With T-minus 5 days to launch, status of the new story is as follows:
For fans of Into the Storm: The Flight of Firefly, I will be aiming for a new chapter release this weekend or early next week, depending on how quickly I can get the rest written. The new chapter currently stands at 3500 words and should be at least double that length by the end. Expect it to be the second part of a three-chapter arc dealing with the Empire's first-day attack on Cloudsdale, and as promised previously, it will be told from a new point of view, the identity of whom
As anybody who has read my stories knows, thestrals figure just slightly prominently. Five Stars had a thestral herdmate who later became a famous singer, Fell Flight has thestral eyes and ancestry in Firefly, and over in Nightmare Night...
Well. Anybody who reads that knows what's happening there.
Just as soon as my prereaders have finished with it and I've given it an editing pass or three, possibly as soon as tonight. Readers of Nightmare Night who enjoy the figurative plot more than the literal kind may wish to give this one a look, as the chapters are shorter and completely given over to M-rated action without any of the scene-setting or world/character building I've got in the parent story.
Short answer: I'm not sure. I've released three straight Nightmare Night chapters, but I'm disappointed in the response on the latest one.
Are subject to change, and mine have, but in a good way. The next Midnight Rising chapter is nearly ready and will launch tonight. I originally said I had two chapters in progress? Make that three. I've decided to solve the dilemma of which scene to leave for another chapter by giving them all their own full chapters, and their deserved spotlight in turn. First up is our fair lady Rarity, newly minted dragon aficionado.
Well, in terms of travel, they're nonexistent since my parents told me to stay away. No Christmas with family this year, though I know I'm hardly alone in that. But as for writing...
Well, I've decided a couple things. I think, after nearly four months of doing it continuously, I've burned out on clop. That's bad news for the Unleash the Magic series, but good news for Firefly. And possibly one other story.
As seems to be the case so often for my writings, the new bonus chapter I'm attempting to do has expanded beyond the bounds of a single chapter, and may end up being as many as three before all is said and done. It's not possible for me to finish it all by the weekend, but since a release was promised on Halloween, you'll still get it in the form of a 5k word chapter that will serve as the intro to the Gilda action, 3rd person but told from her perspective.
My knee is improving and creative energies recovering, enabling me to write again. And thus, having received enthusiastic prereader approval (thanks, AJA!), the next updated Midnight Rising chapter is going live late this afternoon before I head for the gym to get swole--about 5pm US Eastern.
There is a poll I posted on an earlier blog against Feathered Hearts: Continuation and Chronicles asking what I should work on next. As I decided it was unfair to tag that story but exclude my others, I’m posting additional blogs for readers of my other active stories as well. If you want to sound off, you can do so
Two weeks late, a new Nightmare Night chapter is finally nearing completion. My apologies for the delay, but my muse has been elsewhere (on Feathered Hearts) and it just had not been coming quickly. It should be going to prereaders shortly, and be released either Saturday or Sunday depending on when the prereads are in. Helping matters is that I have today off and can work on it. Veterans Day is a bank holiday, and I work for a bank if you didn’t already know. That gives us a few
The new Harmonic Resonance chapter is a big one as befits our Human Element of Generosity, coming in at a healthy 10.5k words. It will be released as soon as prereads are in, and I have the approval of the commissioner on it. In all honesty, this one gave me some trouble as I tried something different in this chapter than the previous ones, seeking a suitable ascension for the lovely Miss Rarity. But it seems to have turned out pretty well. You be
I should have it draft completed for review by AJA tonight. Most likely it will launch Saturday morning, but no later than Sunday morning. Looks like it'll come in a bit under 8000 words. No teaser, sorry, only because this is one of those chapters that I really don't want to to give anything away so readers get it full force. You already know who wins this, but as they say, the fun is getting there! And it's time to check back in with Starlight, to see how she's holding up under constant
It’s going to be a big one, with 9400 words already written and several sections still to write or complete. If it gets too big I’ll break it up again, but for now, it remains intact. I will be attempting to get it ready for release in time for next weekend or sooner. In the meantime? Everyone’s been patient, so here’s a teaser. I promised this would be the climactic confrontation between Nightmarity and Eclipse, and here’s the immediate lead up its final action:
It seems to have come together rather nicely in the end, settling in at not far under 12k words with more likely to be added before it goes live. I think with this one, readers will like the coda as much as the main action, and there’s a good measure of side action in here as well that might set the stage for future bonus material. At this point, it’s waiting for feedback from the commissioner and my prereading team. Best guess for launch is Tuesday or Wednesday night, depending on how fast I
After a full year away. Sorry, folks, but so many other things had my attention and priority before this. The ending of the story has to wait for Midnight Rising to be finished in order to properly set up the climax, but there’s room for at least one and possibly two more intermediate chapters in the meantime.
With two chapters of Midnight Rising released along with two M-rated chapters of Feathered Hearts - Continuation and Chronicles this month, all that leaves is the final thing I promised—a new chapter of Nightmare Night. I said I’d have one out in time for Halloween, and having worked on it steadily all week, I’m pleased to say it will be ready, launching Monday (Halloween) night.
Well, folks, after a very successful release of all my previously unpostable Feathered Heart chapters—five new likes! —there is one last order of business for me to finish before I shift over to Unleash the Magic for the next six weeks, and that’s the promised next chapter of Feathered Hearts.
The nice thing about working for a bank is bank holidays, of which President’s Day is one. So I’m off today, and I figured I’d give folks an overdue update on the new chapter of Midnight Rising.
