A curious question and a poll! · 5:20pm Apr 19th, 2018

Alright, I'm curious, do you guys think I need to venture out beyond my usual genres? I do like my romance after all, mostly because I'm sadly single. *sad face* but I do have a few stories without it. A Derpy Princess, and Magic and Games. I also have a few that don't have anything to do with romance but it's certainly something I enjoy writing, now typically I like to think "outside" the box but I was thinking of doing a romance with one of the mane six pairings. I have one idea in mind, but I want you guys to vote, which pairing would you like to see me write?

RariTwi
TwiDash
PieLight
TwiJack
TwiShy
RariDash
RariJack
RariShy
RariPie
FlutterDash
FlutterPie
FlutterRarity
so on and so forth.

I think you get the point, if I haven't typed a particular pairing you want to see written, just voice that couple in the comments.
Spike is not included in this voting, I have something planned for him in the future. :).

Anything with Fluttershy is adorable.

FlutterDash, obliviously. There is nothing more adorable than those two.

How about you rate the ships from easiest to hard and choose it depending on how difficult it would be. From Flutterdash (the easiest) to Appleshy (the most difficult) Basically, it's super easy to ship polar opposites, medium to ship similar, and hard to ship those who have a bad rep with each other in general

At least, that's what I think about it:twilightsheepish:

Well, to me none of them are that hard precisely. I just have my own opinions on each ship. Though I do technically have an AppleShy ongoing in "You drive me batty." AppleShy isn't that popular, but I don't consider it that hard to write. AJ and Flutters are good friends.

TwiDash. Oh, RariPie, cool. I'd like that. And if it could be a not 'M' story, that would be great

StarlightPie---I have noticed Pinkie is way too comfortable just walking into Starlight's room whenever she wants to do so l, but no pony else's. Why is that? Like, she comes in there while Starlight is sleeping and Starlight doesn't question it.

TwiDash, RariDash, or maybe Strixie (Starlight x Trixie)

I'm all for RariShy, but I believe you should write a shipping fic with Marble Pie and Fluttershy:scootangel:! I don't think I can think of a ship anymore adorable than that:heart:!

It's not just about writing it, it's about convincing the reader that it's possible. We could easily see how FlutterDash or Pinkie Twi or Rarijack could happen because they're very easy to make friends from a story's perspective, but people have a hard time being convinced that Appleshy, or Diamond Tiara with anyone really because of their negative relationships. There's also the fact when ponies have no or little polar opposite traits, the conflict can easily go stale or unnatural. The opposite may be true, if the similarities aren't strong enough to bridge the gap, their cooperation may seem forced than natural. This is why Appleshy is the most difficult, they very easy to pin each other in an almost toxic way, almost nowhere in the show did they ever get along often because of how they look at the same thing so drastically different because of their lifestyle is ironically both similar and different at the same time.

Polar opposite are compatible because they are carefree about each other's experience and let them do their thing, these opposites however are very opinionated on very similar subjects and would have extreme difficulty coping with how the other deals with each other.

For example, Fluttershy and Applejack constantly deal with these issues: Animals, Family, Friends, and work. Let's compare

Fluttershy: Treats animals like any other pony, is a recluse with ties with a family, very introverted and agreeable, flexible schedule but heavily centered around the animals.

Applejack: Treat animals like any we treat animals, slaves (with a few exceptions), heavily family oriented with a group lifestyle, very extraverted and disagreeable, and has a very rigid schedule heavily centered around the family and farm.

Now let's compare to Rainbow Dash: Could go either way with animal, recluded but living with ties with family, very extraverted, and likes a loose lifestyle, and has some responsities but with lots of free times.

This is getting complicated to explain, but basically, Fluttershy can go well with Rainbow Dash, Applejack can go well with Rainbow Dash, Rainbow Dash can go with anypony, but Fluttershy can't go well with Applejack.

I'll go straight to the point, there's a reason why Rainbow dash and Pinkie Pie is compatible with pretty much everyone, they're carefree of all worries and would base their relationships solely on how they feel towards other's personality. Fluttershy and Applejack have a few very specific thing that they base their own lives on which they feel strongly about, and these views are contrasted by their other differences even more. To be exact how Applejack and Fluttershy view their Animals and lifestyle. If Applejack see animals as having free will, then she sees that she's been a slaver her whole life, and if Fluttershy sees Animals as just animals, she'll have to give up her sensitivity and morality for the animals. With all the other differences stack upon those views, it would be one heck of a job trying to convince the reader that they would accept the other's way of living, if anything, these ponies would see each other's as a threat to the entire way of life, whether this threat would be realistic or not doesn't matter. These ponies are can't possibly understand each other's values or point of view, they be like Radicals vs Reactionaries, Protestants to Catholics, Water to Oil.

How about a FlutterScratch (Fluttershy x Vinyl Scratch) fic?
