128 is better
It burns!
I know dat feel, bro.
It's because of "TL/DR;". I know, they're stupid.
Sequel: 7+7=Triangle!
Don't knock it too hard, 2 + 2 = Fish was a great little story that I could see happening in the actual show! Yes, there are a few grammar and spelling issues that would be worth a second pass to clean up, (such as "Pinkie giggled and pat her friend’s head.") but the majority of the story was well written. The characters were in-character, and the story accomplished just what it set out to do: make the reader smile!
Is it a grand masterpiece? No, but it's a well-written fanfiction. And sometimes, that is all a story needs to be.

I just wish that the stories I actually poured heart into would get an equal amount of attention
It's not that I hate 2 + 2 = Fish, I just think it's wildly too popular for what it is

I think almost every author struggles with this. For instance, I started a short little Sparity romance story. The first chapter was just a letter that Spike wrote to Celestia, explaining why he cared about Rarity. I wrote that because I saw so many stories that made Spike out to be this immature goofball who only likes Rarity because she's "pretty". That's not the Spike we see in The Show, so I wanted to write a little something that might make people think.
It was a smash hit. I expanded it, and even released a sequel. However, during the months that it took me to write and publish that story, I published two smaller stories about Octavia and Vinyl. Neither one has more than twenty likes. I put just as much work into them, for their size anyway, but they did not receive as much attention. Such is life, I suppose. That's just the way the public can be.
On the other hand, my personal favorite story that has taken more time than everything else I've published put together, is also really struggling. I keep releasing updates, hoping that it will take off, but it never does. The comments are very positive, telling me that readers like the action and that I'm handling the supernatural elements very well. The ratings are great, if low. I really want it to do well, but all I can do is update, promote, and carry on.
That's how I learned an important lesson. It's better to have a few readers who like your work enough to let you know, than to have a spot in the featured box. Being featured comes and goes, but faithful readers last. You have over three times the followers I do! Write consistently excellent material so that they know, every time a notification pops up with your name on it, that something good is waiting for them. That's harder than it sounds, but it's the most fulfilling way to write in my opinion.
And, if all else fails, sell out. No, don't do that. Write because it brings you joy, even if the rest of the world ignores you.

I cannot think of a coherent way to express the feels I have from your post
