Brief Hiatus + News on Some of My Fics · 6:35pm Jul 19th, 2015
Hello everyone!
I'll get right down to business. I'm heading off to Whereverland for the next week, so it's unlikley I'll be able to write much. I expect to be able to log onto fimfiction, but not much else. This means my next update will probably be awhile away, up to two weeks away. But I promise to get right back on it as soon as I can! In fact, I put up a new story just yesterday!
Speaking of which, I have some news for those of you who've already read it. I originally intended for this to be a multi-chapter fic, but I have since changed my mind and am leaving it as a one-shot. The ending is a bit sudden because of this, but other than that, it stands well on its own. If it does become a chapter fic, it'll be some time down the line. Part of the reason for this comes from what I have to say next.
I have four chapter fics up right now, and I can't say I like it. having multiple fics up like that slows down overall progress and prevents one-shots from going out as often. Plus, it leads to individual chapter fics being updated slowly. Due to all this, I'm considering putting two of them on hiatus, those being the two most recent ones, To The Fair Maiden of Canterlot High and We Call It Erotica. In fact, I'm considering taking them down entirely so that when it's their time to shine, they have a "fresh start." The reason for the other two chapter fics staying up, All These Years (Set in Stone) and Equinophobia: Silvery Lies, is because those two have been up much longer, and I feel as if I've neglected them. The former in particular used to be updated frequently.
Before I do any of this, I'd like to hear what each of you think. Are you okay with this? Or are you tolerant of the chapter fics taking longer to update? Thank in advance for your feedback.
Oh, and one last thing. When I get back to writing, I may write a different chapter fic. Unlike the others, this one will be marathoned to get it out of the way quickly. If I do write it, it'll be my first mature-rated fic. What's it about, you may ask? I'll give you a hint. It's inspired by a certain music album:
That's all. I thank you all for reading and following! I hope you have a good one!
Stay tuned...
Ah yes, having multiple multi chaps simultaneously ongoing is a burden I know all too well myself. Putting a few on hiatus is definitely the best course of action to take, I can say for sure.
I shall be patient and wait for you to get back to work on updating them.
This all sound good, I this it is better to focus on one or two stories at a time, or you risk getting overwhelmed and the stories never progress. Also, it will allow you to focus more deeply on the development of that story. Have a great trip.
Hmm...
Should I start listening to Motley Crue to prepare for it?
Juggling FOUR stories is NOTHING. There are authors such as myself and Justice4243 who juggle a lot more than that. Your readers certainly won't mind if updates to one story are slowed down by progress on another story. Plus, there are advantages to having multiple fics in the works at any given time: you might get stuck on one story, and the only way to get unstuck is to work on something else for a while.
Nothing wrong with that.
But THIS is EXTREMELY ill-advised. As in, the site rules are even engineered to discourage this advised. Under no circumstances should a story be pulled down just because "I won't be working on it for a while". The ONLY justification for taking a story down entirely is "It's never going up again and I'm sorry I ever wrote it in the first place" or "It's absolutely horrible and needs to be completely rewritten". Otherwise, you should simply put the story on hiatus, make a blog post announcing it (which you've done), and let it be.
Anyway, your readers will all still be here when you get back from your whereverness, so don't worry about it.
Your fans (myself included) have no right to complain. We write all this stuff for free, after all.
3252345 I agree with everything you've said. This is exactly what the hiatus setting is for.

3253400 That's true, but I don't think it's my style to bounce from fic to fic. I've always preferred being able to have a few things to put my focus on. Thanks for replying!
3251981 It's certainly not necessary too read the story, but I'd recommend them. The glam metal genre is a lot different from power metal, but I think you may like some of their songs.
Get back to everything when you can. I would love to see an "It's Just Anatomy!" sequel again.
