Firefly chapter down, Firefly chapter upcoming; implications for Feathered Hearts · 5:30pm Jun 1st, 2022
I’m pleased to say the latest Firefly chapter was very well-received, so I’m going to officially say that I did Denim_Blue’s changeling lore and characters proud. Queen Lepidoptes has basically turned into the anti-Chrysalis as far as Changeling Queens go, so I’m now making plans to bring her descendant-led hive into Feathered Hearts.
Which is not to say that the hive of Queen Chrysalis won’t be heard from as well. Politics makes for strange bedfellows, and an existential war for survival can make allies out even out of the bitterest of enemies, like the griffons and ibex. The Changelings may well have important information on the Cloven, and even a relationship that has yet to be mentioned or explained. But one that could be turned to the Kingdom’s advantage in due course.
As for my upcoming writing schedule, I made a promise to readers back in February that I would attempt to complete no less than six Firefly chapters by the start of summer, which is Sunday, June 19th. So far, I’ve done four. Completing a fifth one should not be an issue, as I’ve already got the first 500 words down on it, but finishing the sixth may be tight. The reason for that promise was that I’d been neglecting Firefly for the better part of a year in favor of Feathered Hearts, but that doesn’t mean I can’t use the former to drop hints or teasers for the latter, even for events even 700 years in the story’s future. Or even introduce characters that will yet be seen there.
What do I mean? You’ll just have to wait and see, but if you’ve learned nothing else from my stories, it’s that everything is interlinked. So it will be here. 
After that, I’m going to shift over to writing clop for a bit, starting with finishing off Harmonic Resonance. That will be three chapters, with the first two being commissioned chapters involving the final pair of Equestria Girls to ascend (Sunset and Sci-Twi in that order. It will be concluded by an epilogue chapter, which, with the permission of the commissioner, will involve a final and very adult twist.
An attempt to finish off the revamped version of Midnight Rising over the remainder of the summer will follow, so I can spend the fall concentrating on the long-awaited climactic phase of Nightmare Night. But for fans of Firefly and Feathered Hearts, fear not—I will attempt to keep my clop batteries fresh by throwing in at least the occasional Into the Storm and Feathered Hearts main story/clop chapter.
So in other words, my usual ambitious writing schedule lies ahead. Should be something for everyone in it. In the meantime, a warm welcome to new readers of Firefly, and thanks again to all reading for following my works.
If you manage to complete Harmonic Resonance before the end of July you've at least got one less story that you need to work on. If you also finish Midnight Rising this year you've got a slightly easier schedule to work with. Still I hope your balancing act will be successfull since I'm hoping to see more of your stories.
My calendar says Tuesday the 21st, so maybe you have a day or two of grace period.
Though I can't care either way, new content is new content. I don't believe in deadlines because then you have to rush and content quality can — and has in the past — suffer(ed) for it.

You’re right. Guess I read the calendar wrong. With the 5th chapter already draft complete, it doesn’t look like I’ll need it, though.
You’re right again. But don’t worry. I am more than willing to postpone a release If I feel it isn’t ready yet. I’ve done it before, and I’m sure I’ll do it again and again. I guess I don’t believe in deadlines so much as plans, which include a release schedule. The latter represents a goal but not a necessity. It at least gives me a starting point and something to aim for.

I agree! It’s always nice to see such positive feedback. And thanks for leaving your own. It’s past time I start replying to your comments on earlier Firefly chapters, so I promise to get to those shortly.
