The yuletide state of the pony address · 11:03pm Dec 24th, 2013
Make merry all ye faithful readers, and may good tidings find their way to your lives.
I am alive.
I know, I'm as shocked as you are. Maybe I should start a bit further back:
I'm still fired, my dead-end job is still over and I'm still stuck at home (more or less). More rather than less, actually, especially considering the season.
So what have I been doing instead of writing? Well, I ran a successful drawing-and-colouring-in event on Equestria Daily which produced a number of colourful pictures and hopefully a lot of fun, I've been developing some software for a friend of mine (track one of my 'not be a destitute bum' plan) and I've been trying to get myself back into school so I can get a degree then move into business for myself (track two of 'don't be a destitute bum').
I am happy to announce that both of these things are continuing apace. I've been accepted back at school and I've been to the unemployment office and sorted most of the paperwork out (being unemployed is so much harder than actually working, it's a joke) so all in all I'm well out of that shithole I've been trapped in for the last 5 years that has sapped my soul and destroyed my own sense of self-worth. I'm also unsurprised enough that I can say most of the people who weren't fired are either wishing they had been, will be, or are quitting.
Thus ends an era, not with a bang but with a sound butt-fucking of everything that thousands of people have tried to accomplish thanks to small-mindedness and petty greed.
But I digress. Some of you may care about king of diamonds still (I know I do!). Well good news there too - it's currently sitting at over 9000 words, is mostly in first draft status and almost finished scene-wise. It will still be a while, but good things are worth the wait, I assure you.
I think this one will be good. I apologize for the almost 6-month wait at this point (something over 21 weeks, out of a 52 week year? Yeah, that's near enough six months), but things are back on track. You'll still have to expect slow release dates, but not quite this slow.
This chapter's gonna be all whiz-bang-kapow - as is the next - and ooh but I wish I could show you all it and have you read it again when it's ready. I'm such a tease.
Let me drop a teensy tiny spoiler - this chapter is guest cameo chapter time, and some of you may squee like little fillies. The rest will also, once they go read the story the character is from (And trust me, you're going to want to, it's a good one).
Anyway, I hope you all got what you wanted (or failing that, what you needed) for xmas. I myself got nothing, being the responsible adult that I am. I did however cook an absolutely illegally awesome ham (nsa guys, that was a joke - y'all are welcome to come try my ham if you want, I can give you the recipe. Nothing in it is contraband) and have eaten far too much of it to be strictly healthy.
So, what did you all do for the holidays?
!!!
He Lives!!!
Glad that you are okay
or relatively less worse
or not
Happy Holidays mid
Such a dirty tease...
Glad to have you back, brother. Here's hoping the new year shows better grace than the last. Never forget, we love ya.
Can never eat to much ham.
I ATE A STEAK.
IT WAS DELICIOUS.
AGHHH!! And now I cant wait for this chapter, you monster.
What character what which story it might be? I can thing about six stories, but you will probably surprise me anyway.
Good to know that you are "not-completely-good-but-certainly-less-bad" now.
And merry Christmas. Because mine are kind of bad.
We spent Christmas Eve with some dear friends who made turkey. Second turkey this week!
Sorry to hear things have gone a bit pear-shaped for you; but at least you seem to be having a good Christmas otherwise. Looking forward to the next installment of KoD, whenever it turns up.
As for me, the turkey is currently in the oven, the sausages have been wrapped in bacon, the onion sauce and roast veggies are cooking; and the Christmas puds are waiting for afterwards.
*wonders what was in your ham...*
