    Virus 2020

I do hope everyone is staying safe and sane. This Covid crap has crippled a lot of businesses and many economies will be suffering for a while.
Just keep your head up and don't panic. There is life after this madness.
    Be well.

    What is to come.

Taking into account feedback and my own thoughts on the matter, here is currently my plan moving forward. Subject to change if necessary.
    1) An epilogue chapter will be done to cap the current main story into Book 1. This will not end the main storyline, only to leave a solid stopping point for the next part of the story.

I am not dead yet. Really, I'm feeling better.

If you get the quote, you get a gold star or a cookie or a gold cookie? I dunno, better than coconuts I guess.
So, long story short, life can be a brutal, brutal thing. And while I may not have it nearly as bad as others, it's rough to shoulder things on your own.

    Horse Noises

    *Horse Noises*
    *Horse Gestures*
    *Frustrated Horse Noises*
    *Horse Head Bobbing*
    *Horse Tailflick*
    *Finishing Horse Noises*

And for those of you who do not speak Equestrian, I guess I'll translate.
While the world has not fallen upon my head, spare time has been a bit tougher to come by.

10k words and counting. Split or keep going? · 5:50pm Dec 10th, 2015

So the new chapter is sitting at a self-edited 10k words and there's still quite a bit more to happen. Best guess, 15-16k words total? So pony friends, do you want the whole chapter broken into two so you can just have something to chew on or wait for the full, final product? This is marking the end of a major arc and moving into the next which is the only reason I'm hesitant on just publishing a part of it.
Just curious your thoughts and wanted to update you on the progress. :rainbowkiss:

Hmm... i say make it a big one :D

From a guy whose regular chapter length is anywhere from 8-12k, I'd say split it up a bit. Considering your normal chapters are much shorter, it doesn't fit to have a super-long one unless it's climactic or just that big on plot-advancing events.

To be honest I would prefer many short updates to a few long ones spaced far apart. That being said, only if it doesn't take away from the story. Glad to see things moving on once more. ^^

I wouldn't mind getting part of it, but I think the most important thing is the author's wishes on the matter; it's your work that's being consumed. You say you're hesitant which means I can't really support it.

If you are not comfortable releasing it until it's finished, then so be it. We've been waiting long enough for an update, what's a little more waiting?

i'd say split it up. shorter more frequent updates would be better in your case.

Do whatever you think would be easier for you.

If both options are equally easy, I would vote for one larger chapter.

The tail end of the chapter(s) is pretty climactic. A closure on some major things and shift in character perspectives.
Splitting it would just mean delaying the end of the arc. And I worry that the first half wont be very exciting for you readers compared to consuming the whole thing all at once. But that may just be self-doubt, perhaps you all will really like some of the bits on the first half. That's why I hesitate if should split or keep going.

I vote you keep going.

I say for you come back go all out. keep it as one chapter and go big.

One big one

JBL

Give me a huge chapter because I'm a greedy literary whore.

Huge chapter please

Give us the wall-o-text already. :pinkiecrazy: :scootangel:

You make the chapter however long you feel it needs to be. We'll still be here.

I wouldn't say it has to be split, but given the projected length, my opinion would be to split it. I know that my personal preferences for chapter length don't apply to everyone (5~8k words), but I think most people would agree that over 10~12k is getting kind of long. An occasional 12k is alright, but 15k is a bit much, even with a typical 9~10k word chapter length. That's my opinion.

In terms of when it's released, my preference as to splitting it would be "Whatever the author thinks serves the story best". If you think splitting the chapter would diminish it? I may not be able to get to it as soon (need to block out more time to read it), but 15k words is still plenty readable.

It's not like you're putting an entire 41,000+ word story in one chapter, after all. (Yes, I have seen that. No, it was not here.)

I've seen some 24k+ chapters from other authors and while I appreciate the work, it's hard to find a good stopping point sometimes.
Hmm... perhaps the best thing to do is finish the full thing, and just split for easier reading.

I would think if you do split the chapter with the chapters total length it should be around 7500 -8000 words. Personally i tell athours to not be afraid to write more into a chapter

It's up to you. It's your story. If it all ties together and brings the arc to a close then I say go for the big wall of text. I have no issue with sitting down with a coffee and reading through it all.

contrary to what you might think, i'd prefer one big one too! That way I can sit down nice and cozy and get it all knocked out of the park in one go!

I find your lack of faith disturbing! You do what you do best... but i have to say, the next chapter is long over due!

Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase, give us SOMETHING. I just absolutely NEED this fic to continue. It's my Favorite right after Fallout Equestria (+ Project Horizons)

:pinkiecrazy:I'd say wait but I hope it's soon! :( I'm just going CRAZY waiting!:pinkiecrazy: I just LOVE this story! It's amazing!:heart::heart::heart:

Any chance we can get a status update?

3660867 Holidays and roommate issues kinda threw a big wrench in writing time, but 14k and counting. Gonna keep plugging away at it this week. So, I'm hoping very soon.

3664429 Well, don't rush. Real life always takes priority, eh?
Thanks for the update.

3667174
I thought for sure I was going to get time to write over the holidays. But I could never get the roommates to shut-up long enough to get any real progress done. Plus some surprise family obligations, etc.
I'm close to wrapping it up. Just gotta get one big scene done and the follow-up.

3667327 Well, I look forward to the day the next chapter is done. And next time your room mates are being loud and obnoxious, just make awkward groaning noises when they're trying to sleep. :pinkiehappy:

3667583
Ah see, that doesn't work. I'm usually the one trying to sleep because I have to get up so early. The house I'm in is pretty much shit. Though I've considered buying an Air-horn...

3667793 Mmmmm.... In that case, make your morning routine really loud :P

But seriously though, have you tried just like, telling them you have a headache and to keep it down? Or just asking them to keep it down? Or getting some noise cancelling headset?

3667872
Been trying for months and months to get them to be quiet. I had to threaten to call the cops on one of them cause he kept waking me up at 2am. What should have been a place for me to get a lot of writing done this year has turned into a cluster-fuck of noise and irritation.
As for headset, I've yet to find one I can wear while keeping my glasses on and be comfortable for hours at a time.

3668135 Sennheiser is a really good brand that is apparently incredibly comfortable. I'm near sighted though, so I don't wear glasses when I'm at my computer.
Also, who is the principle money payer? Cause if someone is constantly waking you up to the point where you have threatened calling the cops, that guy should be being kicked out...
