This is why I refuse to watch Zexal · 2:50am Jan 21st, 2019
Don Thousand activates "Numeron Chaos Ritual" to treat "Numeron Network", "Number 1: Numeron Gate Ekam", "Number 2: Numeron Gate Dve", "Number 3: Numeron Gate Trini", and "Number 4: Numeron Gate Catvari" from his Graveyard and Banished Zone as Level 12 monsters for an Xyz Summon. He then overlays his five Level 12 monsters in order to Xyz Summon "Chaos Number 1000: Numeronius" (Rank 12/10000/1000, ORU: 5) in Attack Position.
As "Numeronius" was destroyed, Don Thousand activates the second effect of "Chaos imaginary Number: Numeronius Numeronia" from his Extra Deck, Special Summoning the latter monster in Attack Position and attaching "Numeronius" to it as an Overlay Unit (Rank 13/100000/100000, ORU: 1). Don Thousand explains that "Numeronius Numeronia" cannot attack, but the opponents must attack it if able, and if they do not, they will automatically lose during their End Phase.
There's "screw the rules, I have money", and then there's "riding a nuclear bomb into the rules giving them both middile fingers and sticking your tongue out".
These cards read like something The Abridged Series would write as a joke.
Reminds me of Dartz, and his Seal of Orichalcos bullshit.
I personally liked Zexal, aside from the powerful abilities the Numbers use like Number 16: Shock Master, also I never really got far enough to see Don Thousand
....
I feel like Monsters that not only 1 shot you, but oneshot you multiple times over are the very definition of pointless.
I mean in the actual card game they are MAYBE (and I use that word very generously) not entirely broken, just due to difficulty in getting onto the field, increased lifepoints and other rules that don't get done in the anime to keep the tension high.
But seriously, Number C1000: Numeronius should win almost any game anyway, given its power....the fact if you deal with it it instantly brings Number iC1000: Numeronius Numeronia into play is absolutely fucking insanity.
When someone has SOMEHOW gotten out of your win condition, the game shouldn't go, "Nicely done, that was actually amazing. Pity it just made your situation worse."
I never got into Zexal, the whole thing felt like a very obvious Dragon Ball rip off (Duel Vizors=Scouters, Zexal=Super Sayian), and the Numbers were just yet another colleacthon plot that's getting way overdone in anime.

I've heard the newest series is one of the better ones of the recent trio

I feel the same, and I haven't even watched Dragon Ball.
Like, yeah the Duel Monsters stuff can be cheesy and stupid and lame, but that's Yugioh's thing, what gives it its own identity separate from other shonen shows. If the duels are gonna suck, and/or the writers are gonna ignore the rules and conventions of the game and have duelists do whatever they want, like the above plays do, then why even bother?

I just bought Legacy of the Duelist on Steam and I gotta say, some of these new combos are super busted. xyz-summon Utopia, use that and its materials to xyz-summon Utopia Ray, use Rank Up Magic Barian Force and Utopia Ray plus its materials to xyz-summon Utopia Ray Victory, use Rank Up Magic Numeron Force and Utopia Ray Victory plus its materials to xyz-summon Utopia Beyond. Which can, quote, "If this card is Xyz Summoned: The ATK of all monsters your opponent currently controls become 0. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up Xyz Monster you control and 1 Utopia monster in your Graveyard; banish the first target, and if you do, Special Summon the second target, then gain 1250 LP." The controller now has a 3k beast out with 5 materials to use; on top of that, because Numeron Force was used, every other card that was face-up gets negated permanently, which means if the opponent had a bunch of continuous traps or magic, they've effectively been Ground Collapsed.
Not fun.
By the way:
I've got three words for you: Neo-Spacian Grand Mole
I feel that was the point of Zexal. Saying here is a series that is just for fun, and it isn't like real life. They did cause they were trying to make it for kids, and op villains are for kids. Nowadays would anything like this not be done like this?
Cards now a days are being made like this, like Malefic Territory
GX isb est yugioh IMO
