Haven’t given an update on Eros in a while. The short of it is that I did resume work on the new chapter over the past few days to the tune of getting it up to nearly 4,000 words, but was only able to write it in fits and starts given I’m still recovering from this illness.

Long time readers will know The Eastern Empire aka the Sombra Empire is on a continent not connected by land to The Canterlot Commonwealth.

There the form of government is more authoritarian then one can imagine, and it all filters up to King Sombra. Though believed by most to be a simple title passed on through the years, few if any left alive know that the King Sombra that founded the empire is still alive after centuries of rule.

The first of several chapters in the runup to Halloween is underway. As I've delayed it long enough, it's time for the resolution of the duel/mating round between Night Owl and Shadowdash, as well as advancing the story further over in Canterlot.

Also, I've just about decided to make a new bonus chapter for the original Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising, as the new chapter will reference a previously unseen event in it involving Rainbow and Gilda.

Well, that was a good and productive October, folks. I did everything I said I would, coming out with two new chapters of Feathered Hearts - Continuation and Chronicles, two of Midnight Rising, and one of Nightmare Night. So I’m going to try to keep the momentum going into November.

To make a long story short: Five updated chapters (10-14) are now in prereads, and given the amount of text involved, I’ve given my prereaders a full week to work on them. A sixth updated chapter is nearly done (22: Know Thy Ally) and a seventh is planned (25: Battle of Bale, Part 1) by the time we’re ready to go.

It's currently coming in at just shy of 16k words, meaning it'll probably be over 17k by the time I'm through with editing passes and all the additional detail I usually add.

But as so often happens in my writing, the chapter got too big for its wingboners and I couldn't put everything I wanted into it without doubling the length. I’m pleased to say the latest Firefly chapter was very well-received, so I’m going to officially say that I did Denim_Blue’s changeling lore and characters proud. Queen Lepidoptes has basically turned into the anti-Chrysalis as far as Changeling Queens go, so I’m now making plans to bring her descendant-led hive into Feathered Hearts.
