    The zines are for sale.

I'll just bump you folks over to twitter for details, but the short version is they're $5 each, $2 USA shipping, $4 international, and I have two pony ones, A Twilight Trio (Unhorsed, Apex, Dreaming of Dragons) and Tender is the Night.

    It exists. :3

That, my friends, is a zine, or a tiny, handmade book, containing three of my recent stories. Right now I'm working on getting them out to the Patrons, and after that I will be selling them in some way or another.

    Zines! AKA tiny books!

I never managed to get on the pony book bandwagon. I just... self publishing is hard, okay? :P But zines are at least marginally less hard, I only have to wrestle with Libre Office, not with some printer's completely unfamiliar absolutely everything.

    Any Hades fans out there?

I do actually have a pony story coming up! (On Patreon on Monday, here on Fimfic on Wednesday! Just a cute little erotica short, but it's one I particularly liked!)

But I'm also currently in the middle of writing Hades story number four in just the last week, so, uh... On a bit of a roll there!

Because Ember is best Consort Queen~

I watched because I'm writing my first clop.

4489460 Writing clop is way too much fun sometimes. :trollestia:

Gratz, man!

I feel like anyone who decides to make a video like this just doesn't care about their reputation on the internet.

4489469 If you feel that way about people who review clop, I'm curious about your apparent approval of people who write the stuff.

4489471 Oh I have no problems when it's on a semi obscure site like this that's mostly out of the public eye, but posting a video about clopfics you've read and thoroughly enjoy on YOUTUBE of all places is the point where I get worried.

4489478 Heh. I'm afraid I just don't get that attitude. The only reason I'm okay is that nobody knows I'm doing what I'm doing, and I should be ashamed if anybody finds out? That doesn't seem terribly healthy to me. If what somebody is doing is so shameful that it's only okay when it's secret, then it's not okay, secret or not. But if it's okay, why should anybody be ashamed of it, public or not?

4489460 yolo? :unsuresweetie:

4489478 Clearly the person who shared the video don't share such reservations, so there really isn't much of a problem. There's plenty of folks who have done clop readings in this fandom, this person doing a top ten list is hardly out of the ordinary.

4489480 I would presume because of a bit of shame at enjoying the idea of cartoon horses having graphic sex and worry about possible employers or hackers discovering the videos. /shrug

4489486 Given the size of that particular channel, I wouldn't be surprised to find that it's somebody's main source of income, so employers may not really come into it.

4489492 I don't know enough about the income for folks with big channels on YouTube, so I can't really comment. Although, I suppose it also depends on how long such things are in demand. I can barely figure out if it'd be a good idea to Patreon myself and what I'd even offer as incentive to Patrons, let alone figure out YT income! XD

4489484 Eh, just trying to grow as a writer. Always a first time.:trollestia:

What? Are you surprised?
Search tags "Mature" & "Sex" order by rating.
Guess what's on top?

#16 · Apr 9th, 2017 · · ·

4489498 Just know that the clop audience and the teen audience don't have much overlap.

Not surprised, it is a great story

*Inserts blatant request for when next chapter will be available*

4489535 The site does some REALLY weird things with its ratings sometimes. There are a lot of clopfics with a much larger following/many more upvotes than Ember's. I mean, Field Notes on Alicorn Reproductive Behavior has nearly three times as many upvotes, just to give one example.

4489554 I think most of the clop audience comprises of teens.

4489554 4489786 Hee. I don't think the point is about age, it's about the fact that a lot of people who enjoy E and T rated stories don't enjoy M rated stories. I got a couple of people actually mad at me when I first started writing clop! Which is sort of silly, if they have Mature turned off on the site they'd never even see the story go up. But on the other hoof, most people didn't mind, and some were really delighted by it. I know a lot of people seem to think you need to make a new account if you start posting mature stories, but I don't really feel that's the case.

4489799 Eh, it's not like I'm going to start writing for Hustler. I don't mind if people get upset because I decided to try something new. You can't keep everyone happy. That's a fact of life. Still, I think it would be fun and any writer should be writing for themselves, with their audience in mind. Every time you do something new, you are targeting new people, even if you're not aware of it.

I won't be doing a ton of them. Just this one to see where it goes. I've got plenty of less provocative stories to work on. A couple are almost done (I keep telling myself).

Anyhoo, I'll just do my best. It's all I can really do.

you know
you found this quite late

funny, because it was this video that brought me to Ember's and later on to your work in general :duck:

about writing clop
I was furry for years so believe me that I'm completely fine with much worse than this
Also there is BIG and I mean BIG difference between porn and erotica

eveybody can write porn, but to write good erotica, you need to know things, have experience, need empathy and you need to make people feel like they are part of the story, not just observer like in Third Person Shooter

4489909 Well, I don't watch this sort of thing on Youtube, I only found it at all because somebody posted it as a comment on Ember's yesterday.

4489934
make sense I guess
I'm not actually sure how I got this channel in watch - probably trough EqD or something

maybe I should backtrace my progress trough brony from now to the very beginning. I'm sure it would surprise even me

Is it a coincidence that the most popular and well-known clopfics were published between 2012 and 2014? Would Xenophilia have garnered the absolutely monstrous number of upvotes and views that it did if it were published today? And the same could be said of Ember's, really, tho at least in your case it's still going. Good job on continuing it, by the way. :pinkiehappy:

4489799 Some of them don't want that type of literature associated with their brand name. It's more a judgement call than anything else, tbh.

Congrats. You completely deserve your spot in the top 10 with the amount of effort and detail you put into your writing. Just hope to see Discord visit Ember one day. There is so much you could do with him, ether go the emotional route or maybe he just pushes the boundaries of how weird Ember will get. :rainbowwild:

4490110 You know, I really have no idea how I'd write a Discord sex scene. He's too comedic to write it seriously, but trying to write sex as a comedy is really difficult to do.

4490122 That's the nice thing about fan fiction, hes your Discord, write him how you like. The best Discord stories, IMO, are ones that walk the line between the Discord we know and adding your own flair into character. Who's to say hes a comedian in the bedroom? Maybe that's where his domineering dark side comes out or maybe it's the one place he drops the facade and shows how lonely he really is.

I'm not trying to convince you here. If you don't want to write Discord then by all means it's your story and I know that what ever you post will be both sexy and/or entertaining. Just saying the characters we love don't have to be the exact characters we know.

4490304 Yeah, Discord pretty much falls into the category where the only way I'm writing a story where he has a major role is if I get commissioned to.

One day I will get on this list!!!

4489770
Your math is wrong ;)
You cannot judge a story by a sheer amount of upvotes. It's only matter of time and promotion.
And although I actually don't know about rating calculation on here fimfiction, let me tell about my method.
I simply check upvotes/total views ratio.
And by that, "Field notes" have only 0.05 index, against yours 0.11.
And in general, I consider stories with index 0.1 and higher are worth reading. It's the same on Youtube.

4490122

You know, I hear that fairly often, people talking about how difficult it is to write comedy. I wonder if it's a personality thing, or if it's that people define the word "comedy" too narrowly? I nearly tagged my first clopfic Alicorn Milk a comedy because of all the character/situational/POV humor, and I found that to be a lot of fun to write. But I guess if you define "comedy" as slapstick/absurdist or only a story where the plotline itself is silly, then maybe it's more difficult.

Anyway, congrats on the top ten thing. It doesn't surprise me; while an individual's top ten might focus on their particular fetishes, a semi-serious reviewer is likely to look at clopfics that appeal to a more general audience, meaning that it has good writing and storytelling, more "wholesome" themes than you would generally find in a clopfic, and isn't too extreme. By that metric plus popularity, I can see Ember's placing very highly indeed. Good job and well-earned.

4490441 Interesting. I suspect the ratio in question is as much a factor of the changing site culture as it is any difference in quality between the two stories (Field Notes is very good)

4490446 I'm not sure that comedy is inherently more difficult, but it is a very different skill set from telling serious stories. I'm a little too much of a straight man to do really great comedy writing. I have the occasional moment, but it's really not my forte.

4490021 I'll admit that era does seem to have been Fimfiction's peak, as far as activity/readership on the site goes. But Ember's didn't really take off right away back then. It didn't hit the feature box when first published, and it took quite a long time before it built enough momentum to hit the lower featured slots that are reserved for older stories updating. It's never had any massive leaps in upvotes/favorites, it's always just gotten a steady trickle of new people finding it that speeds slightly whenever I update it.

Not sure why, but I was disappointed to not see Equestria Trainers Society on the list. (Perhaps it just crosses more than a few too many lines) Congrats though, Embers deserves it's place in it.

4490441 4490473
There's actually a specific equation that calculates Rating from upvotes and downvotes. It's not raw number of upvotes that matters. It would be closer to correct to say that it's the upvote/downvote ratio, but, well, read the post.

Also, congratulations! It's a deserving story.

Thanks for the info! It was bugging me the whole time.
Although, when I looked at the formula, my first thought was "Isn't it an April joke?" :rainbowlaugh:

4492658 That's more math than I have the brain power for right now. But I get the general idea.
