Crystal Wishes

to thine own self write true

  • TCrystal's Wishes
Crystal Wishes thought she was content just writing about ponies falling in love. While her career takes off, her love life is somewhat... lacking. Can she be happy living vicariously through her stories or will she find her own happily ever after?

Honestly, I logged in to delete this account, but I saw waiting, unread PMs notifications, and as a human being, I glanced. And the previews I glanced over made me decide otherwise.

I wish all of you well. May you all find joy. I am happy to say I have found mine. I am writing again after years of having a PTSD reaction to just opening a word document. On another site, in another fandom.

Time moves so quickly and so slowly that it baffles me. The calendar is approaching my veritable D-day anniversary; it's almost been a year since something happened that broke me into so many pieces that I didn't think I could be put back together again.

What Did Blueblood Say? (Crystal's Wishes Bonus Content) · 8:04pm Jan 24th, 2015

Hello folks! I'm very grateful to all of you that have taken the time to read my story, Crystal's Wishes. If you've read up to The Royal Pain, then I've got something for you! Of course, if you haven't read that far yet, then this is a bit of a spoiler but won't ruin anything. Either way, enjoy!

Upper Crust's gaze darted around the respectable faces of her guests. Every pony seemed to be enjoying themselves and it made her head incline even higher with pride. She knew she would certainly be called upon next year to throw the garden party again, and this pleased her almost as much as her impending conversation with Prince Blueblood. If Crystal married him, she and Jet Set would never have to worry about her or themselves again.

The stallion in question stood out against the high-class faces that were common by comparison to his. She wriggled her shoulders as she straightened her posture and strode over to him. "Prince Blueblood," she called, waving a hoof. "Oh, Prince Blueblood, may I have a moment of your time?"

Blueblood greeted her with what was nearly a frown, catching her off-guard, but she kept her gentle smile firmly in place.

"I do apologize for my daughter," she said in a playful tone. "You know how young mares can be when overwhelmed by your presence, I'm sure."

This seemed to briefly please the stallion. "Yes, I do have that effect on some mares." His gaze started to wander away from her. "Your apology is accepted." A hoof lifted to take him a step away from her, but when she continued to speak, he sighed and regarded her with clear disinterest.

"Why don't you let me smooth things over between you and her? She is my only daughter, after all, and I would so hate for her to have stumbled over her own hoof."

Blueblood stared down his snout at her. A smirk crawled across his lips like strangling kudzu. "Your daughter, or your ticket?"

"My—"

"Mrs. Crust... or perhaps I should say, Madam Crust?" He rolled his eyes and stomped a hoof to move closer to her, towering over her, his words dripping with venom. "You can take your self-serving little trick pony and direct her nethers elsewhere. I have no interest in your little play for power. In fact, if you continue to throw her at me so markedly, you may find your invitation to host this party revoked."

Upper Crust's pretenses fell as his words gave her great umbrage. Her anger, her disbelief, her indignation... all if it flashed across her face until it settled on distress. "H-How dare you!" she finally hissed. The hairs along her shoulders and neck bristled.

Blueblood sighed and turned away from her. "If you deny it, then you are more deluded than I previously thought."

Upper Crust stood her ground and stared at him while he walked away. His words flashed through her mind and hearing them a second time, her vexation faded to despair as realization abruptly and painfully sunk in. She wanted to cry, but she used all of her years of training and practice to keep the tears at bay.

"No more," she whispered to herself and shook her head. "I can't do this to her anymore."

In a few short sentences the Ponce of Canterlot has ripped down every bit of Upper Crust's delusions over her daughter.... I'm almost sad, but really, I'm much more happy that Upper Crust finally saw the error of her ways, and it's more evidence for me to say that 'yes, he is arrogant, but the majority of it is most likely an act of overblowing his pride to insufferability.' Honestly, he seems to smart for that. That was just too calculated to be an obliviously arrogant ponce. I commend you for keeping him in Gala form but also hinting at something deeper, rather than going unambiguously one way or the other..... Now I can't wait for the next chapter..... :pinkiehappy:

Well, let's face it, when navigating the sociolgical and political battlefields Blueblood is an expert, and Upper Crust is nothing more than a rookie that relies on her luck.

Oooh! Nicely done, Crystal. Nicely done. I do so love the rude awakening for Upper Crust. Can't wait to see where this is going.

Thanks for reading, y'all! I'd been thinking of what he had said for a few days now and it won't be directly revealed in the story, but I wanted to share it nonetheless. Raven gives Crystal a basic gist in the next chapter but since Upper Crust had such a drastic change in attitude in The Royal Pain I was a little overeager to share her side of the story.

Plus, I know a fair amount of readers don't like her, so I figured it would be a treat to see her verbally slapped into place. :raritywink:

And thus, Blueblood remains best minor antagonist.

Hm....

I really, really ought to finish writing the story I have for him.

I should finish writing a lot of stories.

2744372 You really ought to, unless you really don't want to... but I think you do! :rainbowwild:

I really like that one word you added: minor antagonist. I certainly don't want to portray him as a villain or heartless, especially since the upcoming chapter should contradict that, but "minor antagonist" fits so well with my impression of him.

Ooooo! That's cold!
And yet, you feel for Blueblood, because everyone around him has an agenda. He can't afford to assume that anyone is altruistic or approaching him with pure motives. If I were him, I might be a high-grade, certified, royal [big jerk] too.

2744408 I wholly agree! :yay: I think you might like the upcoming chapter... I really like sharing my headcanon in this story, and oh boy, do I have some thoughts on our favorite prince.

Well, here! Have a free sneak preview!

Meanwhile, In Another Universe...

2744444 I expect the rest of that story on my desk by the end of the week. Get to work!

In seriousness, holy goodness that was a good read! Excuse me as I promptly add your stuff to my 'to read' list.

2744469
Yes! That's three featured authors who read my stuff! Now, I just need to get Anzel aboard this crazy train, and I can finally enact my plans!

My eeevil plans! Or, I would do that, if I had any evil plans! Which I don't. Nope. Evil plans just really aren't my thing.

My eeevil thing....

Oh wow, this is an interesting new version of Blueblood here. This was more than just some "Ewww get away from me! You're dirty!" type of Blueblood. He was a type of person that is pompous but has some tentatively accurate smarts to go along with that self absored douchbag character type. Gotta say, he saw right through Upper Crust and called her out right then and there. Harsh. But had he not, that might have spelled disaster for our fair Crystal. This is an interesting tidbit in the mind of Upper Crust. I did have a feeling she was trying to get in Blueblood's good graces and giving Crystal an opportunity of a lifetime simultaneously by introducing her to him. That obviously crashed and burned. Well she has gained some insight on that jerkoff and now has a little more respect for her daughter.

All I gotta say is "ouch."

That...actually make BB tolerable, in a way.

WOW, I was NOT expecting that to have come out of his mouth. Good on Crusty for how she handled it, and what she said to Crystal when she went back.

Trick pony? Did he just say trick pony??? Lemme at him, I'll kill him!! No one calls Crystal a trick pony!!!!

cold, rude, impatient, and assuming.
I don't think I like him.

I get what you mean, I wonder how long Blueblood has had to deal with Nobles throwing their offspring at him, hoping one would stick. He's got to have gotten pissed at some point.

I like this Blueblood. Assuming my connections between his actions here and the reveal he has a thing with Raven is correct.

Time for crazy late comment: I am actually glad Blueblood was a complete douche to Upper Crust. I don't think anything else would have made her see her daughter's point of view so clearly.

Ok, this has me thinking...

Could it be that Blueblood's actions at the Gala in the S1 finale was an act he used to keep those away who would wish to court him only for his money/position? Could it be that deep down inside, he is not as callous as his actions seemed to suggest?

Could it be that he is, in fact, in love with a mare already, but due to socio-political reasons, he needs to keep the relation secret, most likely, for Raven's sake?

If this is actually the case, then I have to admit to gaining a measure of respect for him. Also, if that is the case, then I do hope that at some point, he would be able to come out into the open about his relationship with Raven. I am guessing that it would be his peers among the Canterlot elite that force him to hide his relationship. I cannot see Princess Celestia doing anything that would disallow such a relationship to occur.
