Today's Not Been One of My Better Days · 9:04pm Feb 20th, 2016
I guess I don't have a whole lot of reasons, but I'm not too happy.
I woke up this morning at three in the morning to the sound of screaming and murder because one of my roommates was watching Investigation Discovery at full blast but didn't bother to turn off the television as he fell asleep because of his drunkenness. I turned that off and found the door to our room unlocked, so I locked it. I woke up to hear my other roommate pounding at that door a few minutes later, so I unlocked it and let him in. Okay. Not too bad. I don't have much homework for this weekend; I'll survive.
I found this morning that my binder has gone missing. I wasn't sure if I had misplaced it or had it taken. I wasn't very mobile yesterday, but I assumed that I misplaced it sometime either yesterday or the day before because I didn't remember if I had brought my binder to class yesterday because there was only one class I had yesterday and I didn't need it. After scouring much of the campus, talking to various faculty, and making a few phone calls, I have most people who might be able to find it for me on the lookout for it. However, I realized that I had my binder with me until at least around noon of yesterday when I got chocolate on the binder from something I was eating. That limits the places I could've left it. However, I'm pretty sure I dropped off my binder in my room sometime in the afternoon or in the evening because I had no use for it, for my class was already done, and I didn't have any homework I wanted to work on. I was mostly in two computer labs yesterday sending llama badges on dA because that's what I do to kill time, but I've checked the places I was and have recovered nothing. I'm scared my binder has been stolen or simply hidden somewhere. I have a couple hundred dollars in calculators in there and most of my notes from this school year in there, so basically I have been parted with some of my soul and am feeling pretty despondent about recovering it. I don't remember seeing my binder last night, but I wasn't aware of it being missing, either, so I don't know if it might have been taken at some point while I was not in the room (as my roommates are terrible about locking the door) or if I simply might've left it somewhere else, although I almost never do.
Also, the person I proofread for yesterday is now banned.
At least the weather is unseasonably warm. Everyone keeps telling me the binder will turn up, but I am not so confident. It wasn't like there was gold in there, but it had some rather valuable stuff, both in a monetary sense and in an academic one: my notes are superb. I'm not saying I would take a binder from someone else like me, but I suspect someone might if my roommates aren't just screwing with me.

Well, Hoopsy was apparently not old enough to be using this site. In all due candor, I don't blame the moderators for their establishing that rule and sticking to it. It came as quite an unpleasant surprise to me, regardless.

Apparently so. He told me he believes someone he knew and trusted reported him to the moderators. I don't know who was involved. I guess it's not really my concern, either.

I don't understand why people would even tell each other these things. Granted, I'm 19, well above the age floor, but I just don't understand the urge to confide things that might lead to recourse.
3766862
But that does not explain the urge to confide something that could lead to recourse. There's little benefit to stating something like that, yet the punishment is there and very real. It is not rational; the expected risks do not outweigh the expected benefits. But that's beside the point. What's done is done and is beyond anyone's power to reconcile or undo.

Trust ought to be established before things are confided. It's funny to think about: entrust things to others so that they may trust you. Sounds almost paradoxical to cold people like me.

"Love all; trust few; always paddle your own canoe," if we want to exchange platitudes. It just seems frivolous. You can establish trust without keeping secrets. Nearly never have I played the secrets game, and never have I regretted not playing it.

I've taken up a policy to upvote comments to me that I've actually read regardless of whether I actually approve unless I'm really vexed by something someone says.
Like the karma counters on Reddit? Hehehe. I would, too. FimFiction really ought to make some changes like that. Followers and story-related statistics are really the only readily accessible indicators users have on here regarding the quality of users' output. Granted, this site is mostly geared toward stories, but there's a lot that goes on here besides that.
