Scene change - Celestia's motivation - Feedback needed

Hello all fans of this story. Due to high controversy regarding Celestia's actions and received feedback, I decided to expand on Celestia's scene to give better reasoning behind her actions.

Sure, what she did is still a desperate and bold move, but I hope what I added will make it more understandeable and improve quality of the story.

Scene change - Kyuubi's injury - Feedback needed

    Hello everyone.

Considering the feedback, I came to conclusion that the scene where Shining Armor injured Kyuubi seemed more harsh and more intentional than I intended, so I decided to add minor changes.
Also, it was pointed out to me that tails don't bleed, so I decided to adress it as well.

Here is the altered scene, changed as marked in bold:

I appologize for the delay in updating

Greetings all readers and fans of "Tails of Innocence"

I would like to appologize for this long delay in updating this story. There are two reasons behind it:
    1) Chapter 9 felt rushed to me and I had difficulty figuring out how to expand on it in a satisfying way, but I finally succeded. I can only hope it will be enough.

What you think of Nightmare Moon? + Quessing game · 5:15pm Nov 24th, 2014

Nightmare Moon once again had a chance to interact with Twilight Sparkle.
Considering that she had her apperance in Town Hall, interaction with Celestia, and now once again with Twilight, I wanted to ask what do you all so far think about this version of her character?

I tried to make her much more interesting and less stupid than she is in the show, trying to present her as a Black Knight type; honest, with honor, kind to alies, merciless to enemies, prideful and struborn. Now I want to ask you all what you think about her so far?

Also, another question to all of you. Since chapter 5 part 1 ended up on Nightmare Moon challenging Twilight to a battle to the death, I would like to ask you; what do you think will happen next?

Feel free to post your own idea, or upvote or downvote ideas of others. Think of it as a game, and lets see whose guess will be closest to the truth.

Personally, I feel that you've gotten as close to the core of what Luna would and should be as Nightmare Moon. Old world values at their finest, and I can very much see Nightmare using this duel as a bit of a goad to prompt Twilight into either dealing a deathblow and taking the honorable way out of her own words, or as a way of teaching Twi a set of values and honor similar to her own.

I can see Twi, in a fit of desperation, returning to her actual size... Though what the consequences of that would be, I know not.

I really like your take on the Nightmare--she is delightfully old-fashioned and stubborn.

Whatever is going to happen, the only thing I do not expect is Twilight actually resign and grant her death. Or, more probable, attempt to do that, as she would most probably be stopped by something. I'd guess she'll once again try to talk her down by poking holes into her motivation or by reminding her of earlier, better times. Something along those lines. The Elements might make an appearence as an additional method of magical persuasion.

The Black Knight is one of my absolute favorite kinds of antagonists(when written well that is), and you have managed pull it of marvelously. And I really hope that Twilight will return to her normal size and SCARE Nightmare into giving up, or something similar.

Thanks.

I can see how Nightmare Moon would like to play role of Twilight's mentor, that is why she is trying so hard to win her respect, but she also understand that Twilight already have her mentor who she won't betray, so it makes sense that she would both want Twilight to be the one delivering a final blow in honorable combat, as well as pass her values to future generation.

I can see Twi, in a fit of desperation, returning to her actual size... Though what the consequences of that would be, I know not.

So you are voting for Twilight returning to her normal size. I think this is an outcome Nightmare Moon hope for as well, but do your prediction is true or not will come out in distant future.

So you vote that Twilight will not kill Nightmare Moon or be stopped form doing so, and she will try to talk her down, and even that Elements will play a role in persuasion. That's quite a lot of predictions, 4 at best.

We will see how many come true and how many will prove false (your score will be in % of how many you got right).

The Black Knight is one of my absolute favorite kinds of antagonists(when written well that is), and you have managed pull it of marvelously.

I am glad that I did.
It was one thing to try and make Nightmare Moon a black knight type, and another story to pull it off well.

And I really hope that Twilight will return to her normal size and SCARE Nightmare into giving up, or something similar.

So you vote for Twilight returning to her original size and scaring Nightmare Moon into surrendering. Lets see which of those two predictions will turn out to be right or wrong.
Still, given Nightmare's character trails, I doubt Twilight would scare her. I mean, black knight type of characters are very brave and usualy don't fear death. Nightmare Moon is literally expect that Celestia or Twilight will kill her, so I do not really see how Twilight would be able to scare her. I doubt even group of grown up dragons would pull it off.

So far 3 people participated. I hope more will join.

Well, this would indeed be an interesting development...:trollestia:

For the record, I wouldn't be surprised if you'd keep the Elements of Harmony out of Twilight's attempt to stop/persuade the Nightmare, but I'd guess that you will want to end the story with an ending close to canon. That is, a more-or-less Luna pony at Celestia's side and Twilight staying with the rest of the Mane 6 as the element wielders in Ponyville. Of course, this pretty much necessitates the usage of the Elements prior to the end, and I'd be surprised if they would be used against anypony else than Nightmare Moon. If you should not aim for a close-to-canon ending, I'd happily ditch the Elements as I would imagine Twilight being able to persuade your sensible version of Nightmare without the liberal application of what comes a bit down to mindwashing magic.

I'm predicting that Twilight will continue to try and reason with Nightmare, but ultimately failing as she is attacked each time. Nightmare will most likely want to see just how much potential Twilight truly has and force her into a corner to finally break the shrinking spell. The rest of the bearers and Twilight's guards will show up when they hear either the sounds of battle or Twilight screaming in pain, but Twilight refuses their assistance.

I would expect Twilight to remember her sparring match with Celestia, Celestia's resolve, so similar to Nightmare's, that she decides to finally break Celestia's shrinking spell and overpowers the injured and weakened Nightmare, giving her a rather quick and decisive beat down. Twilight will most likely refuse to deliver the final blow and if Celestia shows up, Twilight would stand in her way, to prevent Celestia from delivering a final blow herself. It's possible Twilight and Celestia may come to blows, but conflict could be avoided. If Twilight uses the Elements of Harmony, well.. What I hope is that Luna awakens, but Nightmare is separated from Luna and becomes her own being. Rather than being destroyed.

Way I see it, Nightmare is Luna's protector, her guardian, who took on Luna's regret, sorrow, anger, pain, and would act independently on the desires that Luna had. I'd hope that Nightmare and Celestia will both stand down if Luna stands between them, compromises and assurances. As for Twilight... Well, pretty sure she's a threat to everything around her as she has little to no control over her magic. She'd probably request to be shrunk again in the end. As for Twilight's personal decisions, that really depends on the dialogue from here to there. So I won't bother with a prediction on that, till such a time comes.

Nightmare Moon's character is what I hoped for when you introduced her in this series. An honorable mare who stands for what she believes is right, but has a more stubborn nature and refuses to acknowledge information that may lead to compromise... Due to the wishes of another that she holds in highest regards. (Who ironically is still sleeping, so isn't able to voice reason through said thick skull.)

I've liked Nightmare Moons character so far. As for the guesses: i'm going to say Twilight will fight mostly defensive, whilst using diplomacy. After fighting for a while i think the rest of the characters will come in and use the elements do restore Luna.

A small misspelling, fixed.

I won't spoil anything. All I can say is that some part of the story will be predictable, and some part of the story will be very surpricing.
While I stick to the canon, this story develop diferently, so even if destination may seems similar, the jorney is diferent.

Twilight would stand in her way, to prevent Celestia from delivering a final blow herself

Umm, while I do not want to interfere with your predictions, i would like to point out that Celestia wouldn't want to kill her own sister. Just saying.

It's possible Twilight and Celestia may come to blows, but conflict could be avoided.

And why would they fight each other? I barely see any reason why Celestia would want to hurt her own student.

Due to the wishes of another that she holds in highest regards. (Who ironically is still sleeping, so isn't able to voice reason through said thick skull.)

Actually, Luna is not fully asleep. If you track whenever NIghtmaer Moon speak, you can see that she often use old Equestrian, this is when Luna's personality surface. It happened for the first time in Town Hall during talk with Twilight.
Nightmare Moon may be dominant one at this point, but Luna do surface from time to time.

All in all, your predictions are extremely long, so it may be hard to figure out how many were correct and how many were wrong.

Your vote has been noted. Thanks for participating.

You know my thoughts. I love a good villain.

We all know that Twilight is a genius. I she makes up for her poor decisions from earlier by tearing Nightmare/Luna's( flawed) logic apart Like she does during the first chapter of Winning, and the pitfalls therein.

2614810

i would like to point out that Celestia wouldn't want to kill her own sister. Just saying.

Anger clouds the mind, any intelligent being can do something they would quickly regret if the correct stimulation's occur. For example, seeing her guards all lying on the floor, from a distance, she could mistake them for being killed instead of asleep. While this might not be enough to push her over the edge, if she perhaps saw Twilight badly wounded and unconscious, then like the guards, assume she has been slain as well... Well, Celestia has made poor decisions before when emotional, it is possible she could be end up believing her sister cannot be saved and comes to the grim decision to end Nightmare/Luna's life.

And why would they fight each other? I barely see any reason why Celestia would want to hurt her own student.

Same situation as before, if Celestia isn't able to think straight, caught in her emotional turmoil. The mind not only clouded, but tends to block everything else out. Celestia might not want to hurt Twilight, she might even be acting to avenge Twilight, but when in an emotional state, the brain is barely processing logic, so it's possible Celestia would not even see Twilight standing before her, and Twilight ends up taking on her mentor.

The physical pain of a loved one tends to send a person into emotional turmoil, while physical pain by a loved one has a tendency to snap them out of it.

I think twilight will un-shrink herself and fall over due to the unfamiliar body.:twilightoops:
Luna might take pity...

'tis already devoured.
And once again the author shows that cliffhangers are, like, his thing.:raritywink:
You don't happen to have the next chapter already done as a christmas present for us, do you?

2673676
My faithful reader. I have like 40 chapters done. The issue is that they aren't edited. My editor focus on quality. In other words, his work is enjoyable and high quality, but also it takes him a lot of time to edit it. He will now have more time for editing than before, but I do not quarantee when he will finish next chapter.

If you feel like it, PM Kyodis and ask him to edit the next chapter as a christmess present. His speed decide when next chapter will be out. (You can find his account in story long description since I left links to editors in it).

2613932
Well, Nightmare Moon tried to force Twilight to duel her in the end, but failed twice. She also tried to return Twilight to normal size, but was interupted. So yea, you didn't won any pints. Better luck next time.

2613957
Well, Twilight tried to negotiate, and she did refuse to fight Nightmare Moon, but she didn't told her about better times, Elements had their apperance but weren't used.
I give you 0.5 points for your predictions.

2613984
No points here. Better luck next time.

2614167
Sorry, you missed all your predictions, and it is a pity since some of them were close and yet far away.

2614652
You quessed that she tried to use diplomacy.
On your other quess, Twilight didn't find at all, but she in the end she was mostly on defensive.
The rest of main 5 showed up to help, but they didn't use the Elements, at least not in this chapter.
I will give you 0.6 points for your predictions.

2615240
She did try to use diplomacy and prove Nightmare Moon wrong of her ways, but she failed to convince her to abandon her plan.
0.4 points for you since it was just one prediction.

2615516
No points here, better luck next time.

In the end, our victor is Rysek. Give him your applause.

Close second was Gastender, and third was joeyjumper94

And so our quessing game come to an end, thank you all for participating.
