Be still, sad heart! and cease repining; Behind the clouds is the sun still shining.

You probably know how this sort of thing goes. There you are, mowing your grass on a day that can't decide whether to shine or drizzle on you, a few years and counting into your non-writing streak. Whatever thoughts you're having are at the expense of your lawnmower picking a fight with every passing tuffet and losing.

A nice breezy dialogue to ease in with:

CARABAS’ COMMON SENSE: So, a hypothetical conservation for you.
CARABAS: Two lines in and we’ve already got fictional discourse nested in the initial fictional discourse. Gosh, I must just love to live dangerously.

One story down, several more to go. · 4:26pm May 21st, 2015

The Tempest's done. The writing process for it spanned longer than I expected, was interrupted by my final university exams, and near the end, ran parallel to some unhappy real-life happenings. But it's done. And the response to it - in terms of views, likes, detailed comments and discussions, and even popping up in the Feature Box whenever the last few chapters were published - was better than anything I could have expected. You're the best readers, and let no-one tell you otherwise.

What now, writing-wise? Depending on my levels of business (usually minimal) throughout the summer, I'll hope to at least continue and finish off Stopped Clock, and maybe give some much-needed attention to the poor, neglected The Devil's Details. Time allowing, I'll even get started on a short story collection, featuring little snippets from the universe of Moonlight Palaver and The Tempest. I've got a few initial ideas, but if anyone has a burning desire for a particular nation or concept or historical detail to be explored, I'll see what I can do.

My kingdom for more material involving the Crown. The Crown is probably my favourite character from your stories. He's hilarious, menacing, and menancingly hilarious, and because of that he works great as a supporting character and as a potential villain, much like Discord himself.

And out of all the new characters introduced in The Tempest, the corvid is also pretty awesome. More of her too, please.

I saw Tempest in the featured box last night. I'll be gettin to it soon...ish. I'm also sorely tempted to hate you for being capable of pumping out 30k+ words in the time it takes me to do 10, but then I'd have to go through all the trouble of moving in with you, dressing like you, kidnapping your girlfriend and holding her hostage in an abandoned wharehouse until we have a showdown on a catwalk above a vat of acid. And that would just be murder on my hair, so I'll settle for begrudging happiness.

I'm most curious to see the conflict alluded to at the end of the Tempest, with the hope being it's 'Crown/Crows start a war, they get a lesson in arrogance', because far too many of these stories turn into 'War begins, Princesses get smacked down, war grows, eventually the day is saved but not without massive strife and suffering' and....it'd be rather fun to see that subverted by someone with your skill.

I'm very excited to check this out now. :D

I have been kicking around two different short story ideas centred around the Crown. One would be a straight-up origin story, covering its creation and its assumption of power over a Capric tribe. The other would be its first meeting with Celestia after it secured control of Capra entirely, and lay the seeds of their hostile relationship. Both would seem to cast it in a villain-protagonist role. Other ideas might crop up that feature it as a straight-up villain or as a supporting character. As for the corvid, I've considered hashing out her own ascension to Cormaerdom. Heavens help anyone who read it who couldn't understand Scottish English, though.

I may be hateable, but at least I earn that hate. I'll be happy to hear what you think whenever you can get round to it, man.

Though, you know, if you want to do the other thing, that's fine too. I've been looking for a good origin story to excuse my entry into masked vigilantism for some time now.

3086626
There's room for all manner of subversions in any such conflict, I'm sure. Hopefully, I'd be able to write them well and keep them interesting. Both sides would certainly attempt to not be stupid about things, and bring their force to bear where they expect results and attempt to knock out big-hitters whenever possible.

Nobody going out of their way to be stupid in order to satisfy tired tropes would be the important thing to try and achieve. Being a stupid person myself, it'd be tricky, but I'd certainly do my best.

3086761
I'd be delighted to have your checking. :pinkiehappy:

Honestly, I'm happy with anything set in that world. The only thing I would request is a POV other than Burro Delver's, and that's simply so we could experience a different POV.

Celestia meeting the Crown for the first time. Now there's an event that I imagine went horribly.

I just want more words. :B
Pony words, specifically :derpytongue2:

(Mostly more of the M.Pavaler\Tempest universe, in any way/shape/form)

maybe give some much-needed attention to the poor, neglected The Devil's Details.

Oh goodie. But then again, I'll probably have to reread the stupid thing because it's been so long :rainbowwild:

featuring little snippets from the universe of Moonlight Palaver and The Tempest.

>implying that isn't the universe of all of your stories

3087097
Different POVs can certainly be arranged. For some of what I'm considering, Burro wouldn't so much as exist at the time.

Mind you, one other idea does feature on his days as a young privateer alongside Gellert. Too many ideas!

3087108
It wasn't the most harmonious of diplomatic occasions, to say the least.

3087413
Palaver/Tempest pony words can be arranged! Also, I really need to come up with a snappy name for this fanon setting, now I think about it.

3087435
Re-read away! More Good/Great/Whichever stuff can be elicited, I'm sure. :trollestia:

More far-flung snippets, that is. Without necessarily featuring all that canon silliness.

I actually quite like Burro. Aside from heartily seconding the moar-Crownz-plz sentiment, I think my second choice for a new Palaverempestverse fic would probably be an exploration of Burro and Gellert's background together. Those two are broriffic.

3088092
Seconding and second choice noted! More Crown goodness is definitely due to be concocted. And like I replied to psychicscubadiver, I've had some ideas for Burro and Gellert's younger days as bro privateers.

Haven't been to Fimfiction in awhile, good to see you finished the Tempest. :moustache:

Story ideas? Let's see... The last video game I played was Witcher III, the last movie I saw was Tomorrowland, and the last anime I finished was freaking Berserk. I dare you to write a fic utilizing elements from all three. :trollestia:

3116229
Haven't played any of the games (or read the books) for the first, haven't yet seen the second, and know the third only through TV Tropes.

I may be the single least qualified person in the world to tackle that particular mix. I'm ashamed as well.

3116343 Hmm... Then more Crown stuff. :raritywink:
