On the 27th, it will be exactly two years since I first posted Fillystata to dA. Two years since my first pony fanfic and the first major piece of written work I ever finished. That's a little less than two weeks from now. Since I missed the date for my first pony drawing, I thought I'd make something special out of this event instead.
So how should we celebrate this momentuous event? At the very least I'm going to finish the last chapter of Stitch and bring the trilogy to conclusion, but what else? Here are some options for you to vote on, or you can suggest your own. I may even do more than one, depending on my time:
* A small bonus chapter/story for Fillystata? Any wishes or ideas are welcome.
* A small bonus chapter/story for Mare in the Mirror? A very short sequel perhaps? Ideas and wishes welcome.
* A rewrite of Fillystata to bring it up to date and in line with my current standards? To go back and use all the things I've learned from writing the sequel and now also prequel? Imagine the possibilities! They're virtually limitless. If I did this, I would keep the original on dA, because I like nostalgia as much as the next pony.
* Something else?
Two amazing years of cute art and great stories. Man, nostalgia indeed.
Far as Mare in the Mirror goes? I don't know. Aside from the very quick and open ended conclusion to the fight with you know who, we still don't know what happened to her.
I'd like to see maybe a quick chapter in the life of that 'heartless' mare and more about how she met and coerced that filly to be her toy. How she really felt about things, how she saw the world. The sensation of taking her first life, and if she ever really felt any remorse at all. Which I doubt, but even the coldest of hearts must of had some fondness for their toys, no?
Maybe a more detailed battle scene? Something more edgy and less Hitchcock?
Or possibly a "What if" sequel that doesn't really hold canon over the series and can play with the softer stories that dwelled within the Fillystata/MiM universe.
Maybe a Pinkieshy story since we hardly never see a ship with those two. Rarity could use a story. Poor girl went through so much.
I'm loving Uniformity, still on chapter two though, likely get back to it after dinner. I would like to see a possible Diamond Tiara love story or something that shows her in a sort of non-Silver Spoon relationship. Something cute. Hell, it could be a tragedy even and be a part of the Fillystata universe somehow, or just a standalone original story. But if I ever felt anyone would look at a character access them from afar, it'd be you.
DT is business oriented, loves to troll Apple Bloom (for whatever reason), popular in class. She's adorably attentive when her Daddy speaks, and knows how to play a crowd into her favor. She's got leader potential and that drive. She's full of potential. When she's not saddled with Silver Spoon and having to put up airs.
I guess an exploration on how such a outspoken pony with such a black and white view on what she thinks is how social status works. Hearts and Hooves Day sorta had me wanting to do something with Alula and DT, where DT was sort of unsure how to handle some random Blank Flank's outburst to give her a red card that she heard Diamond likes red better.
Someting between Silver Spoon finding DT's stunned look at Alula's naive handing out "Be Mine" card. To possibly having Silvy convince DT should play along with it while it ends up becoming something that backfires on Silvy later or just simply surprises her that DT would later accept the playful and naive pegasus into her little circle.
I'm not looking for foalcon mind you! I simply believe that too many people just love to hate her without really looking at what IS Diamond Tiara. What CAN Diamond Tiara BE? What IS Diamond's talent in? What does she do out of School and what hobbies does she have outside of hanging with Silver Spoon? She clearly has ambitions and goals. Dreams, and the drive to chase them.
When I first read Mare in the Mirror and that backstory, it almost felt like a s1 Twilight who got bullied beyond a breaking point and made a DT like marefriend she would later manipulate and force to do what she desired. It was a sad story. I felt really bad for that rich ignorant filly. And yet pity is all I felt for the murderer of the filly. Disgust, but pity.
I've gone on way too long here, and likely didn't express how I'd just like to see one good story with DT that sort of leads on on a character world building sort of journey through her life and and what makes her, her. Heh, she's like a little Trixie in some ways :p

Rewriting Fillystata would be like remaking Casablanca. Just my two cents.

Have you read Stitch? Beyond telling Sweetie Belle's story it's also looking into what you mentioned, what really happened between Midnight and her "bullies", as well as some of Midnight's thoughts and feelings. It's not from her own perspective, though, but it does explore her character in much more depth. It sounds a lot like what you might be looking for.
I haven't thought much of a Diamond Tiara story, to be honest. I tend to be more interested in Silver Spoon, but who knows. I've been known to surprise myself

Knowing how Sweetie Belle ends up always unnerved me when I tried reading. But now that you're telling me all that happens, well DAMN I don't feel so uneasy! I would of thought you'd not returned to flashbacks of those times with Midnight. I put too much focus on Sweetie Belle and now I find I messed out on backstories!
Hehe, understandable with how aesthetical she is and her adorable glasses. Grey on silver white is rather pleasing to the eyes. The braided mane. Yeah, i can see the appeal. I've yet to actually read a story I was really comfortable with that didn't overly try and paint her innocent just because she looked cute. Though I have a couple favs.
Diamond could use some attention imo. She's the spice that gives life to the CMC imo. Here is what some authors from our group has dished out so far. And yeah, we're affiliated with Silver Spoon Group as well! ;3
Try out "First Snow" A touching look at a sort of detached yet loving relationship between DT and her Dad. It's probably my favorite take on a father daughter relationship between these two, hell between any pony and parent story actually. Lots of subtle and not so subtle moments that made me go "wow" at times. It's a short story, but has a lot to offer. Ending is what you'll make of it. Overall a pleasing story.
A really good comedy with some slice of unrequited love, least in this original and now canon to the Lunaverse story, Scootalong to the Cheers is a great laugh and silly adventure with a Scootaloo I simply adore (and how Faust likely wanted to be, more confrontational like in S1), while being the cutest filly ever! Oh my Heartstrings! xD (you can bash me later!)

I'm sure there's a troupe for what happens in this story. But please do check it out! DT does something rather terrible to the CMC. Worth checking out for the feels.
Diamond Tiara Likes Anime! (don't let the title fool you, it's pretty well thought out!) DiamondBelle is a surprisingly adorable pairing! I became an instant fan. Than again Yukito is just a brilliantly fun poni poni poni writer. You should check out some of his Twixie comedies.

The events of Fillystata are dealt with in the upcoming chapter 7 of Stitch. The first six chapters happen before Fillystata and most of the horror happens in flashbacks. It's done so that you could skip chapter 7 and only read the first six chapters, if you can't stand reading what happens to Sweetie in Fillystata and don't mind maybe missing the final look into Midnight's mind.
As for Diamond and Silver, I don't know. When I wrote MitM, I included the royal chef in the first chapter or so who was supposed to be Silver Spoon's dad (never explicitly stated so, but that's what I had in mind), but that's about as far as any of those two were ever involved in the first two stories. They do have a few appearances in Stitch, but nothing that really delves into their minds.
