It's a day after Christmas. My Grandmother, whose birthday is on the 25th of December is getting her party later. I'm looking forward to the suckling pig roasted over a spit.
This year is almost coming to an end. Funny that my most productive moments of writing were in the past few weeks alone.
Okay, time to explore the good things this year. Let's start with the latest. Some have spoilers, so read at your own risk.
Star Wars is a good rehash of A New Hope. I do love the actors. Especially Finn. It's kinda weird to see this young ex-gang leader from South of London who put up a great sword fight against Wolf-Gorilla-Alien-Motherfuckers is now an ex-Storm Trooper with good aim and an American accent. I love Kylo Ren for the sole reason that he's the toughest Dark Force user in the series, and he isn't even fully trained. Got gut-shot by what could literally be a hand-canon of that universe, and still has enough fight in him to beat two people and almost win? His style of using Longsword arts was also a welcome from the almost fantastical fencing maneuvers from the Prequels (which I also loved, don't get me wrong). Rey is nice, but yeah, a bit Sue-ish. Don't mind too much because we know Ren's going to tear her ass a new one in the second. Trait of almost all heroes in Star Wars. Luke gets his hand cut off. Anakin get's his arm cut off (then arms, then legs). Rey's going to be cruising for a bruising.
Prison School anime is a very good adaptation of the manga. The darker parts were lost to give way to the comedy, which I heartily approve. Too bad it was mostly censored.
One Punch Man is a really enjoyable series. I ain't finished yet, but I hope it gets a second season.
Spectre was a bit of a hit and miss for me. I liked it overall, but I can see the results of the troubled production. Craig was tired. And probably annoyed enough that he played a Storm Trooper on Force Awakens. He's JB-007, the one that Rey first used her Force 'These aren't the droids you're looking for'. Voice and stance was all James Bond, though. Hopefully, the next film will have a more steady production.
Dave Bautista is getting some real movie creds. I'm happy for him. Hopefully, he'll continue to entertain me.
All my kittens are growing up. Destroying the place, really, but what the hell.
Feathered Heart has one completed draft still looked over, and another draft being written. I kinda got stuck, but I think I finally found a way to continue.
One more week, and it's a new year. As one TV show host said, same same, but different, but still the same.
