Love this story and how it's progressed! I still think it's a shame it somehow doesn't get nearly enough attention from other readers though, especially for a story so great as this!
*looks at Peri's companion perk*
"Called it!"
Another great chapter keep it up
8016985 Yeah, this story need a serious Signal Boost, because for the moment it's one of theses hidden pearls of FiMFiction...
Talking about the chapter... I didn't see the number of times he did it with Peri, we need to know ! We must know if a stallion can break Homage and Littlepip's record !
Also, good that Fast got forced to quit the "Castle Cleaning"... He was still in Dark Shroud mode, aaaaaaaand, i must admit, between the 'pressure release' ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and the party, he's cooling down good. But what concern me is that now, he still have the "Dark Shroud" in his head, even if it's less 'vengeful mode' and more 'possessive stud' mode. He's never 'asleep' now.
Also, Fast should have looked inside the chamber, it looks unbroken, but inside could have been another story altogether. And the more i see, the more i think that Fast IS the Shroud. The resemblances are becoming uncanny. At the beginning he was just imitating his Comic idol, now, since his ascension, he's taking more on the book of the Original... let's hope he avoid total corruption...
Also interesting to note that the Shroud was originally a Tantabus-like being, corroborating the fact that Luna literally created the Original.

8017512 Thanks and glad you enjoy it / think it should have more attention. May be because I make no real attempts at advertising, though I did force myself to get it added to the Equestria Daily FOE poll thingy here which brought in a few new views by the nifty stats widget. Only my own vote there, but feel free to add to it and be sure to vote for all the other good stories listed, no limit on how many you can vote on and found a few good ones I hadn't come across yet that way.
Still happy and think it's doing fairly well though. Upvotes outnumber the downvotes by a comfortable margin, you guys enjoy it and contribute to the story with comments and such (I do closely read, just have issues adding my own, Fast is not that far removed from myself after all). Most importantly still just greatly enjoying writing it, why it keeps pouring out at this rate. Haven't written anything in years and picking it back up has been nice, so fairly happy with a first effort joining the community. Flattered you guys think so highly of it, that's plenty, besides readers steadily seem to keep finding it, so hopefully it'll spread over time for others to enjoy.
This story is a lifesaver at work, love every second of it. I wonder, is the Shrouded Stallion in the castle sealed physically? Is he a spirit? Can't wait for Fast to find all the keys, probably not a good idea to go poking the sleeping dog though.
Okay I finally got some time to start reading again and I have to say I'm really liking the direction this fic is headed in so far! I voted in the poll, and would vote to get it featured here if I knew how that worked.
Getting back to the story, I think fixing that castle up will give Fast and his allies a serious advantage over the Gunners (who will probably have the Institute backing them when / if they attack). Getting the AA turrets up and running would be a great way to force a ground-based assault by stopping airborne enemies from just flying over the walls.
Also glad to see Fast finally seal the deal with Peri. Maybe if he gets some pointers from Ivy he can use unity to taunt the other alicorns making them even more jealous / crazed. It would be the MOM hub all over again!
Gotta say I was wondering if anyone was going to hear them or not
I kind of doubt they got far enough away to be outta ear shot. Judging by how you described it earlier in the chapter
Holy crap that little story at the end was AWESOME!
Also am I the only one who thought of Prince Blueblood when hearing about that "noble"
Not saying I thought they were the same pony just that they had some personality similarities
Alright, before I read ahead I'm going to throw out a theory here.
Fast is the the Shrouded Stallion. Not like, he's pretending to be or he's gained the reputation of him. I mean he is literally the Shrouded stallion. Whether reincarnated or possessed or genetically engineered or what have you, the actual Shrouded Stallion is in there. Most likely as an Institute attempt to bring back Luna's guardian of justice.
The Institute was at the castle he was sealed in. Mobius was there, the most mysterious member of the institute thus far. MAS was there. They wanted something, and the Stallion is the most valuable war asset in there. I've seen someone else in another comment theorize Mobius was Fast's dad, which seems more and more likely with Fast's vague answer about what he did for a living before the Stable. It would also explain how the Institute had a presence in the Stable, and why Mobius resurfaced in the world so soon after Kellogg's raid.
As another point, the voices in Fast's head. It's been said in this story and other Fallout: Equestria stories that Rarities soul jar figures seemingly speak to the holder. Fast has probably the most extreme case I can recall, with them almost at war with eachother due to the presence of the Shroud's dark voice. A voice that only started after he picked up the figure from his house, a figure that I believe the Diamond City zebra said - forget which one exactly, pretty sure it was him - housed a part of Fast's soul. But it has the dark voice of the Shroud's justice, similar in execution to the comic story at the end of this chapter.
And isn't that exactly how Fast always executes his Justice? Let the people who ask forgiveness and were just following orders go and do better? The very first time he turned to the Shroud persona he did that. In the Museum, where it happened basically on a whim. He let the scared Gunner run to scare his fellows after killing the rest, didn't he? At Thundega, he spared the raider who was just screaming. He spared Moondancer when she seemed broken. The raider bridge on the way to Diamond City, he gave them a day to leave or let a trader across. The only people he doesn't give a chance to surrender are unrepentantly cruel and only beg because they're scared for their lives, not because they're actually sorry. Like Gunter.
And perhaps this could just be his prewar attitude, but he instantly devoted himself to Jade when he met her, throwing himself to her mission of meeting the Minutemares. Because he thought she was a Princess. Like the Shroud's devotion to Luna. And now Jade has a crown cutie mark and is called a Princess at his beckoning.
Otehr hints include that the Shroud and Fast are basically identical physically. How Fast is stealthy. How with no training or experience he has been able to best savage raiders, trained killers, and experienced mercs who've been in the Wasteland for years.
As things are going, I wouldn't be surprised to learn through these comics that the Shrouded Stallion's secret identity was a bit of a mare's stallion. I'm not letting that alicorn biology fool me, Fast. You've been ogling every creature that's the opposite gender since basically your first day on the outside. Alicorn puberty and libido potion can't excuse that, even if it's made it worse.
God I wish I could remember what exactly Fast's cutie mark was. I bet my theory could sink or swim on that alone. But I know how these long stories turn out. I know you guys love your twists at the end, your huge revelations about the main character just as they make their greatest sacrifice. Littlepip's virtue and the true meaning of Blackjack's cutie mark come to momd.
I'm probably misremembering a few things. Not exactly a short story you have here, so fact checking is a bit difficult. I just wanted to get this thoery down somewhere before it's proved right or wrong. I've got about 30 chapters to go before I'm caught up. Right or wrong I'm going to hop to it!
I swear if I had 50 dollars for every sex scene for this entire story so far... I would be rich....
ooookaaay. Point... In the 'council' scene with the Minutemares, our intrepid heroes, and the leaders of Eclipse... the use of the word 'fucking' should have been... 'Bucking'.
***Her normally passive face clouded a bit and she gave a shaky whinny, "I don't like thinking about before. It was bad. I came from a bad place, it hurt, bad ponies making me work, red eyes everywhere... Not like yours though, I like yours, these were bad, mean... watching from the walls, waving from flags, bad... I don't feel bad doing what the mother wanted though, I followed orders, she was our mother, she knew best." ***
So Peri was once a pony in the service of 'Red Eye', who fell due to the 'Lightbringer' we all know as Little Pip. Interesting. I don't suppose that Peri remembers if she was male or female back then, not that it matters. She's an Alicorn now.
Finally! Jade unbends enough to share her stallion. I think Peri is quite pleased and wants MORE... but then again, so does Fast.
I LOVE the final bit of this chapter... The Legend of the Shrouded Stallion... Luna's 'Dark Knight', her 'Shadowy Sword of Vengence and Justice. I absolutely loved how the 'Original' Shroud's 'shroud' was the death shroud of an innocent mare, killed by a self-serving, greedy bastard of a 'noble', who didn't deserve her and abused his position and power.
Logically, the Shroud's origin takes place BEFORE Luna becomes Nightmare Moon. Perhaps the Shroud's descent into madness was partially due to Luna's matching 'fall' into her own 'pit of despair and darkness'? The Shroud was created out of her need for Justice and Vengence for an innocent slain, and his creation in the 'real world' powered by Luna's 'Dream Realm' magic and the slain mare's death shroud.
MLP Season 5, Episode 13. 'Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?' was an example of Luna's 'Dream Realm' magic affecting the dreams of her ponies, and nearly escaping into the 'Real World' to wreak havoc.
MLP Season 7, Episode 10. 'A Royal Problem', is where Luna reminds Celestia after their cutie marks are switched, that Luna's powers do not extend into the Real World and that Celestia's power cannot affect the Dream Realm.
This, I feel is why the shroud of the innocent, slain mare... to me, at least... was the 'key' to the Shrouded Stallion's creation in the 'Real World', but using Luna's powers of the Dream Realm.
This also explains, to me, why it was 'Tia that cornered and defeated the Shrouded Stallion in the end. Since he had most, if not all of Luna's powers, yet existed in the real world. Luna would kill herself undoing what she had done, imbuing the Shroud with all, or nearly all, her magic. Plus, the Shroud would be ill-suited to fight 'Tia in the real world, where her magic was most powerful.
feel free to disagree with me. I love a lively debate!
The Frank Pony
Is there any reason Fast can't build some kind of rig to hold him in place while he repeatedly uses his lighting spell? It would allow him to discharge the excess power he gets from soaking up rads in a controlled manner.

Good comment. His cutie mark is a sword and shield with a clock on it I think.

Which is what Luna calls the shrouded stallion, and what mama Xara calls Fast.

With his newfound alicorn strength he can actually stand still while using his lightning spell, what happens now is that when he flies and uses it it flings him back. Im not sure what device you could use to steady him. Unfortunately I think its just gonna be a case of learning how to counter the spell with his flying abilities like flapping harder or using it to push him back purposely.
Ah how history loves to repeate itself.
Two alicorns banged.
