We all have our opinions about Other M, especially the voice acting. Let's put those aside for the moment and pretend Other M never existed for this question.
What does Samus' voice sound like to you? If you have something in your mind when you read Samus' dialogue from the Series (when she has some, say in Fusion) or even here in Equis (which I tried my hardest to align and make as believable as possible), could you possibly describe it? If she sounds like a particular actor to you, who's voice would hers be most akin to?
I'm curious as to what your responses may be, and this potential variation in thought is exactly why I never really added true, indicative imagery of a true voice for Samus. So, what do you think? Discuss 
I've always imagine her sounding like Jennifer Hale (Prime games Samus and Female Shepard)
Either Poison Claw's idea or I picture her literally.... sounding average which to me makes it even MORE bad ass. Why? She isn't imposing. Or inspirational... this is an AVERAGE PERSON KILLING SPACE MONSTERS.
Perhaps more like Akatsuki from Log Horizon (sub, not dub) her voice is generally stoic but still shows a bit of emotion through the "mask".
Even if I know that Jennifer Hale could pull off that character in her sleep, I'd have to choose Kath Soucie. More specifically, her character of Maureen Crowley in Full Throttle. She had a good mixture of toughness and friendliness (even if she tends to be typecasted as cute characters).
And I'm probably the only person in the world who actually kinda liked Jessica Martin's rendition (even if I'll admit that it's not very good). I looked up some of her other stuff and I honestly believe that she could've pulled it off if she had better material.She's really talented and I really wish for her to get better roles.
3124091 That's a good one, I completely forgot about her... heresy! She did an amazing job with Bastila in KOTOR so yeah I could see that if they actually decided to give Samus dialogue, just not in the former's accent and 'smoothness' of her voice.

3124122 To me? Sorta kind... considerate. Yes they do tend to have a bit of an edge and a limit but normally they're calm and collective... but god help you if they get pissed.
3124118 that's what bothers me too. She could have done SO much better, but in the end it probably was up to the producer and not her, which sucks. Other M got Samus' physical appearance right in my opinion (sans the height and muscle mass, the bitch is 6'2" and about 190 lbs), but god that monotone, emotionless voice made me want to hang myself. Jessica is great, as you point out, but god what the hell happened here, right?

3124132 I credit this to bad directing as opposed to bad acting (as overdone or out of character the emotional moments were, she handled them pretty well). Even the best actors can be brought down by bad directors (I heard that the voice director was the Japanese director, so that might explain a bit).
Other M wasted a lot of talent. I mean, they even got Stephen Weyte (the Federation Colonel in the ending), who's amongst one of my favorite underrated voice actors there (He was Caleb in Blood and Greil in Fire Emblem. Ah and Captain Claw).
3124141 Lmao the first twenty-five seconds sounded like softcore porn going on. As for the voice, not bad at all though it sounds a tad cryptic and 'dark.' Then again, it's in the context of Smash so dialogue would be made to suit that.
She actually has a few voiced quotes in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Granted, it's restricted to about two taunts, and possibly two victory poses in her Zero Suit.
Regardless, I think the voice she had there fit quite well, which is funny because it's Super Smash Bros. and not a stand-alone Metroid game. And, up until Other M, they were the only spoken voice overs she ever had.
I've said before: Jen Taylor as Cortana. Because Cortana's voice model changes from game to game, specifically her appearance in Halo 4.

To me, she sounds Tsundere. Mostly cold and controlled, but at the same time you can tall her feelings on a situation if you listen hard enough.

Edit: I'm speaking of the modern interpretation of tsundere, which flips between hostility and lovestruck at the drop of a hat, not the original interpretation. Apologies if this was unclear!

I meant the original definition, the one where the character is cold and aloof on the outside, but warm and tender on the inside, only showing that side to those they trust and care for.

While I can't confirm this. I've heard that she was specifically told to act in that monotone way by Sakamoto. (The game's creator/director.)
As for my choice, Jennifer Hale is certainly near the top of the list.

Oddly, I imagine Samus having a sort of high and sweet voice, meant to sort of counter the fact that she's a super dangerous bounty hunter. Maybe Christina Vee. She does some really good voices.

I always pictured her with a strong heavily controlled Contralto voice, a la Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail.
