081 Celebration: 500 Followers!

I'm looking at the last celebratory blog post - it was February 2014, so ages ago. It was a cold and unforgiving East European winter, I was still at the university, studying psychology and not making the most of my free time, unfortunately. In writing, I was doing my best to come up with an exciting enough finale for Of Lilies and Chestnuts, if I remember correctly. Good times!

I took up writing in February 2012, so in but two years' time I somehow convinced a hundred of you to join the ride. Theoretically, after another two and a half years from the aforementioned post - which would be about now - I should be proud to address another hundred-something of you. But yet the counter has recently passed a nice, round 500. Five hundred! It wouldn't happen to be your way of saying, perchance, that I am doing something right, would it?

It is time to celebrate, then, and in only proper way around here - with poni-provided .jpg cakes and .gif cheer - right below the break!

(I'm hoping to get a "Heh, that guy." out of you - or a Sunset Shimmer pic if you're in a mood for gift giving ;) )

To be perfectly honest, I was going to start with a "party hard" picture, but all of them had those rapidly changing letters that were really nauseating to look at. Soft Rarity it is! So, first of all, it feels only proper to mention the person who changed that 499 into 500, right? Then thank you both Wing and sixkiller5! Why two people? Because I haven't actually witnessed the 500 mark. I knew it was 499, I went back after some time and saw 501, but the curious thing is that I only got the notification about the latter of the two. Glitchy FiMFiction strikes again, I guess.

Of course I am equally grateful to those who made the 499 possible in the first place. Whether you were the first, fiftieth, or three hundred eighty-fifth, thank you for considering me worthy of your attention. The realization that there are people out there, across the globe, in various parts of the world and originating from differing cultures, to whom I can reach out with my stories is pretty amazing. I mean, wow - it's good to be a fledgling writer in this day and age.

And now for more sappy words. It pleases me to see that the community is still as generous and kind as back in the day, with its time and willingness to give feedback alike. It really helps, you know, every little comment (especially those straight quoting a passage from a chapter and then assuming a complimentary/critical attitude towards it - I adore people who do that!). I think I'm doing well with addressing your opinions or questions you may have under the stories, but if I missed any of you I sincerely apologize! I also apologize if I wasn't able to deliver what caught your interest in the first place.

So what I will be delivering in the nearest future? The next chapter of Arcane Realms will be delivered still this year as I'm past the rough draft stage now. Some time ago I've been watching random YT videos about Star Wars stuff and damn, I'm wanting to write a Jedi Sunset Shimmer again. I despise crossovers in general, but I do love Star Wars and Sunset. The art surprise from yesterday also brought back memories of Chestnut. Perhaps it would be nice to visit 88 Rimway Avenue once more. Actually, one day I would like to create a map of Canterlot.

Sigh. There's always more to do, but so little time. Sugar break!

And the cake is gone. I hope you managed to get a slice beforehand!

Last time, my closing statement was about anticipating the 200 Followers milestone. Somehow, it came and went away without a mention, then the three and four hundred did as well. Now we're at 500 (I hope no one left while I've been writing this, because that would make me look silly), so the next logical count would be twice that many. Luckily for us all, I do not plan to live long enough for that to happen! Then again, I had been wrong before.

tl;dr - you're all the best, thank you for your support, enjoy my stories!

I had this weird vibe off the beginning of the blog post. It sounded like:

It was a cold writing winter in Prague, so cold that the corpses of poets littered the doorways, and we were forced to boil our typewriter to make soup. Even the newspaper columnists, normally sleek and glossy from their endless meals with politicians, stalked through the snow-packed streets in baggy clothes tied together with string to hold them up....

I hope your muse keeps inspiring, and giving to more words.

I'm a little more northish-eastish from Prague. Lovely city, though, should visit again. And the vibe of coldness you got may have something to do with the fact that I'm currently battling a cold of my own. *coughs furiously*

4218780 Heh. You have to remember, I'm an American, and as such, I have the same vague understanding of European city locations as most Europeans have of places like Dodge City and Grand Forks. (Peeks at Google Maps) Oh, you're in the Kansas of Europe. Welcome fellow thalassophobe. (I'm from Kansas, which is about as far from sea water as Prague)

Congrats on reaching 500 followers! :pinkiehappy:

It's still doing a decent job inspiring, luckily - most of the time lately it's inspiring to go beyond the pony setting. But, all in due time, I guess.

Well, it's only fair to admit that my knowledge of the administrative division of the USA is similarly limited, so I have no idea if I should treat getting called "the Kansas of Europe" offensive or not (because, you know, of some rivalry between the states or stereotypes or whatnot). But if the people from Kansas are the fine gentlemen of your sort, then I will proudly take that approximation. Go Kansas!

And thank you for all the bookshelves adds and being an awesome reader!

The 499 grated my soul, and your library of work is pretty damn impressive. :3 You definitely deserved that mark.
