What Is It You Like about B's Stories (Or Even B?) · 5:05pm Jun 3rd, 2019

Howdy, gang. Hitting you with a quick blog in the hope of courting a favor from you lovely lot.

I've always been curious as to why some folks follow me. Or even read my stories for that matter. Hearing your opinion on mesa would help greatly for the moment.

Anyhow. Back to writing I go.

A quick search reveals this is the only story of yours I’ve read, and it got cancelled. :applecry: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/388523/trailer-park-ponies

But I like how relaxed chatting with you is, and the fact that you’re not aloof and uncommunicative like some of the more popular authors on this site.

I especially like your Spike fics, including your recent story where you shipped him with Fluttershy.

You write good stuff. Damn good stuff. I'm jealous of how prolific some writers on here are, you included. Some drop 2 stories a week while I'm slowly chugging away at my stuff which happens once in a blue moon.
Overall, the fact that you continue to write is something I respect.

If I'm being honest, I've read about 15 of your stories and I plan on reading more, but whenever I journey through one of your tales, I feel a flow of inspiration, I too, wish to spread. Whether it be love or sadness, I want to convey the same emotion you put into your work. Also, I think you're a great writer and I learn a lot of new techniques from your stories.

Your writing has a really unique and well-executed balance of sentimentality and wittiness. You can be heartfelt, but also maintain a surprisingly sharp sense of humor at the same time. I've read plenty of stories that try to take on similar balances and just end up coming off as either too sappy or too pretentious, but you can consistently hit that target dead-center.

Oh, there's a few reasons. I don't remember them.
I do know that out of the many Spike authors, your stories irritate me the most sO I rEaD theM t0 R3meMber 7hE p4In s0 I kn0W 1'm 4Live!!!!
I'm sure I have good ones.

B is the second letter in the alphabet.

If it's one thing right off the top of my head, it's gotta be the feel of the words that are written upon the page. Maybe it's the selection, maybe it's the flow. Perhaps the way that a story is told without the glitter and glam of some writers (such as myself) who try to pack in as much detail and descriptions as we can to paint a picture. Sometimes, simple things can tell you more than a thousand words can.

But I think it's from the woven messages inside that tell a lot, the character you've clearly written the most about; Spike, and how closely you seem to relate to the dragon. He is a very fluid and not so black and white as a lot of the other characters from the series are. He changes, he learns, he isn't truly one way or the other in terms of his personality. He feels, he has bad days, good days, he lies to save himself, he tells the truth when he knows it's right, but most of all.

He's flawed.

And from that, I feel like a lot of people can easily relate to that, consciously or not there are parts of us that are unsure, and in a weird spot just like him. But moving on from that, I like the fact that less can be more in some instances of your writing, going to be going off the story "I Didn't Mean to Kiss Scootaloo," There is no big paragraphs that look like chunks of words being chucked at the reader, but yet, the story is still told, and the readers mind fills in the blanks left by that kind of writing. The visualizations, the choice of words and the way it's presented it visually appealing and there is good storytelling to boot.

I personally feel like it brings me back to when I first started to get into reading mlp fanfiction, way back almost six years ago. It just sparks that old fire back to life, and reminds me of the simpler times when the whole community was in it's infancy. Those are only the safe for work stories... Don't even get me started on the smut stuff :raritywink:

But all in all, I think a big part is just ease of reading for new and old readers, to be able to get into any story of yours. It's not terribly wordy, nor is it too simple to hold someones attention. A good balance of great storytelling, clear but engaging writing, and just a lot of deep meanings that really hook readers that like to dig deeper.

That's just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth, but do know that I think you're a damn good writer. One that has such inspiration and motivation behind every word. Keep up the good work; and there will always be bros for macro.

You are a nice guy, you're amazingly prolific, and some day I might read one of your stories (or any story, it's been a long time—reading fiction is hard for me).

Despite what a lot of people may say, I think you’re a pretty dope guy and are a good guy to chill and shoot the shit with. Sure, there are times that aren’t your finest moments in some people’s eyes but everyone has times and moments like that, but overall I think you’re a good friend from my own personal experiences.

i fink u freeky
and i like you alot

You are my rival and I must destroy you.
Every story of yours I read gets me closer to that goal.
I am in no way enchanted by speaking with you, or find your stories amazing.
You are certainly not quickly becoming one of my best friends.
Now do be a dear and go stand on that very large X on the ground over there and await further instructions.

What an unusually vain question from you.

I'll admit, I've put more time into I Didnt Mean to Kiss Scootaloo and You're Not Her and those types than I have the rest, and those don't seem like they're your preferred fare. So, you decide for yourself how much you want this to apply.

But I like the optimism in your stories. You paint a picture where everyone's a little fractured. Everyone has their own baggage. Everyone has something they messed up. And the stories aren't about conquering that and becoming perfect in the end- they're about learning to live with that, even about learning to let others into your vulnerabilities, and realizing that you can still have a happy life even if you've gotta bring that baggage along.

And seeing your blog on here, and lurking in the discord, has kind of reaffirmed that image of you in my mind. Life is rough, and it isn't always going to work out exactly how you want it to, but how much fun you have along the way is entirely up to you.

Or, maybe that's just me. Maybe that's just a side effect of you wanting to flesh out your character-building skills between macro fics. I may never know. But it gives me a sense of optimism, which I always appreciate.

(Also I'm rather drunk. I apologise pre-emptively if this is too sappy.)

because you're my friend and you write good!!

You were one of the first people i read and the stories you wrote were so intense and intriguing that i couldn't put it down unless i finished them you go into such detail its like im there experiencing the story in front of me what you write are like portal in which i could see everything and know without really knowing its just so unique that its hard to put down:moustache:
