Metroid GoH Part 17 Just about done · 5:54pm Nov 28th, 2023
Hey y'all,
So after a lot of exhilaration and heartache (for this story, lots of highs and lows trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do at a specific point) over the last couple months, I'm closing in on the final paragraphs of the chapter. However, the editing needed is kind of atrocious so it'll probably take at most a week or so to get through that before publishing.
But... it's done. And the plot and direction I'm taking is what I feel the best I'm capable of at this time so I'm not gonna stress over it anymore.
I will warn you though, this is going to be a monstrous chapter. For what I have planned, it kinda has to be. I'm thinking it'll probably push 20,000 words or more by the time edits are fully complete. Sometime next week on the eve of release, I will put a poll asking if people want the full monty, or to split it into two 'manageable' chapters of somewhat equal length. If the former, great! If the latter, the first part will be released the next day, and then the second the day after that.
As for the boss fight that everyone expects? I initially expected it to drag on for a long time, making it a much more monstrous chapter than it already is, but... inspiration struck and it doesn't need to be this way for what I devised would be an even better route. Let's just say I'm taking a rather... interesting approach, one that might be risky for those that enjoy long drawn out boss fights of the Metroid series. I feel that if this lands, it's gonna land beautifully. And if it doesn't... well, always next chapters lol. Hopefully it doesn't end up being too 'controversial.' Hell, I'm probably just overthinking it. I'm gonna stop rambling.
