An Unimportant Post that Surely Has No Real Significance at All · 10:41pm Jun 21st, 2018

So, uh ... the usual, I suppose. Nothing big. Just a question. Who wants to be an "as it's written" Alpha Reader for The Dusk Guard Saga: Hunter/Hunted?

I'm not entirely certain what that entails, but if it's just proof-reader sort of thing - I guess I could give it a shot?

I'm generally better at Beta stuff, but then I don't think I've tried Alpha, so I'm willing to give it a shot at least.

Please? : 3

I can throw my hat in, Viking. I’ve done it enough times, and I’ve got some spare time in my schedule. I’m not really the fine tooth comb you want for punctuation fixes, but I can do the coarse-grain sanding. :)

I'd like to join as well. I have a lot of time at the moment.

I could try it.

I've never done any pre-reading type stuff before, but I'm willing to give it a whirl.

Reading through your Indrim book right now, but I'll give a hand if you need it.

If what I did for shadow was useful and you want that again I'm down.

Okay, some of you will be getting invites as PMs in a moment. Some of you will not. This isn't a slight, or me saying I don't require your assistance, but rather how the "as its completed" Alpha Reading goes.

I do two stages of Alpha Reading for my fanfics, because rather than being released as a complete whole, all at once, they're released on a weekly schedule. Which means I have to account for two kinds of readers: Those who read it as it's posted, and those who read it later, when they can blow right through the whole thing.

Hence, the "as it is posted Alpha Readers," who read through and leave their thoughts on things so far at the end of each chapter, and then the "classic" Alpha Readers who can read at their own pace.

Basically, I'm trying to space people out so that I don't end up with a bunch of "posting Alpha Readers" but no other readers.

Reminder (or first time for those that are new): This is Alpha reading. This isn't fixing typos or misspelled words. That's Beta. Alpha reading is structural. "This chapter felt slow because" or "This section here feels out of character ..." Alpha is about broad-scale problems and what's being done well. Usually Alpha readers end a chapter with a comment on their thoughts on it.

Anyway, PMs going out. Watch your inbox, and bookmark the link coming your way.
