Concerning the three 'R's of Valkyrie

Okay, so. Since I am getting really quite tired of readers telling (or sometimes asking, though rarely) me that I need to change how this little bit of my world works, I'm just going to post this little blog to clear the air once and for all.

So..... · 1:25pm Nov 19th, 2013

Hey once again, readers. I've got a couple of things I want to go over with this blog.

First of all, is anyone tired of me writing warfics? Unity was one, Valkyrie is definitely one, and even Peacekeepers is headed in that direction. Is my writing rather stale because I constantly write in this particular genre? I know an author should write what is comfortable to them. And this genre is what I'm most comfortable with. But I don't want to have my writing become rather stale because I don't attempt to write in any other genre. What do you all think?

In other news, some of you will be pleased to note that the reconstruction of Unity, or what used to be Unity, is well underway. I ended up so frustrated at it I've decided to completely scrap the fiction as it stands now. No matter how hard I tried, I simply could not manage to get Unity back on track, nor find my drive to actually continue the fic. So, as far as I'm concerned, Unity is trashed. Gone. Instead, I have started a new fiction with the same basic idea of Unity, but about three times better written, in my opinion. You can expect this new fiction to be out sometime within the next couple of days, and Unity shall henceforth be deleted, and, in my case, forgotten about. Now, before I part, a little gift for you all: A teaser of the long description of Violet Loyalties, the fiction replacement of Unity.

The Hive, as you know it, is gone. How far would you go to bring it back? Once upon a time, the answer to such a question would come easily to Queen Chrysalis. These days, however, such a question is not so simply answered. The Hive is shattered. The failed invasion of Canterlot left the changelings to form little pockets with their own individual Queens, preventing them from being the cohesive whole they once were. Chrysalis is left the leader of the smallest of these pockets, but it does not matter. The rightful Queen is dying, poisoned by the love fueled spell unleashed by Princess Cadance and Shining Armor. None of her followers can help her or find a cure, and no other changeling cares. Determined to save the Hive and bring it back together again, Chrysalis hatches a desperate plan to place a new Queen upon the full throne of the Hive. An outsider. Nopony other than one Twilight Sparkle. Practically forced to make one last promise to her former enemy, young Twilight Sparkle and her closest friend Rainbow Dash take up Chrysalis' mantle, and scramble to unite the new changeling clans once more. Besieged on all sides from enemies within her new people, Twilight finds herself eager to make outside allies to support her. Unfortunately for the new Queen, things are never quite simple. It'll take a level head to prevent a civil war among the changelings, and an even greater effort to circumvent a race war that threatens to engulf the entire planet she calls home.

So, what do you think? I know some of you are probably, "Wow! A fiction by Flicka that has more than one word for the title!" Yea, bite me. Aside from that, does it sound any more exciting than Unity? I sure hope so. Anyway, better get ready for work now or I'm gonna be late.

Cheers!

I don't mind at all.

Sounds good. I liked Unity but I can see this as a better alternative just from that description. I'll be looking forward to it.

I am but a mere visitor in that beautiful world that are your fanfics, and from the way you wrote about it and the description, i can tell that this will be something that will make me stop playing stupid mindless video game and read for a time so i can tell: You did this right.

I will most likely read this.

I would recommend not deleting Unity, and instead add a reboot announcement, disguised as a chapter.

Cool but this will be the second or third restart.

I enjoy the war fics, and its a tricky balance to really mix the macro and micro level actions that occur in them, but i will be wishing you the best.

I had a great time with Unity, your writings is fine as it is.

A shame to hear about Unity. I enjoyed that a lot... Well, it's your call.

This new story. Is it just me or is the description revealing a tad too much?:rainbowhuh: Might be just me, though.
Still, it shows that it's going to be a long fic, unless you plan to cram all of that in the first three chapters.:rainbowwild:

I shall await this new fic of yours eagerly!

Warfics? What's wrong with them?
What? Too many of them?
...
I fail to see the problem!:pinkiehappy:

Keep up the good work!

I'm fine with warfics. Heck, I've got one in the works. Would you be willing to edit? Well, it's probably less editing and more pointing out other things that need fixing.

I like your writing. Don't feel that you've disappointed me in any way. Because you haven't:twilightsmile:.

While it's good to stretch yourself by writing in genres not familiar to you, you shouldn't abandon what you do best. Besides, there no reason you can't do both.

If you wrote warfics with the same premise all the time; Big bad needs destroying and can only be done this exact way or all is done for.

Then, sure, it would be boring and feel stale. You, however, have managed to create two (three(?)) stories of the same genre, but has avoided them being too similar. They're so vastly different from each other that it doesn't matter if they're the same genre.

P.S - I haven't read "Peacekeepers," so that's why I have the parenthesis.

no more Unity:fluttercry:? oh well the story line you've got for the replacement sounds good enough for me:pinkiehappy: no promises on a like or a fave but I'll deff look into it and read it! as for your writing style, you write and have written well enough for me and I'm pretty sure many others to keep track of your stories

Warfics! Who only writes Warfics... cause... um... both my finished fics totally don't end in full scale war... and Dawn Shield doesn't seem to be going that way... :applejackconfused:... uh... Look! A distraction!

Seriously, though, all I can recommend is try your hand at something else if you want. I never thought I would be good at writing dark, but it turns out, I'm pretty good at it. Besides, Accord isn't really a warfic. Even if you find you're only good at warfics, remember, so was Tom Clancy :rainbowdetermined2:.

Write what you want, I for one will at least give it a try (with the possible exception of pure clop). I have greatly enjoyed everything you have written so far and do not mind that you stick to a single genre. After all, you do a wonderful job, all your stories are very distinct from one another, and there are plenty of other authors/stories out there if I want to read other genres.

As for the Unity reboot, I will be kind of sad to see it go, but the description you have up there sounds amazing so I am looking forwards to reading that when you are ready to show it off.

Fixed.

But I agree with him.
