readers! After a painfully slow initial climb, Before the Storm: The Rise of Firefly hit the featured list the last two chapter releases and a slew of new likes, tracks and faves was the result. I'm gratified to see the story gaining traction now, and though it certainly had a rough start as I've had to go back in and make some major fixes to earlier chapters, I'm very happy with it now. This has been my favorite story to work on of late, and I actually wrote the last chapter
Parts 24 and 25 have been revamped, and this includes some major changes to Part 24 - Double Blackmail, the second meeting of Phoenix with Sonata where he breaks her psyche-locks.
Aside from the usual edits and dialogue/detail additions, I made two major changes: first, I dropped Pinkie’s fourth wall break when she told Phoenix to go to Fluttershy’s cottage based on what was in the script, since I don’t want to imply this story isn’t really happening, replacing it with a different Pinkie-sense based explanation. Second, I changed Pinkie’s reason for missing the trial to something a bit more acceptable and much more in keeping with her character.
Part 42 - Fluttershy: Lost and Found, you may recall, was the second bonus chapter I wrote, detailing Twilight's efforts to find Fluttershy after she was told off by Rainbow and left the courthouse crying. With the M-rated Lawyer and The Unicorn side story/follow-on now finished, would there be interest in a T-rated version of the 12-chapter trial that occurs in the middle of it? A couple weeks ago, I asked if folks would be interested in a T-rated version of The Heart's Turnabout, the trial that takes place during The Lawyer and The Unicorn. I got just three yeas, which was marginal for doing it, while others told me it wasn't worth it.
So I wake up to find that this happened. Not sure what role Shatner will play, but it's got me wondering if we'll get to the point of Gargoyles where half the cast is voiced by Star Trek actors.

Everything through the end of the first day of trial (part 12) has been completely revamped. The chapters have been carefully edited and expanded to include additional detail and dialogue, and use a lighter touch on the early shipping. I also dramatically cut back on overuse of Lavender Unicorn Syndrome (or Violet Unicorn Syndrome in this case--it really made me grimace rereading this how often I did it back then), fixed some of the more stilted lines, added a few additional Ace Attorney game
