As a heads up, I recently re-enabled the passwords system for stories for the current layout. If you want people to see your story before it's been published (like EqD pre-readers) you'll need to fill in the "view password" field and tell the people who want to see it that password.
This makes a lot of sense. I spent a long time trying to figure that password thing out before I found out it was disabled. So how does it work? You send a link and it asks for the password? Or will password protected stories be visable on the author's page?
Time to try thing!
...Hrm. I finally know what that does now. Thanks, knighty!

When you give someone the link it'll ask them for the password then they can view it
Before Paleo Prints made http://fimfiction.net/story/2432/9 public, he gave me the link http://fimfiction.net/chapter/25880 to pre-read.
Can that still be done, or is the hassle of a password now mandatory for pre-reading?
Wait, so if anyone wants to read my story, they now need a password?
That's dumb. You're dumb.
yays , now i can get some editing help for my less than fantastic English.Ten years out of high school, never being good at writing to begin with and a decade worth of internet does take its toll :p.
ps:any takers on helping me with grammar/editing for my first story now that the password systems back up?
So THAT'S how you do prereading. Good to know.
