I'll be a year older in less than four hours when the clock strikes twelve. As shitty as this year has been, it seems to have gone by quick. In hindsight, that is. I guess going through the motions of life without much thought tends to speed up time. The days kinda start to blur together after a while, and suddenly I find myself getting older.

It's kinda depressing, really. Unlike what people should feel, jubilation over their birthday, I only get depressed. Part of me can't help but dwell on not pushing myself forward with what I want with life, and instead stuck doing crap I honestly hate because I have no choice. I have constant nightmares of being trapped and running away; running away just seems so nice, to just escape it all and disappear completely for just a little bit.

I'd come back when I'm refreshed.

I don't really have any motivation to do anything for my birthday, other than get up early in the morning for work. After that, I'd honestly love to lay down and let it go by like all the others before it. But I have other plans to force me to do something. Gonna hit up a casino and binge eat and drink till I feel something other then the melancholy trolley.

Despite being of age last year, I never actually been to a casino. I've only done bar stuff when I turned twenty-one, nothing else. So, to first times I suppose. Can't be any worse than nothing. Though that sounds like a lie to myself.

Though off that dreary thought, I should mention my progress on "Hymn For The Blind."

It's going at a slow pace, as per usual with that story. I have part of the first scene done so far, and working hard to make sure it aligns with my vision as best as I can. I don't expect to have the second part to be done this year, and say it'll likely be around the middle of January. While I do polish other works of mine up, I want to make this one a flawless diamond. I want it to be something I can actually be proud of for once.

It's a story that's incredibly personal to me, and rushing it would be a disservice to it and myself.

But you will see content from me this year, oh yes you will. It is CRIMBO! And as such, I joined in on Jinglemas. When I eventually get the pony or ponies I'm going to write, and for who, I'll get to work on it and publish it with the other stories in the secret Santa collab. So that should be loads of fun!

I've always been a fan of seasonal stories, especially those done in collaboration.

I also want to give a shout out, even if doesn't really need it, to a story I've been reading as of late.

While this story struggles with showing instead of telling from time to time, it has been a color in my otherwise dull life. Every time I sit down to read a chapter or two I can't help but walk away with a smile on my face and my mind buzzing with ideas of where the story is heading next. I'm a sucker for sci-fi, especially pony kind since it is underappreciated, and this one is a gem. I even own a physical copy of it in two volumes, because I needed it for my pony book collection.

Seriously, go read it. You will not be disappointed if you're a fan of sci-fi. I even did fan art of the main character!

Nothing special, just a ten minute doodle or so.

But that's all I really have to comment on about the state of myself right now. I'm not really verbose or interesting, so I tend to be brief when discussing updates and the like.
