Working on Feathered Heart and a small Movie Review · 3:26am May 3rd, 2014
This is a potentially short blog just to inform everyone that I'm working on Feathered Heart. It's reaching around 3.500 words, and I'm hoping to reach around 5,000 for the chapter. I'm beginning to notice that my word count is slowly decreasing, but I also noticed that each chapter is moving things forward. I try to add a bit more information here and there, but I realized that moving the story forward is a bit more rewarding, and adding details in between that is challenging.
On that thought, I just finished watching The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I'm a little ambivalent about it. I like it a bit better than the first one, especially the action sequences (the one with Spidey and Electro going all out in the Power Plant is a visual and audio thrill, something I would definitely call a moment of awesome of that movie). For some reason, I'm noticing a distinct pattern of how the story goes in these types of movies. There's some early action, some comedy, then we get some introspection of the hero, character growth, then ends with a 20-30 minute nonstop action feature. It reminds me of a milder version of The Drunken Master II, where it was a 40 minute holy-shit-fucking-hell-yeah kung-fu action in its finest in the end.
Though I have to say, I like the previous villain better than here. Connor/Lizard was, at least, human, and it was fun seeing his conflict there. Electro, though, was crazy from the start, and only got progressively worse as he got his powers. Harry Osborn was more of my type of villain, though his alterego only appeared near the end. However, his impact was pretty much bigger than Electro accomplished, and any Spidey comic readers would understand. Sorry, no spoilers for you filthy casuals. You'll have to watch it, like me (also a filthy casual. )
Don't trust the trailer. Electro is the main villain here, along with a side-kick.
I mentioned earlier that the action sequences was something I liked about the movie. Well... I think they captured the essence and spirit of how Spiderman is supposed to fight in these movies—fast, acrobatic, and some parkour, along with very creative use of his webbing. There was also some science-y sequences that still remind you that Spiderman is a nerd (and Stark's illegitimate child. Don't judge me!), and more Peter Gwen oral action. Yeah. Their conversations are fun.
All in all, I think its average, but I still enjoyed it.
Okay, back to writing. Later guys.
mai spiderwaifu is perf
no but seriously Andrew Garfield is pretty hot
There is an action movie beat-sheet that's recognized as "the formula" for a successful action movie, was leaked a number of years ago. Might be why a lot of movies these days feel similar XD

I'm trying to copy his hair... but no avail. Plus, he's a good actor. XD

You'd think with a good formula, the movies would be better. Though to be fair, even the average action films nowadays have more than a good chance to entertain me. Maybe I should be glad I'm not a cinophile.

XD Well, they're only general guidelines. So the writing in there has plenty room to be atrocious :3
That's a good thing.
