I think I can safely say that I am past the halfway point.
What a crazy thing to say.
A long time ago, when I first started writing this thing, I thought that maybe, just maybe, it would be a million words, or one maybe a million and a half words at most. I honestly didn't know what I was doing. It was one of many mistakes I've made along the way. Now, at two millions words in, the first year is just about wrapped up. The first tumultuous year. Everything has been shaken down, much of it has been turned to dust, and the rebuilding has begun. It's been epic.
As of right now, the Spring Arc is in full swing. I don't know how long it is going to be. It has a few sub-plots. Right now, the story has shifted and we see Sentinel's journey. Bucky is in full transition to become a background character in his own story as he begins to fade from relevance. We begin to see the real heroes of the story emerge. Twilight begins to master the new magical form of harmonics, and begins healing the land, driving the taint from it and purging away the corruption, bringing healing and peace.
The journey to find Sombra's shadow will conclude in time, after that, we will see the resolution of the Crisis Arc, we will see some slaves liberated and Bucky will both have what might be both his most triumphant moment and his lowest point ever, both happening simultaneously. After that, in time, we will see The Hag and witness her downfall with the Hoofington Arc. Dinky and Pina will have their moment in the sun, along with Boadicea the griffoness. Sentinel will have a role to play, albeit a tragic one. Readers who have been paying attention will already know what I am referring to.
After a few more events, the Spring Arc will end, and we will begin a short summer arc. Babs will be going to Canterlot to study astronomy with Princess Luna (as well as get some much needed healing) Larch and Pina will be joining her.
After all of that, we have a five year leap forward. We will see a very different Equestria, one blossoming with new technology, one living in an era of peace unlike any has ever seen, all while preparing for war. At this point, we will see some odd things... like Power Ponies. Sentinel and Ripple have chosen to spend their Knighthoods doing some... peculiar things. (And those things involve wearing costumes that hide their identities while keeping the criminal elements in the bigger cities at bay.) Some things are going to happen. Bad things. The Mirror Travelers will arrive in force and the final conflict will begin. As anybody who has been paying attention to story will know, Bucky cannot defeat the Night Stallion. That does not stop Bucky from trying however, and we will witness Bucky's suicide run first hand (or hoof) as he tries to buy precious time for Twilight Sparkle to be able to do what Twilight needs to do. Celestia will meet her fate... I bet you have questions after reading that!
Eventually, this arc will end.
There will be another five year leap forward. We will see all of Bucky's foals, a full house, and the downright boring place that the world has become. Equestria knows a peace like no other. The entire world is united in peace, and is ruled by one very benevolent ruler that is loved, revered, respected, and praised. There will be a few loose ends tied up...
And then, there will be a funeral. The story will end. Sorry, that's just how it goes. I don't know how much longer it will be, but I can see the finish line from here.
And I want to thank everyone that made getting this far possible... it means a lot. Really, it does. You have no idea how much it means. So, thank you. Thank all of you.

3: Darkest Before the Dawn (or, Oh Feck)
I admit, at first I didn't expect this to be a long story, until we reached The Isles and things went to feck.

Oh, I figured by the end of the War when Bucky dies he'll freeze over Tartaurus and rule from beyond the vale punishing all the naughty ponies he sent there. Thus eliminating all Necromancy at the source and ensuring his offspring life without demons and necromancers ruining for them like they did for him.
