Gonna be doing lots of editing o:
So, we're about at the halfway point of Part 1. This month has been a bit difficult in terms of writing, so while I'm taking a small break from writing EL, I'm not taking a break from the fic itself. Essentially, these next few arcs will be leading up to the grand finale of Part 1, so I felt this was the perfect time to go back and re-edit EL.
And, in order to do so, I printed it out at my local stationery store.

It never really sunk in how much I've written for this AU until the lady handed me this, and it was like holding my firstborn in my arms, my friend patting me on the back as she said, "so this means it's finished, right?" and a single lone tear rolled down my cheeks because lmao
finished, she said.
Ignorance truly is bliss.
Anyway.
This huge editing I'm gonna do is partly so that I can make notes and refresh myself on details, as well as doing general cleanup work. I don't think there will be any changes except for grammatical or structure ones, but as always, I strive for transparency, so if there's any type of big change, I'll be sure to let you guys know.
I'm hoping to do this over the course of the following week, as well as answering comments on previous blogs. Once that's done, I can quickly make all the edits and then focus on chapter 17 and hopefully have that out relatively soon. After that's done, I'm gonna have to figure out what to do with the 'book', or give it away, or keep it hidden or IDK.
So yeah, just wanted to let you guys know that if you see certain editing changes, do not be alarmed.

Very cool :0 I've never thought of printing things out for editing, but that might be a good idea to try.
This is the one of your fics I've held back on reading, first 'cause I was unsure of its future ('cause I thought it was going to be cancelled!) and then just 'cause it's longer. But it's cool to see that you'll be editing it and I'm excited to read it after you do so! (Also, I just recently read the one-shot you based it on and that was quite intriguing, and also RariTwi is great, so suffice to say it's something I've been looking forward to diving into.)

It always amazes me how big some stories get that are written only in electronic mediums. You never really understand the magnitude of them until you do something like this, and make it tangible. You should be proud of what you've accomplished, because the world you've built with EL is a really fascinating one, with lots of minor details and background information that really lets the whole thing breathe.
Stories (and video games, admittedly) that focus a lot on world-building and lore are some of the ones I find the most intriguing to experience, and EL has the distinction of being among them. I really hope you enjoy reflecting on what's been written so far, so that we can enjoy the rest of this magnificent Mathematics textbook.

It actually helps me a lot because it's much easier to focus, this way! I can sit down with my tea, a pencil and just scratch out stuff, make notes, etc etc. Personally, too, it makes me feel like it's not something I wrote, so I don't have to deal with my silly brain activating the "INTENSE SELF-CRITICISM" mode, so this is a much healthier solution. I can still be critical, but without going to extremes.
And yes, Enchanted Library is still going on. All things said and done, I love this fic and cancelling it would be a terrible personal defeat, so rather than do that, I'm trying to develop healthier writing habits that will hopefully prevent me from descending into another burn-out crisis.

and yes! It was honestly really shocking? It's easy for me to brush off everything I've done because I can't really 'see' how much I've done, but it's a bit staggering and encouraging to see this. Of course, I'm still growing and learning and I'm far from being a perfect writer, but at least now my insecurities kinda went like "okay, well, wow, dude, we're not so bad...".
And thank you! It means a lot that you like the world-building, and hopefully this editing will make it better :3

i kid, i kid o: that is a very cute picture waaaaaahOh my, this fic is going to end up being 600k words at this rate, and when a normal young adult book is only about 120k, that's frickin' humongous.
So much sweet, sweet RariTwi. I'm not complaining, but wow.
Anyways, good luck on editing! Heaven knows I spend way too much time editing my own stuff, and I still take it really personally when I nail the inevitable downvote and think I could have done something better to prevent it.
First off I am both happy this is inky Part 1 because that means there is a lot more to cone.
I am also shocked that this is only Part 1as it means there is A LOT more to come in this crazy adventure you are dragging us all in.
You seem to have crested a story THST is going to cross over into the status of an Epic if what you say is true and I look forward to every single word of it and will be there to read it all if I can be as I want to see how it all turns out as well as explore more of this universe you have created.

All in all, EL is divided into Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 is actually much bigger than 2, so I'm estimating part 1 to be approximately 300k while Part 2 should be around 200k.

I think I would have broken down laughing my head off if a friend looked at me and said "So, it's done, right?" when printing out one of my stories...
And everyone would look at me like i was crazy, and I'd likely have to explain I am crazy or something..
Anyway, awesome to hear you're going back to edit and refresh your memory of the story ;3 also really cool to see you printed it out, there's just something about holding a physical copy of something you've put so much effort into that just makes it all worth it.
Anyway, look forward to seeing the next update when it comes ;3 in the meantime I might just go back and re-read the story again and totally not procrastinate on my own monster of a story....

I almost lost it and threw my head back to cackle like a maniac before I regained composure. We haven't even gotten to that part yet!
Take it slow and remember the instant you start feeling tired or unable to focus just take a breather and come back to it when good and ready, don't rush yourself! Take it easy, nice long and slow. Have a good week!
If you ever print out a copy of any finished book make sure I'm at least one of the first few to get a signed copy! XD I'd totally support you in a printed copy whenever you do finish the this massive LotR romance.
