When it rains, it pours · 6:30pm Oct 7th, 2021

Hey everyone.

Next chapter should be ready to be released soon. The chapter after that might also take along time to write, though. We're covering some topics that I'm not particularly enthusiastic to write about, so it's easy for me to procrastinate. Furthermore, I've got stuff happening IRL.

I've gone deaf in my left ear.

Happened suddenly, falls into the "we don't know why this is happening," category, and might never recover my hearing. I am super dizzy and nauseous, though that should clear up in a few days as my body gets used to the new normal. Already, I haven't thrown up once, let alone the 10 times I did yesterday when this all started.

Finally, I have an Actuary math exam next month. Long-time readers might know of it as the exam I said I would take way back in February. If I'm responsible enough, I'll put CE on a temporary hiatus until that exam is done. But I love to procrastinate, and the odds of me passing that exam are low anyways (don't worry, I still benefit greatly from taking it, even if I fail).

Anyways, here's wonderwall.

Shit, dude. I imagine you've already gone and seen a doctor to get that checked out? If you're throwing up after that happened, it sounds like something happened to the tubes in your ear that contain fluid. Hope it all ends up working out for you mate.

So I guess we’ll have to change our expectations

Yes, both sections of my inner ear are fucked up somehow (hearing loss AND balance loss). I've been given steroids and sent on my way, there's nothing more they can do (inner ear stuff is a relatively unknown and impossible to diagnose field, compared to something like tonsils).

Basically, I can't be any of the obvious stuff, so I'm getting treated for sudden hearing loss.

Will the exam involve any kind of scan? For it to happen suddenly sounds like an infection with inflammation

Exam is unrelated, it's a math exam. The thing with my ear is nothing simple or identifiable.

Wishing you all the best, KK.

Fuck dude, that sucks. I really hope they can figure something out as to why that happened to ya. Wishing you the best, mate.

I expected it to turn to the Rickroll after 10s tbh

Also, that sucks, KK. Hope you get better, even if with rando inner ear stuff that sounds unlikely.

Damn dude hope you get better. As for the story don't kill yourself over it getting better is the most important thing at the moment for you. Well the only good thing to maybe come out of this is that for the most part math doesn't need your hearing. Well joking aside hope you get better.

Well, shit happens but let's hope it is something with a cause that can be found and I hope you do pass your exam. I certainly don't mind waiting, done so with many stories before and IRL shit takes precedent. Take care mate!

Fuck man... That's just a bad hand delt. Hope things turn around for the better, and I hope your ear isn't a permanent loss.

take all of the time you need , it sure sounds like life has taken a dump on you.

That exact thing happened to my uncle at the beginning of the year, had multiple tests and scans which showed nothing, but the hearing did slowly return after a month or two. Not the best I know but it's something :/

Effin heck... Sorry on the ear, though the dizziness with it is worrying.

Vertigo is awful to deal with it. May they find something fixable with the ear..

hearing loss fucking sucks, somebody fired ,338 right next to my unprotected ears, couldn't balance right or hear for awhile.. I have almost everything back... but yeah, that blows.
good luck with your exam though:twilightsmile:

Take as much time as you need, we'll be more than willing to wait for you to be better, or if no solution arises, comfortable in your new position. I really do hope this doesn't become something more serious, and I'll keep you in mind.

Oh dear, hearing loss in one ear is one of the most agonizing things I have ever heard about, I hope you recover soon. :applejackunsure:

Good luck on the math test, as a person who strugles with it, I know it's hard to face and understand it, specially the more subjective parts of math, so do your best :pinkiesad2:

As someone who was born with a hearing impairment, my condolences. But how can the doctors not know? Shouldn't they be able to X-ray your head or get you an MRI? See what's going on inside of that ear? Sounds like an inner ear thing to me personally, but I have no medical training what-so-ever.

MRI would apparently not find anything 9/10 times, and the treatment would be the same in the tenth time if they actually found something.

Basically, there's only one possible cure for this type of ailment.

It's a bit late, but...

At least your hearing is all right now.

Sarcasm. This is sarcasm... Sorry to hear about the loss of hearing in your left ear. Deffinately sounds difficult, especially when it just seemingly happens out of nowhere. Must be a very jarring experience. :fluttershysad:
