Movie Trivia!
-This isn't the first time Mothra was pitched to have her own series in the 1990s. In 1990 there was a pitch for Mothra to star in the film "Mothra vs. Bagan". Given "Godzilla vs. Biollante" having a weak box office however, Toho decided to play it safer and instead of pitching a whole new monster for Mothra to fight, that they instead roll her into the Godzilla series. Half of Mothra vs. Bagan's script was revived and reworked into "Godzilla vs. Gigamoth", which would have seen a three-way conflict between Godzilla, Mothra, and Mothra's mutated twin, the titular Gigamoth. That script was simplified and elements changed (such as Gigamoth becoming Battra with little design change, hence why Battra looks mutated) to make "Godzilla and Mothra: Battle for Earth". The remaining half of the original "Mothra vs. Bagan" script was reworked into "Rebirth of Mothra".
-Franchise creator, "Grandpa Tanaka" is to thank for this movie being a thing. While Godzilla as a series was laid to rest a year earlier, Tanaka fought to get this movie rolling after being aware of the old Mothra vs. Bagan script in the Toho vault. He even took part in the writing process along with his usual role as overseer and producer like he had been in all of Toho's kaiju films. This was the last kaiju film he lived to see release, dying at age 87 during the production of the sequel. Another reason this film was made was to compete with the new Heisei Gamera series, as the first film in that trilogy came out a year prior. Gamera's success is likely what prompted Toho to let Tanaka loose Mothra.
-Supposedly the Rebirth of Mothra movies were intended to continue the Heisei Godzilla story when in pre-production, but this was scrapped. Presumably this means the mother Mothra in the film was supposed to be the same one that fought Godzilla Senior, which makes sense given it's the same prop. Why the plans were scrapped is unknown, though presumably it was to not undercut the "finale" of the Godzilla franchise a year prior. If the grown up Godzilla Junior was planned to appear in this film or a sequel is unknown.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, I don't get home until 6PM Pacific Time. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I don't get home until 3PM Pacific Time. And I get homework every day that gets turned in online. That's why I said in that earlier poll that I prefer these things on weekends.
PS: It's okay if you don't adjust the schedule. I'm just one guy and it's just a movie after all.

I thought it was a little odd you'd ask me who I was rooting for in something that's a foreknown outcome, so I figured I's ask.
Me and Megalon are working on a collab album. He's more adult contemporary, I'm more country/folk.

I thought it would have been interesting to have a villain defeat Mothra, as a means to legitimize the threat he poses. Then of course, Mothra would have a rematch where she goes over.
4420898 well DesGhidorah technically defeated Old Mothra but then again that Mothra WAS old and weakened from birth.
And DG easily got his ass handed to him by Lea(wished he would've put up a better fight) in the first round when she turned adult.
Though it does go to show Lea's impressive power, able to defeat an opponent who i estimated was on the same level as regular Senior.
