So, an author I mostly respect has turned out to be an utter arse... · 5:22pm Jul 12th, 2014

I recently gave RealityCheck credit in the latest chapter of Horse Feathers, since I did steal without regrets take inspiration from how he does footnotes in his stories.

Most of you have probably heard already what I'm about to comment on, so the brief version:

I do not agree with his opinion on homosexuals and their rights, but I still think he writes good stories. Thus I am leaving that recommendation in that author's comment up, but I've added a line about this whole debacle.

Edit: It has come to my attention that RealityCheck is anti-gay. I do not agree with this, but I have seen no hint so far of this in the actual stories he writes. As long as that does not change, I will still recommend his writings.

I simply think those of you that care slash are effected by this viewpoint deserves to know of it before-hand.

That about sums it up. Good stories, not so good opinions from the author.

My own opinion on this (Hint: The main character of my most viewed story was once a dude, and she has the unrequited hots for best background pony. :ajbemused:) and a more specific rant coming soon in a longer version.

Might be a day or so. I'm waiting on permission for a few pictures that would make the whole thing a bit neater, and I want to research the whole thing a bit.

I just decided to stop following him.

I've tried reading some of his work previously. Saw some Goodkind-style soapboxy shoving of things down the reader's throat. Voiced my disagreement respectfully, got blocked.

Screw him.

Ah, i noted you replied, and sorry it got the site whammo, i just wanted to point out that well, and you may have said this, that this is the same guy I mentioned when I did some looking on a more refreshed note. It is the TotQ, nip and tuck, and all those comics. Urgh, yeah. I wish I had known that ages ago.

Umm... Why do we give a shit what his beliefs are? They don't affect us in anyway aside from possibly reading material, so how does that make him an ass? :facehoof: People get all upset and uppity over the dumbest things...

Speaking of that story... Want an editor for it? 'Cuz I'll do that.

2277839 Because some people don't want to support a homophobe. If he gets a view from them, they'll feel bad. I don't rightly understand, but that there's the gist of it.

Can't wait to hear more from you!

If you're interested, in the comments to shortskirtandexplosions's latest story, I've outlined everything I know about this kerfluffle, and there was some interesting discussion (given that the whole story is an allegory for this).

And I must say, even if it's because of something bad happening, this is all very exciting if viewed through the lens of site growth!

.....I may have been reading too much political analysis of Game of Thrones :twilightblush:

Again and again I see that ultimate heinous act in our enlightened times is a thoughtcrime. :facehoof:

I believe XKCD put it rather elegantly.

RealityCheck is perfectly in the right to hold his opinion... just as we are allowed to shout from the rooftops how we disagree.

I personally mostly wanted a polite 'I disagree' on record, because if you remain silent you might as well consent. That type of stuff.
