I’ve been looking over my stories for a while, and I had a thought.
A lot of my readers for my PWNY stories have trouble finding my Pinkie story, “You Can’t Spell Slaughter Without Laughter”, because it’s rated Mature and they have ‘View Mature’ turned off.
Now, I rated the story Mature due to source material...but I can’t help but wonder if it actually qualifies as Mature.
So for those of you who have read it...what do you think?
Edit: Due to an overwhelming response, I’m going to change the story’s rating to Teen. If I get called on it by the mods, I’ll change it back.
Difficult to say, I think it’s right on the border if you ask me.
I think it’s more along the lines of a Teen rating rather than a Mature since the violence isn’t that gory and the sex was lacking.
Won’t the mods contact you if you have a Teen story thats should be Mature? You might as well try setting it to Teen.
I'd confer with a moderator first, and I would err on the Mature side, but if they give you the go-ahead, great!

Personally, I would say it’s on the border of Teen and Mature, so I really don’t know where to put it.
I feel the criteria for Mature are a little iffy. I've read some kids stories like Percy Jackson, or a better example, Gregor the Overlander that have a plethora of blood and violence in them, and they're still considered only teen books at worst. Blood and gore aren't quite as bad when you're only reading about it. In video games, art, or comics, yeah it makes sense to make something mature that contains gore. But for prose? Doesn't quite cut it if it's written in a way that doesn't emphasize the full impact of blood and gore.

I think teen is enough. Not exactly up there to be considered actually as "mature" like the source material
I mean, realistically, this is on the borderline OF teen and mature, but I'd have to say that because of a lot of other stories being teen and seeing what they have, I'd say CSSWL would fall nicely into the teen category.

You didn’t include any actual clop, and the violence wasn’t a gore fest. Sure, anyone who played any of the God of War games should be imagining the fights as a gore fest, but the descriptions didn’t actually reach that level. Teen is possible, though you can always post it elsewhere with a link to it.
It had some sexual themes but not mature. There was no clop, no outright sexual content even if it was one of your more risque stories. I would say in terms of your other stories it was a lot more mature, but for a mature story on Fimfiction, there was no sex. It is actually oodles more T than the actual game series. Even what violence and sex in the story, it is T compared to the game.
I don’t like it as much as your others. One could argue that it’s because I don’t like Pinkie, but not true. I just found the conflict on the game crossover side resolved way too easily. Everything else goes through all or most of the games, and here it’s resolved a little past the first game and barely at that. I don’t have any experience playing that games, but I watched my friend play enough of it to get a basic idea of what happens (not enough as I only watched to a point)
But no, this isn’t mature. If it was a game, it would be rated a hard T at best!
Other than a thirsty filly and teenage girl (... *shivers*), I’d say it’s an easy T. I mean, you didn’t take the time to actually write out Pinkie finally getting her libido settled, or... whatever Calliope decided to do after becoming a responsible adult capable of making her own decisions. And considering Heart of the Dragon General also had a lot of death and some impromptu offscreen sex while still maintaining a T rating, I don’t see any real reason YCSSWL *has* to be rated M... other than the acronym looking like “yuck-swill” now that I think about it, but even then, it’s still a T at most.

At least the acronym wasn't KARF...kinda wish someone would do a Displaced story for Abridged characters one day.

I'd contact a mod to make certain but Laughter is T with a rather heavy leaning towards M but not quite M
Is it graphic? Yes, but so was my description of one of my characters bifurcating another character.
Is it gory? Not any more than what Dante's Little Apple is. The rating on that one escapes me atm.
Is there any sex in it? Only alluded to, quite unlike the source I would say.
Do I think you should change the rating? I think you should field that question with a mod. Barring that, better to err on the side of caution.
Sucks for those that can't see it because of the filter, but if they're old enough, they can switch that off anyway.
