It was very good... see if it you get the chance. 
I don't want to spoil anything... bbuutt...
Derpy finally speaks again!
Starlight is absent for large portions though (at least she has Trixie)
The songs are pretty cool (see above)
The Crusaders are in it for a bit, but where are the rest of Cheerilee's class?
It ends on the most predictable moral ever (hint: see the name of the show) but it's still very nice.
Overall, a great wait to start the holidays... two months early. Happy Halloween everyone!

Well, They're better off than a lot of us around the Holidays.
What can we do to stop the encroachment of Christmas? I am pissed with how much of that holiday starts earlier and earlier every year. With entire aisles dedicated to it before Halloween it feels insulting. Now we have clearly a holiday special before Halloween. I just wish this had been held off until early December.
When spike pulled out that guitar, I just knew it was gonna be a good song. Spikes voice is just so beautiful, and so was the song. Loved this episode.
For me, the weakest part of the special was the stuff with Flim and Flam, but I still love it.

I enjoyed the show completely! I felt it had a great message and really brought out what Hearths Warming (and by a bit of extension our holiday season) is really supposed to be about.
And it had ponies so that's a plus!
4959269 Yeah, that's something that really gets on my nerves. But if you think that's bad, the Hallmark channel airs Christmas Specials in the middle of Summer.
From a corporate stand point I think the reason for the push for Christmas to be marketed so much is because it's when the retailers make the most money. And they know that with Black Friday and Cyber Monday becoming increasingly overcrowded, they try to bait people into spending sooner to get the must have gifts.

They should at least be facing jail time for their fraudulent university and stealing Twilight's lesson plans.

You also forgot that Marble Pie had her heart broken by Big Mac. In the scene where it shows Big Mac and Sugar Belle nuzzling noses, you can see Marble Pie in the background cringing at the sight.
I must say this was very nicely done 7.5 or even 8/10 for me

Yup, noticed that too, honestly, I hoped that would be one of the subplots of the episode...
4959336 They've gotten less illegal since Season 4. Their Friendship University was above board and used a book that Twilight published for inspiration, and she even said they did a good job teaching students. Their "crime" in that episode was just misleading students on the amount of expenses, and they shut it down because it would no longer be profitable. This time around they're crime was using basic marketing and false beards, I guess? I think they still got to keep those chests of gold we saw halfway through the episode.

If there was any kind of reality here, Flim & Flam would've have been arrested long ago. I guess they'll never change though, or the show would've made steps to try and reform them by now.
