Though, more seriously: while I am deeply amused by this, there have been a lot of, shall we say, hints that there's some shippers on board over there.
And by that, I mean "the characters are fun to write together, so of course there was some shipping." I mean, seriously. They are nerds. They are One of Us. Of course some of them shipped them - at least in their heads and hearts.
Does this sink other ships?
Well, no. It was always left intentionally ambiguous for a reason, and it's not really canon. Well, explicitly so.
And I think that's probably for the best, truth be told; while the idea of canon RariJack is really fun, it's really something that, if they are going to do it, should only come up at the end of the show, unless they've actually got something they want to do with it for some reason (which, frankly, I doubt they do). While I'd love for them to have Lyra and Bon Bon kiss, I'm not sure if actually shipping the Mane Six on the show would be a good thing - while in my heart of hearts, I do love RariJack, I really do, this is ultimately a show for little kids, and a lot of little kids probably identify themselves with Rarity and Applejack (and other members of the Mane Six), so actively shipping them might be bad for that.
Or not; I mean, it's not like other kid's shows haven't made their characters hook up, including Korra.
Still, I'm not tremendously surprised by this revelation, given the things I've seen over the years.
I hope that everyone keeps on having fun with their shipping, regardless of what the future might bring.

True, but they were introduced as a couple from the get-go. They're a package deal.
And there's still some people who ship them with other people. Mostly Twilight.

But seriously, this alone is the happiest I've been as an MLP fan since Crusaders of the Lost Mark. I'm downright giddy. Yet, at the same time, if there's a romance out there shipping either AJ or Rares with anypony else, I'm still gonna read and support it because shippers gonna ship, and I am very much a shipper.
Even if there will always be that smug voice in the back of my head saying "Yeah, this works, but it'll never be backed by semi-canon."

Pretty much how I am, memes aside. I still like AppleDash quite a bit, but it's cool that this wasn't a case of me just putting on shipping goggles for once and instead was writer intentional to have a relationship like this between the two best girls of the series. It's nice and feels good, man.
I mean, taking this in a completely realistic, mature manner, it basically means "No one can tell you no if you see hints of Rarijack in the show." Which, y'know, is not the sort of thing we should have to wait for show runners to give us permission to do, and it applies to all ships. We can ship who we want! We don't need to fight over it! You can have multiple OTPs of different pairs of the same three characters!
Taken any other way, of course, it means

It’s not canon yet, the writers may have shipped it but that’s not what’s represented in the final product. However, this revolation could potentially prove the idea it may become legit canon.

I don't know, I see it pretty clearly represented in the final product. The writers have just done it with enough subtlety to leave room for plausible deniability if they need it, though.

I guess that’s one way to view things, but I don’t think it’s technically canon unless the special itself made it clear that was the intention. Not in a way where it’s debatable shipping, it would have to be done in a way where you couldn’t deny that’s what was happening. Hell, something as simple as a quick kiss would’ve done that perfectly.
