Regent Deleted Scene #1 · 1:15am Mar 24th, 2013

This scene was originally going to be either in chapter one or two. It was written way back in October in response to reading Magic Duel's synopsis. Because of Magic Duel's ending, the scene was jossed and it, along with Trixie becoming a supporting antaganist of Flight Deck's who stole back the Alicorn Amulet for Deck's plans, was aborted.

“What is your first order, Lady Regent?”

“You said I have absolute authority?”

“That is correct.”

“Hmm.”

-----

Trixie sat in her recliner. She levitated a soothing cup of tea to her lips as she read that week's Equestria Inquiror.

“Ah, Trixie should relax like this more often.”

A sudden pounding on the door broke her relaxed demeanor.

“Who could that be at this hour? Probably one of Trixie's star struck fans.”

She got up from her chair and made her way over to the door before opening it with her telekinesis.

“What do you wa—”

In front of her stood three Royal Guardstallians.

“Are you Trixie Lulamoon?”

“Uh...” Trixie glanced at the guards, “If this is about that fire, Trixie promised to pay the owner back just as soon as she gets some bits.”

“She must not be here.” One guard said to another.

“No, no. She talks in third person.” the other guard responded.

“Third person? Isn't that a good indicator of somepony with mental illness?”

“Hey! Trixie can hear you.”

“So you are Trixie.” the lead guard said.

“Yes, Trixie is Trixie.”

The two other guards rolled their eyes.

“By order of the Lady Regent, you are under arrest.”

The two guards advanced to restrain her.

“Arrest!? For what? And who's this 'lady regent'?”

“For performing Class AA magic without a permit, violating a Royal Decree, and operating a business without a license. The Arcane Magic Council would also like to have a word with you regarding the theft of a certain magic amplification necklace of theirs.”

A Magical Dampening Field Emitter was placed on her horn and shackles were attached to her forehooves.

“You still haven't told Trixie who this 'lady regent' is?”

“Haven't you watched the news?”

“Trixie doesn't wish to become depressed by the nonstop pessimism that the media dish out.”

“Very well then. With the Princesses on their Centennial Vacation, Twilight Sparkle has been appointed Regent of Equestria in their stead.”

“Twilight Sparkle? Twilight Sparkle. Twilight Sparkle!” Trixie screamed out as she was led away by the Royal Guard.

-----

Twilight smirked to herself.

'I think I'm going to like this.'

Nice little script there.

Poor Trixie...

Obligatory OOC Trixie statement.

I WANT MORE OF THIS. WHO CARES ABOUT CANON ANYWAYS? :pinkiehappy:

*ahem*

Yes, do continue. Brilliant as always. :moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache:

better hope sethisto doesn't see this

Malfeasance in public office? What's that? :twilightsheepish:

And the next thing Trixie knew, she woke up shackled to the Regent's bed.

Um, just because Twilight forgave Trixie at the end of Magic Duel doesn't mean that Trixie didn't break the law. She should at least be charged with one count each of unlawful confinement for each citizen of Ponyville stuck under her dome shield.

“Trixie doesn't wish to become depressed by the nonstop pessimism that the media dish out.”

For once I agree with Trixie.

*shudders*

::rainbowlaugh::pinkiecrazy::rainbowlaugh::pinkiecrazy::rainbowlaugh::pinkiecrazy::rainbowlaugh::pinkiecrazy::rainbowlaugh::pinkiecrazy: oh god, WHY did you not put this, of course most of us just picked ourselves off the floor from laughing so hard but STILL, WHY:raritycry:??!

*spittakes so hard it breaks the sound barrier* THIS IS AWESOME D: WE NEED MORE OF THIS. Hell, make it a non-canon spin-off! :pinkiecrazy:

That seems kind of petty for Twi.

Once I stopped laughing I can see the issues with this.
Trixie could still work though, her previous connection with Twi means she could appear as a pawn, ally of convenience, plot obstacle, etc...

What could work is she attempts to garner brownie points or somesuch with Twi as a subplot?

You do realize you just spoilered a big part of Regent, right? You just told us that Flight Deck will be stealing the Alicorn Amulet for his own plans :|

...
Imagine the media response to _this_.

942452 Observant person. How many do you think will notice that, though? And how many do you think will remember by the time it comes into play (_if_ it comes into play - misinformation, revisions, etc having their place storywriting)?

Doesn't put it in because it s non-canon, yet Discord is still in stone? D:

I need my fix of chaotic ole Dissy

Well, I dunno, I think you could still fit this in with a few tweaks. Seeing that Trixie is so out of the loop on Equestrian affairs, maybe she inadvertently had done some to offend Twilight without realizing the consequences, unaware as she was of Twilight's new position.

Or you could just fudge continuity. Technically, you've already done it, and seeing that everybody here seems a-okay with this scene as-is, you could get away with that.

But hey, it's your story, don't let me tell you how to write it. :twilightblush:

942452>>942537
That was the original plan. The plot of Regent has changed since. Why, I hadn't even thought up the big plot twist when I had the Amulet idea.

943583 Good to hear that! I prefer my fics unspoilered :ajsmug:

Given that Trixie committed magical assault and battery on two MINORS, I'm surprised you didn't go ahead with this scene.

Read Ascend and the first chapter of Regent in four hours, and after every single funny line in both, this is still one of the best scenes ever created.

I am actually glad you decided to delete this scene. I find it unfunny for a number of reasons, primarily: 1) It makes Twilight sound petty and tyrannical, 2) it was incredibly easy to see where it was going, and 3) I happen to like Trixie.

945020 1. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. 2. EVERYONE saw where it was going. 3. I'm sorry you like Trixie, in my eyes(as well as many others) she will always be a spoiled little brat. Kinda like Silver Spoon, or Diamond Tiara. :unsuresweetie:

On the idea of cannon ruining this scene, I don't follow The story is already not following cannon if Discord is still stoned. Also, in Ascend, Trixie stole books from the library. That would make for grounds of arrest as well, wouldn't it? Or am I thinking of a different Twilicorn story?? :twilightoops: IDK I read so many :twilightblush: Not to mention everything she did to everypony in the town during "Magic Duel". :rainbowhuh:

In any case, it is your story to do with as you see fit. :rainbowwild: I will continue to follow regardless. :derpytongue2:

948528

Also, in Ascend, Trixie stole books from the library.

I'm afraid you're confusing it with another Twilicorn story. Trixie never appeared in Ascend.

I wrote that scene way back in October, long before Discord tossed Ascend into an AU. By the time its AU status was confirmed, I already had Lightning Dust to take Trixie's place and didn't feel like changing the plot to reincorporate Trixie.

948661 well....Now I'm confused on what Twilicorn story I read that had Trixie steal books from the library....:ajbemused:
Stupid brain, not having a photographic memory...
Sorry if I insulted you, I hope you didn't take it that way. :twilightblush::twilightblush:

952514
Oh no. I wasn't insulted. I've read much, much worse comments.

Fuck you, and your sequel too.

Like this one, for instance.

Lol screw cannon this is good :rainbowlaugh:

who wouldnt abuse there power a little :pinkiecrazy:

948528 Power doesn't corrupt. Fear corrupts. Fear of losing power, perhaps.

1363298 I agree that fear of losing power can corrupt, but equally believe that once someone has the power to do something, and have gotten bored doing everything else, it's simply a matter of time before they lose touch and say, "Hey, why not? I can't/wont be stopped."

1367937 Fair point with losing touch, "Let them eat cake" and all that. Still though, I believe the "corrupt moral character" that power brings is merely the expression of heretofore unforeseen character flaws that have merely lost their situational check.
