Graduation, Writing, and Fan Club · 8:15pm May 13th, 2012

Well, a lot has piled up on me in the last week but I'll summarize for you:

In short, I finished my classes, attended my commencement ceremony (which was long and cold but gave me and my friends plenty of snark material) and just when I get home to check on my grades I learn... I failed my last degree-required class by 3.75 points. Despite working my ass off and temporarily going insane.

Well, after running off to the lake to blow off some steam (screaming at bald eagles is surprisingly cathartic) I came back, took a deep breath, and decided to take a Maymester course in applied lithics (basically learning how to make our own stone tools out of chert) to get enough credit hours to pass. It's a one semester course squeezed into three weeks, runs from 12 to 4 four days a week. Needless to say I have to revamp my writing schedule more than a bit.

"Hands" Arc 3 has a definitive story now: A beginning, a middle, an end, and an overall point. It does involve Andrew becoming directly involved in the events of the episode "Dragon Quest" but only in areas where it would not matter who was in that particular place at the time. He also changes the ending, though in a hopefully more satisfying way than Arc 2 ended given the mixed reactions to it. I intend to write as much as I can over the course of the next week and have the first chapter out sometime this week. Additional chapters to follow, but the whole arc shouldn't take more than this month to finish. But don't quote me on that, God has a way of throwing wrenches into the turbofans of my life, causing a massive explosion and spectacular crash at the air show of... existence... The metaphor's a tad stretched.

In other news, I now have a fan club: http://www.fimfiction.net/index.php?view=group&group=759 You can find it here and join up. I will post the occasional article on my experience in fanfiction writing and tips on how to improve your own. I am also making it perfectly acceptable for anyone to write in the sandboxes I have set up with my fanfiction: Progress, Beating the Heat, Hands, any of them. I would appreciate a shout out but that's just because I try to do that out of common courtesy. I don't always succeed, mind, but I try.

Other than that? Enjoy your summer and don't worry: I'll find things to distract you from the seemingly endless wait for Season 3!

Good luck with that Maymester class, there. :yay: *Goes to join club*

Ouch. Sounds like the time I (almost, luckily I had a draft copy) didn't graduate because my idiot group member fouled up the paperwork on our year-long design project. Found that out after I had moved 1000 miles back home. Glad to hear you've got a way to fix things.

It doesn't... the story doesn't involve that Sonichu writer anymore, does it?:rainbowhuh:

Wow you have a fan club? Funny thing is I'm Not surprised

113841Thank you. No offense but having that guy didn't make any sense.

Any chance of more Pony Tales on the horizon? That's actually my favorite of your FiM stories.

As per usual, I will now ask: any intention on continuing with progress? :twilightsheepish:

Whaaa- A fan club?
JOINED. And honestly, I'm not too surprised at that. You're one of the most watched authors in here, I believe. Number... 4, with only 41 watchers behind number 1. Which, considering you've already amassed 875 watchers... Yeah.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the real Arc 3 (Because-the-writer-paused-and-thought-"What-the-Fuck-have-I-been-writing?"-and-canceled-the-previous-Arc-3)!

Also, 3.75 points.
Loooool.

Just keep in mind that writing fanfiction is far from your top priority. We can wait, life usually can't.

Good luck with your course.

screaming at bald eagles is surprisingly cathartic

I find that quite the amusing thing. I hope your Maymester class goes well. Don't drive yourself insane with it.

Congrats to you! I have my own commencement this Tuesday. I almost didn't graduate, but I pulled through by the skin of my teeth, just as everyone expected. :pinkiehappy:

113916 Glad to hear it! Congratulations!

You scream at bald eagles, I scream at canadian geese

Holy crap! A school course for making stone tools! That's epic.

Wait a minute... when would one ever use that skill?

You appear to have odd coping mechanisms for failure. Welp, at least you have them.
Imma go join your fanclub now.

Sort of a "summer school" type thing, yes? I had the bad luck of being 1 credit short my senior year in high school. THAT sucked donkey balls.

Well at least you can take that class. :pinkiehappy:

113964 I wholeheartedly approve of screaming at Canada geese. Filthy birds!

114211

They are fairly vicious though if you scream too long

Awesome! What did you study? I screwed up in the beginning of my college career, had a 1.89 GPA after my first two semesters (Engineering Major). Then I switched to a Computer Science Major (2.6 GPA after 2 semesters of that), then switched to Geology and never looked back (had my ups and downs with my GPA but managed a 3.05 by graduation). Luckily a lot of the courses I had already taken with the other majors counted toward my graduation.

Oh! AJT, you MUST post some photos of some of the stone tools you manage to make :raritystarry:. The Geology Department at CSUF down here in SoCal had debated having a semester-long course just like yours, but shot it down because none of the staff really knew how to make stone tools or even had the time to teach it. :twilightsheepish:

114688 Um... I graduate High School. I plan to go to Western Iowa Tech to major in Video Game Design in the fall.

Ah...I see. I thought you...well, you know what they say about when you 'assume' things, it makes an ASS out of U and ME (just me in this case :twilightsheepish:)

I'm sure we can wait for the next arc, plus Good Luck on the maymester class! Here, I'll give you a pony who is really great in school... (:derpytongue2:) Anyways screaming does blow off steam, like me screaming at pigeons, Man I was doing great in first semester, now I'm doing horrible at second semester, cause all of this burden on my back (sore pain), lots of problems at my house...:pinkiecrazy:

113834>>113871
Don't be surprised. It just took a while for someone to actually do it.
And that person is me.

Good luck with your Maymester course! I really am hoping everything turns out great for you.
