    A Tip Jar

Just in case anyone is feeling particularly generous, I have started my own Ko-fi account. No particular goals or pressure, just if you wanna show appreciation, this is an outlet, as well as the likes you give, your libraries and the comment section.

    Eviction Update

I was lied to. Three weeks, not four. I have to be packed up and move out back to my Mum (towards which I felt feelings of self-harm, suicide and homicide) by August 1, despite both of us agreeing this is not good for us. My aunt doesn't care and is no long diplomatic about anything.

    I don't think I like her anymore.

    Eviction

As the title says, I'm getting evicted. The house I'm staying at is going on the market and at the time of publishing this blog, I only have four weeks to pack and leave. I don't know where I'll go, hopefully not back in with my mother (who was the reason I put myself in the hospital), but not many places or share houses accept unemployed, chronically depressed, welfare-receiving man-children

Okay, so, let's get this out of the way first.

I'll be attending Bronycon.

Me, an Australian, will be crossing the big ocean blue on the 22nd (tomorrow for me), and arriving in the States on the 23rd, staying with my grandparents until the 26th, then roadtripping with my friend and his friends all the way from New Mexico to Maryland. This is a big move for me, and I'm kinda-sorta excited to do this (honestly, it's feeling just like every other Friday night), but I really want to be a part of what hopefully isn't but probably is the last ever convention of this kind. Got a lot of friends to meet as well, and I'll be bringing Vegemite and Tim-Tams to share.

After Bronycon, I'll be attending Alicon in Adelaide, South Australia, August 17th - 18th and I'll be part of the writers' panel. The schedule isn't out yet, but I know I'll be sitting alongside TheSlorg, and it'll be hosted by Milo_Chalks. Fingers crossed I actually earn my keep, and possibly catch the attention of someone who may have use for my writing skills, or lack thereof.

So, what does all of this mean?

Lots of travelling, that's for sure. And because I've been writing Lapse and every other story as I go, rather than pulling them from a reserve, there's a fair to high chance that I won't have the focus to work on everything on a weekly basis, especially when I'm in the USA, hanging with friends and trying to be as active at the con as I feel comfortable with. As much as I like having a consistent output, I can't guarantee any progress in the coming week(s). Besides, I worry if I've been losing steam on writing for a while.

If I do take a break, perhaps I'll be a cruel little shit and write the rest of Lapse in my own time, rather than a chapter a week, and then dump everything on y'all without warning, clop included.
Wholesome romance bukkake FTW

So, we'll see what happens, but if a Friday/Saturday goes by without an update, I feel you all should be warned first, this is just because I'm hopping on a plane/using my grandparents' lackluster internet/lacking free wi-fi and don't want to use my phone's roaming data that'll charge me big monies, and not because I'm dead.

Unless one of my six planes crashes into the ocean or explodes over California.

God fucking damn Air Crash Investigations.

Have a good trip. I have completed the Great American Roadtrip™ several times, if you need advice on things to see along the way.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but you can rent pocket wifi for ~$10/day.

My dude, just enjoy yourself. You deserve a break!
Have fun, relax, explore, and simply savor the time with your friends.

None of us are going anywhere, so we can wait for more of your glorious stories.

Good luck and god speed.

Let's just leave the budget at "the bare necessities, some BC souvenirs, and my contribution to the gas and hotel room."

Remember, the Australian dollar is 0.6 of the USD, and I'm an unemployed uni student.

5092039 Aggressively this.

Freglz, chill. Give writing a break.
We will see you at BronyCon

When the whole squad is active.

Got it, so probably no big deviations from the direct route to see stuff.

I don't know where in New Mexico you're starting, but I'm guessing you'll probably be on Interstate 40 the first part of the trip. It parallels historic Route 66 for much of the way, and there are many related museums. Just west of Amarillo, Texas is Cadillac Ranch. East of the city is a similar attraction with VW Bugs. Oklahoma City has oil rigs on the front lawn of the state capitol. OKC is also where you have to make a choice to follow Interstate 44 to the north, or stay on 40. The southern route has toll roads in Virginia. The northern route is slightly shorter, but has tolls in Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

Taking 44 will guide you through Missouri. Near Devil's Elbow, there is a bar with bras on the ceiling. Hazlewood is the home of the Bigfoot monster truck. In St. Louis is the Gateway Arch. Also in St. Louis is the Budweiser brewery, which apparently offers free tasting.

East of St. Louis, you'll get onto Interstate 70 into Illinois and then Indiana. In Effingham, you'll pass at least the third enormous cross of the trip. Camby, Indiana has a Dr. Who museum. If you like racing, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has a museum. Dayton, Ohio has the free museum of the US Air Force.

Briefly, you'll pass through West Virginia and be into Pennsylvania. There's a coffee pot-shaped building and an ice cream sundae-shaped building just five miles apart. For things to do in Baltimore, Maryland - I have blogs for that.

If, all the way back in Oklahoma City, you elected to stay on 40, you'll go from Oklahoma to Arkansas. Little Rock has a strange amount going on, including a WWII submarine, a Korean gate, and a restaurant where your food is served with a model train. In Tennesee, both Memphis and Nashville are known for music and barbecue. Elvis' home is in Memphis. Near Oak Ridge, and the factory that was involved with the first nuclear bomb, is the Museum of Energy.

You'll then switch to Interstate 81 and cross into Virginia. Optimus Prime is in Roanoke. There's a National Jousting Hall of Fame in Mount Solon. Then, you'll take Interstate 66 towards Washington. I would recommend the Smithsonian. It's the world's largest museum spread across 11 buildings in the National Mall, and it's free.

Nice! Hope to see you there!

That's okay, not like my heart will be broken by not having my weekly Lapse to preread...

Worth it just to see you at Bronycon. Have fun, and enjoy the trip.

I'll make sure to come say hi to you.
