Gameloft Game · 5:01pm Nov 29th, 2012

I stopped playing when I hit level 43, unlocked Dash, and saw that it would take 500 gems to buy her. Yannow, the one character I wanted more than any of the rest of them. I still hadn't gotten Rarity, for 90 gems. (If you don't play the game, note that gems are rare. You're lucky to get a single one when you level up. Occasionally you get one or two in other places in the game, but it's not like bits, which you earn thousands of by running businesses in your town.)

Now, you can also buy gems in-game, using real-world money. To buy 590 gems - the minimum required amount to complete the game - would cost me $50. The same as a full XBox 360 game would cost me.

Sure, they ended up dropping Dash's price to 90 gems, same as Rarity. But I was already gone, and even if I hung around, I'm not paying $20 for the 180 gems I'd still need.

I did get a few laughs out of the fallout from the game, though. Like this account at Kotaku, and this excellent comic.

Heres two hacks for you.
The first makes all items free, the second converts everything into fairly priced Bits so you can contiue to play legitimetly without spending any money.

I personaly used the second hack whilst abusing the time cheat thing to generate infinate Bits (Because thats totaly different from just making everything free). Now I just need another 47 element of magic shards and the game is done.

I'd heard references to a PonyLiberator.exe but hadn't taken the time to investigate it. Maybe I will. I've left the game so long now that I have parasprites swarming around that I don't have enough shards to kill.

Ugh, stupid parasprites. I messed up with the time clock thingy, and now I am buried in a metric flank-ton of them myself.
Half tempted to wipe my game and start again.

I was going to give that game a look, but all I've heard is stuff like this. So disappointing.

I get my pony gaming fix by other means, anyway. I beat X-COM with a humanized Elements of Harmony squad. I played Saints Row: The Third as Rarity, the fabulous queen of Steelport's grimy underbelly. And wandering Skyrim's snowy reaches is all the better if you're Twilight Sparkle, lost in time and space. I swear I've read half the books in that game purely as a role-playing exercise. You know she would.

Still looking for a good racing game where I can paint a car Rainbow Dash colors, although she made in admirable starship pilot in Faster Than Light.

We can make do, is what I'm saying.

I found a workaround of my own, but the core game as it stands is pretty damn ridiculous. It's a shining example of how not to do freemium games.

Haa you have me giggling like a fool. Any ideas as to who I should roleplay as on fallout new Vegas?

OMG! Humanized Mane Six X-Com!
I thought I was the only one! :raritystarry:

Rainbow Dash is best Assault Trooper. :rainbowdetermined2:

That's what they get for trying to rip cybergeeks off. I feel that song coming on.

Anyway, I'm sure there will be other licensed games. Better luck next time.

As someone who's played a lot of video games over the years, I've found a good rule is to assume that any game based off a film, TV series, book or whatever that's currently popular is going to suck until you have hard evidence to the contrary from some neutral source.

The ET the Extra Terrestrial game. Never forget.

She's 500 gems if you are in airplane mode. She's 90 gems for me and I was able to download enough free games and stuff to get enough to buy what I needed.

There is a unlock hack for android/iphone. check out reddit, I believe Penstroke made a blog on his ideal Ponyville and how he got it through it. I won't try it till I at least get my Scootaloo... somehow now need 9 hearts to get her >< then my CMC team is complete!
