Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. (And a note on intertextuality and general bullshit) · 5:24am Feb 26th, 2015

First: A Certain Magical Index is a good anime. I'm working my way through it. A Certain Scientific Railgun is pretty good as well, but I'm holding off on it until I'm through Index's first season.

Secondly: I'm a huge weeaboo. When we had movie night with our pledges we ended up watching like the first 6-7 episodes of Sword Art Online (Which I don't hate and think gets a lot of flack by people who actually havn't watched the whole way through the Aincrad arc. However, I have problems with the first season as a whole.) On Saturday a bunch of us are going to get a bunch of food, probably some bourbon, and marathon all like 10 hours or whatever of Hellsing Ultimate.

Thirdly. Those who have read the newest chapter of The Night is Passing have noticed the odd sections in italics. This is where those sections were taken from. It's not exactly my most read story, but it has good views. Slow, but people began reading it more and more. It's short, about 2,200 words. I wrote it while reading Faulkner, specifically As I Lay Dying which I kinda think is one of his best things ever or whatever. It's really good and you should read it. The Dewey Dell POVs are some of the most poetic things he ever did.

There are a few stories that were either prototypes for or direct prequels for The Night is Passing. I started working on the original idea sometime around March 2013, if you count from the beginning of my outlining. But it had been bothering me for much longer. I would say it had been weighing on me in some form or another for a while before that.

In planning and outlining I turned to some of the stories I had already written, and as I began to release it I began writing stories as a sort of exploration, working things out.

Great Heart Will Not Be Denied was the first prototype, a failed attempt if you will. Where Mad Gods Dance was the other prototype story. The Mad God and his rampage is mentioned only briefly, or has been mentioned briefly so far. Mad Gods can honestly be read as a sort-of not really prequel. Kind of.

Mostly, it was a way for me to get over the Songverse. For one thing, Songverse ends in tragedy. Not the story itself, but... I was really writing an extended lovesong for a 5 year relationship that died hard and fast. I had no more warmth left for it. I loved it but it sputtered and died and I mourned that I could not really... finish it. Beyond the emotional thing, it also provided me a way to have a sort of do-over for a lot of the things in the Songverse. Jannah, Raridash, danger and threat, darkness and the song beyond creation. All that dumb cliche shit.

Wanted to give a little bit of context for those weird sections. Wanted to ramble a bit. How is everyone?

You know what's weird? Blue Drop is weird. Its really really really weird, man.

Oh, and the quote is from 1 Peter.

Things are going, all right. I'm talking to my family about stuff and getting mixed results. I'm also wondering when I can expect to see a new chapter to ravage edit.

>Sees mention of "Honor the emperor" in chat title.
>Super excited.
>Imperium is best.
>Praise da Emperah.
>Get no Emperah praising.

Explore the signs, they are everywhere and speak through fish mouths, see the strange watery eye in the depths of the lake, no abasements must be made to it, but the light of the stone must blot it out and give way to the immortal golden soul.

Words are flesh, flesh is clay, mould it to your will, illumination follows as a sacred dancer.

Beware the magpie.

2831740 I'll give it to ya in a bit!

General note that the guy who makes the SAO source material is rebooting the light novels. Also, the Light Novels are better than the anime at grounding it all, but it's still kind of rushed, though it makes more sense.

Hi, Elfy! :pinkiehappy:

I wanted to say something else here, but nothing comes to mind. Guess I'll just be stalking thehalfelf. :derpytongue2:

2832387 I've been wanting to read them. Are they available in English? Also, reboot? In what sense?

The first three light novels are out in English, the fourth, the second half of the Fairy Dance arc is set to come out the 21st of April (from Barnes and Noble). I'm not sure what the reboot is actually going to entail, but from what I'm hearing around the web, it's a total series reboot, straight back to Aincrad. I'm a little skeptical, but I suppose as long as the current SAO continues (it's currently on the 15th light novel) I'll be happy even if the reboot is bad.

Also, don't ruin my whole enjoyment of everything. I've been working on the assumption that anything and everything to do with Jannah and the Mad God(s) across all stories are related. For me everything is one story, connected by one incomprehensible villain, across multiple instances of reality. Just multiple stories of mortals all fighting their own battles against an utterly alien enemy that has very little regard for causality and the barriers of various universes. The more it operates the more things bleed across one another. I'm going to keep thinking this about your stories. One very painful metaverse.

I imagine it all starts with or is Twilight after she guts Rainbow Dash during that blood magic story, just to make things even more weird and horrible

Is there a guide to how to read the songverse?

2834612 You're actually looking at it like I hoped people would :3

2834676 There is a mildly outdated chronological order on the bottom of my page.

Essentially, read "Where the Sun is Silent" to have context for "Catch For Us the Little Foxes". That's the main story. Any other Raridash story in the gallery is related, in some way or another.

2834676 Honestly, I found the most fun to be reading things in whatever order struck my fancy and figuring out the connections as I went. Make your own adventure.

It's such a dark and wonderful metaverse. I would so love to see more of the Memento Mori splinter, so dark.
