Good news / Bad news · 2:41am Jun 30th, 2017
Well folks, it's been a heck of a June. Or as we're calling it around Coffee Central, month-where-Ireland-happened-then-suddenly-over. Like seriously, I keep thinking it's the 15th or something... but no, month's basically over. It took us 2+ weeks to get back into the swing of things. I'm running late on everything.
Which brings us to some good news and some bad news.
It's not that bad...
The Good News!
- The one and only Pascoite has joined as a third prereader on To Serve In Hell! He previously guest-edited chapter 11 and kinda ghost-edited chapters 1-4, but now he's officially part of the team. Every prereader has their strengths, and one of Pascoite's is a keen eye for grammar and sentence structure, which should help each future chapter look its best. He's even been kind enough to go back over the whole story thus far and pick at things that could use cleaning-up. Expect to see tweaks and improvements get posted at some point in the near-ish future.
- You are absolutely getting a chapter's worth of dark AU mystery on 7/1... though there's a catch...
The Bad News!
- The "chapter's worth of dark AU mystery on 7/1" that I mentioned isn't for To Serve In Hell.
- Just to be more explicit: June morphed into an unplanned break month.
"I don't have to listen to these wild allegations!"
In my last post I mentioned wanting to participate in the then-current Writeoff, and despite being brain-dead and jet-lagged I managed to get something in. It didn't make the cut for finals, but it got some good feedback and it hasn't been hard to clean up. It's a fun little mystery starring EqG Troubleshoes that Xepher dubbed a "Postapocalyptic Cowboy Noir." It's also got some elements of cracky romance, as it ships him with EqG Derpy. Any resemblance to fodder for Jake The Army Guy's contest is... well, semi-kinda-intentional. More like, for anyone who remembers this post from waaaaay back in the day, I finally wrote it. Only took me 2 years...
No, conditions should be much more favorable for making progress this next month. Fewer big distractions and disruptions... or at least fewer planned ones.
June was a crazy month this year.
A lot has happened

It was a crazy month indeed. My wife and I are deep in the midst of planning the second half of the year, and I think it's going to be more low-key for the most part.

Consequently, I was trying to acquire a copy of Tails of Equestria and run a game of that. It'll eat more of the time I don't have, but pony RPG calls to my soul.

Man I would love to play a real game of that. I have it and it looks really well done but it's been tough talking Oldest into goofing around with it. Pony wanes among Oldest's interests of late, despite efforts to keep the fires burning.

Is that good or bad?

I think it'll be good. We crammed a lot of stuff into the first half of the year, and I actually went through a pretty major job change, not all of which I've blogged about. It's been good for the most part but there were just a lot of things popping up and throwing me off my game. Time to kinda settle down a bit and start making the new normal better.

Sounds good

I'm hoping my local gaming shop gets it in, I put it on order but their supplier was out.
I just want to take it for a test run. Trouble would be making an adventure that's themed correctly and not just a game of DnD with everyone wearing pony ears.

Hmm. There is a sample adventure in the core book itself, and there's also a Cursed Statuettes add-on or some such.
I suppose a Skype session could be possible... maybe... hypothetically...

Well, that's two prospective players.
