The 'Write an Episode' Challenge Story Written · 10:51pm Jun 20th, 2019

Hey guys.

I wrote a new story recently. It was for the informal challenge I posted about not too long ago. I managed to write one up in about three weeks that meets the criteria, and it was actually quite informative.

For starters it was very strange trying to write side-characters whilst not really having much time to focus on them; each line of dialogue had to be consistent, which was really the main thing I found myself focussing on. Everything else felt roughly normal, but with the added complications of pacing for the breaks.

It'd be great if folks could check it out and tell me how it 'felt' compared to an actual episode, particularly with regards to pacing. The word limit theory that was used as the basis to pace the story was based off of average dialogue densities and the average dialogue amounts in MLP episodes, but it's obviously not tested how well that theory translates into reality. More info is always helpful!

The story is called Teacher, Instructor, Dash, and is available for reading now!

Rainbow is sent to fill in for an instructor at the Wonderbolts Academy by Spitfire whilst the team handles a dull and uninteresting tour abroad.

After meeting the small team of promising recruits, Rainbow begins to worry that her position is a little more permanent than originally advertised! The only course of action is to hatch a plan or two to get out of it... and hopefully teach the recruits something along the way.

Cheers folks,

Hap
